Are there any Adele fans here? Twice now I've tried to listen to her on Amazon clips, but I just can't do it. I just don't care for her music. Maybe it's too pop for me. I don't know.

Those commits can be really evil.

I have this image of John G's bird taking a shower with him. You did say the bird is on your shoulder constantly, didn't you, John?

I don't know.  I suppose I should listen to her & find out, just not in the mood to do so.

I think many of us are too old to appreciate Adele's music. Well, at least I am.

Back from the competition.  It ran really long so I had to leave after hearing only two of the final five - they're going to average in my previous scores for the five finalists.  They didn't even have us speak this time (a good thing), but they started almost forty-five minutes late and then what was supposed to be a ten-minute break for them to tally scores turned into another forty-five minute break.  They began doing the final five at two-thirty, which was when it was all supposed to be over.  I stayed till 2:40 and then had to bolt.

The real estate lady got here at three.  She really only glanced at things to ascertain that everything was in good repair - she was very impressed with how clean I keep everything.  I showed her the window with the rotting wood so she can report back that that really needs attending to very soon (I'm told they're working on it).  But the best news was that they have no intention of selling for the reasons I stated yesterday.  So, I think I can stay put here for at least a few more years.

Sunday afternoon greetings!  We are back from Lima after a long day.  There was a vestry meeting after church and I was hoping to sit in Richard's office and read while he was in the meeting.  No, the wife of one committee member and the mother of another were also waiting and wanted to visit.  Then we paid a nursing home call and had a quick sandwich at the new Arby's.  Didn't get home until about 4:30.

I like Arby's food.

Great episode of the Simpsons on Arby's. They were doing a spoof of 'Lord of the Flies' and one kid, who hasn't eaten in days, says, "I'm so hungry, I'd almost eat Arby's." The rest gag at the thought and continue on with whatever they were doing.

Doesn't Maggie Smith work in the Downtown Arby's?     [not my joke, though I wish it were]

I hate to disagree with dear reader Jeanne, but I do as regards over punctuation in a conversational sentence, where the eye is literally stopped every couple of words - just because someone at some point deemed certain rules correct, doesn't mean one can't obey them in order for a sentence to read in a similar fashion to one speaking it.  If you were speaking a sentence, you wouldn't pause for commas - it would sound weird.  I'll put them in if it's necessary, but for a line where I don't want the rhythm broken I absolutely will not.

Here's an example.  And boy was she sexy.  That sentence reads just the way I would speak it.  The fix suggested was: And, boy, was she sexy.  That, to me and my eye, is just pointless.  So, poll - which do you like better - the absolutely correct or the conversational.  I happen to think either is correct.

He was not allowed into the shower. Too much effort. But he's with me now.

She's being profiled on "60 Minutes" tonight, or at least that was scheduled as of yesterday as a lead-in to the Grammys.

Adele has had the #1 album in the U.S. for 20 weeks at this point.

Eerily, in the past 20 years since the "soundscan" measuring has existed, , only THE BODYGUARD, with Whitney Houston's string of hits has spent more weeks at #1.
