I have not liked a Susan Sarandon film since THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, and she is not the reason I liked that movie.

One interminable piano part finished. One to go!

As long as the audience doesn't feel the same way!

And thanks for the Christmas package.  I am listening to the Offenbach!!

You're quite welcome! I've always liked the English versions that Geoffrey Dunn did for the Sadler's Wells Opera. He did a fourth for them, BLUEBEARD, but it was a huge flop for them. I suspect it was too naughty.

NO MAIL TODAY.....it is a Federal Holiday!

I did not know that!  I looked at the USPS website and didn't see a holiday on the 26th.  Now I can stop staring out my window searching for my mail lady (or listening for her--the woman carries on non-stop cell phone conversations as she delivers.)

Back to the last piano part: about 43 bars to go. I think I may take a trip to Staples to celebrate.

I also need some lunch. Maybe eggs. I'm saving the pork chop I took home from Skip and Fred's last night for dinner.

I really, really like THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE. Listening to it was the highlight of my day yesterday. Did anyone here see the production?

Like DR Laura, I would not venture out to shopping malls today. There was a time when I did so selectively, but no more. As for Ikea, some of my purchases there were just fine, others were crap. Buyer, beware. They carry a lot of furniture that will fit a small room, unlike the stores that assume you live in a mansion. I've always liked that about them.

George, pixellation on BDs is almost always caused by something very minor, like a sticky fingerprint or the like.  Just look at the bottom of the disc under a good light and you may find the answer to your problems.

I did look at the disc and it didn't seem to have any prints on it.  When I played it in my Blu-ray player at home, it was absolutely fine.  My niece wants to get her own copy, so hopefully the one she gets will be fine.

When "Fright Night" was being shown on cable 7 times a day (or so it seemed), I watched about 10 minutes of it once.  That was pretty much it.

If I am going to watch one of those horror films, I much prefer THE HOUSE with William Katt.

Madly getting a bunch of charts done.  This mini-musical I was roped into doing opens in a couple of weeks and so I really should try to get it finished before then.  ;)

I also have all the choral arrangements to finish (actually, to begin. . .) for the Pops Choir.

It might be her firmware, then, though usually that doesn't affect things like pixellation--discs simply won't play at all.

I have finished most of the "big" number of the musical, which entailed composing, orchestrating and doing the vocal arrangement.  Oy.

Went to see "The Artist" today. One thing that was quite wonderful: The audience respected the silence of the film. Except for a late-arriving couple who need flash lights to find a seat, everyone was really quiet.

I found the film quite enjoyable in a good, old-fashioned way. Anyone who has seen "A Star Is Born" and "Singin' in the Rain" will know every plot twist, but the cinematography was excellent, the black and white looked gorgeous and the main actors were ingratiating. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was highly entertaining.

And of course like so much theater, the actors are getting paid, but the musicians who are providing them with music?  Nada.

I have not liked a Susan Sarandon film since THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, and she is not the reason I liked that movie.

I saw Susan Sarandon do A COUPLE OF WHITE CHICKS SITTING AROUND TALKING, Off-Broadway, and then spent a wonderful hour hanging out with Susan and co-star Eileen Brennan.  I found both of these ladies to be even more delightful off stage, than they were in doing the play.

I'm sure glad that I didn't pay attention to the person I spoke to at Austin's Sanitation Department a couple of weeks ago.

I called, asking if, since Monday is a holiday, would I be getting my normal trash pick-up on Monday, or would it be pushed until Tuesday?

She said that it would be Tuesday.

Well, just to be safe, I put the trash cans out last night and, sure enough, they were picked up today.

And, to the person I spoke to at the Sanitation Department, I can only say:

I ventured out to one day-after-Christmas sale and lived to tell the tale.  Kathryn's, my beloved local Vera Bradley enabler retailer is having a big sale all week.  Today I bought Lauren's birthday present (Vera) and a couple of beads for my Chamilia bracelet, one of which I bought with my Christmas money from my Mom.  She will be pleased with my choice  ;)

We are going to brave the crowds and take the kids to Ikea today to get Gabe a nightstand.  We have never been to an Ikea before, so we're looking forward to it.

Be sure to pick up a map on your way in - otherwise you may never get out!

Back from another trip to the Apple store.  After making sure that I had a sale for my computer (easy), I got the new iMac 27inch thing with completely up to date everything, more memory and gigs that I could possibly use and much faster processors than mine.  My computer was behaving erratically, so it will be cleaned and serviced and then the buyer can have essentially a new machine and it will have the latest operating system on it, too.

So, I have to use the laptop until the data transfers are done - I let the Apple people do that and it takes twenty-four to forty-eight hours, but my guy said he'd try to get it done sooner than later.  Then he or someone will spend thirty minutes with me showing me all the new stuff there is.  Also got the latest version of Word - I had a very old version and it, too, was causing some weird stuff and I cannot take any chances with documents I have.
