Well, you've read the notes, the notes were nothing to sneeze at, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently sneezing and will be home shortly.

Suitable subject heading for me. What with the sneeezing, coughing, sore throat and sinus pain, I hardly got any sleep last night. It seemed as if the night would never end (or is that an Oscar viewing line?).

The New York Times finally got around to writing about Howard Kissel, and the piece is very good.

Hi all.  Well today is the day I head to NYC!  I am sorry that I don't think I will be able to meet with you, Larry.  I was told yesterday that I have to adhere to their schedule and can not change it.  Since I am to be escorted during my stay there I can't go anywhere they don't come too until I am safely back on the plane home.

I can't really talk about anything else from this point on.  I had to sign a legal but I'm guessing that anything I said up to the point I signed it is ok.  I didn't know. I've never done this before.   I don't think I'm going to be allowed to post anything while I'm there either.

Thank you all for the good wishes.  I guess my life will change for the better or the worse after these next couple of days.  I just pray it isn't worse.  I can't take to much more worse.  I'm ready for better! :)

So I guess you all will see me on March 1st!

Good morning, all! Since I thnk the only film I'd seen last year was THE HELP, I had no urge to watch the Oscars, so I watched COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER as one more prep for the Appalachian Chistmas show. I'd never seen the dilm before and I really enjoyed it. The cast is wonderful. I would have never recognized the amazing Beverly D'Angelo as Patsy Cline, but I thought the wholecast was quite wonderful. The film begins around 1949 which is around the time my father started going back to Kentucky to see his mother, and I found the movie quite a nostalgia trip as well as a good biopic.

I've got work around the apartment today: the Dance Scene from ROBERTA seems endless, although I know it isn't, and I'm hoping we can resolve the cause of the problem.

I've been feeling emtionally down for the past week; I hope it's overwork and fatique as opposed to a depression or malaise coming on.

DR Danise, I am sorry to hear that I may not see you, but I hope you have the time of your life as a celebrity and that this appearance will help to resolve all problems caused by what that creep did to you and others. Have a safe trip and come back again for fun!

DR ELMORE if you haven't seen SWEET DREAMS, you may find the first hour or so of that movie entertaining as well....some of it looks very familiar, so the town may have been seen in some other movie....maybe CMD.

And Ann Wedgeworth's accent is perfect.

I enjoyed most of the speeches.....I wish Jean hadn't gone crazy at the end of his speech, but otherwise it was great.

I did not enjoy any of Mr Crystal's participation or any of the "banter" the presenters were given.  Lowest point was Paltrow and Downey, Jr - although competition was stiff for the worst.....

The LOWEST LOW point was Mr Cohen on the red carpet dumping ashes onto Ryan Seacrest - who I usually don't like, but who was just doing his job and will now end up in Cohen's stupid movie.....

Monday morning greetings!  It's a bee-yoo-tee-ful day here in SW Ohio.  Richard and I are going to the vampire's lab for blood tests and then out to breakfast.

Beverly is better as Patsy in CMD - but Jessica has her moments in Sweet Dreams - mostly the acting....and in SD, we never even see Loretty.

DR JRand - last night you asked about the book THE HELP.  I'd recommend the audiobook.

I had guests during the first hour or so of the Oscars.  After they left, I watched until Woody Allen won for Original Screenplay.  Then I found myself overwhelmingly sleepy and went to bed.

I found Billy Crystal's hosting antics to be only mildly amusing (my only laugh out loud moment was his voicing the thoughts of Nick Nolte.)  He pretty much just repeated schtick he had done years before.

I would have picked Christopher Plummer's acceptance speech as my favorite if only it hadnt come across as being so over-rehearsed.  My actual favorite moment came when the guys who won for editing THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO were at a loss for words and wound up saying "Let's get out of here!"

I am surprised that they are being so strict with DR Danise. I figured they would just give her some money for meals and leave her on her own. Why would they bring someone to NYC and not let them go around and do what they want when they are not taping?

TOD:

I forget the exact line, but my wife and I LOL at Crystal's quip right after the Academy president (Tom Shereck) make his short speech mid-show.

For us, it was the biggest laugh of the night.
