Title: BE MY VALENTINE

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a valentine to Valentine's Day, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently munching on their Valentine's Day candy hearts.

Hey - it's a modern techno-world; maybe the operation will be on YouTube - or we can follow the surgeon on Twitter.

Depending on how it goes I may post something myself on Wednesday (doubtful) but Anthony will call Larry at some time on Wednesday after the surgery. I don't know what time the procedure is happening yet, I find out tomorrow afternoon, so it could be later in the day but I think that's what will happen.

Larry, I assume you don't mind that Anthony will call you sometime on Wednesday, correct?

I'm sure I'll be up and about by Thursday and I can tell you all the gory details then.

Valentine's Day greetings!  It's very windy here in SW Ohio, but it's in the 40s - almost spring-like.

Another song suggestion for DR The Vixter:  "Are You Sure?" from THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN.  I love the theology:

"When you pray for something and it's no go,
Don't come around with 'I told you so.'
Your prayer was answered;
The answer was NO."

Here are a few of mine:
  She Touched Me
  Four Strong Winds
If I Gave You (from "High Spirits")
Where Do I Go From Here?
Imagining You (from "Birds of Paradise")
The room Is Filled With You (from "Colette Collage")

I was adamant (or was I Adam Ant?) about not purchasing the LOVE NEVER DIES recording.  It was open for orders almost a year in advance and was delivered about the time the show began previews.  It seemed to me that ALW was attempting to make a profit on this recording whether LND was a hit or not.  I wanted no part of this scheme.

I still haven't gone in to check the settings & make sure it shows "all my friends".  I do notice posts from occasional posters so I'm not sure if I have a problem.  I've also been thinking about removing people who rarely comment or post, unless they are close friends.  Before I do so I had better make sure FB simply hasn't been letting me see their posts.

Congrats to THE KING'S SPEECH for its many BAFTA wins last night!

Yes, but....

The film  won awards as Outstanding British Film, Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Film Music , all accomplished without benefit of an award winning director!

Also, although Desplat's original music was superb: the musical highlights of the film were Beethoven's, almost one third of the soundtrackalbum is Beethoven and the awards orchestra played Beethoven for the crews' walk-on music.

Geez - you rich kids had it easy; I had to hand make all my Valentines. In Second grade, we spent the frist two weeks of February making a Valentine card for Mother; a hand painted, embroidered card no less!

I suspect making an eight year old boy embroider had lasting physic effects.

I thought I asked ;)

When I was in elementary school, Mom would make cookie Valentines for me to take to the rest of the class. They were beautiful and had a cookie at the center of each cookie card "pasted" on with raspberry jam. In first grade, though, I forgot one of the four Johns in the class and had to surrender my own cookie. Boy, was I mad. Those cookies are still my favorites.

In many of today's schools such craven practice would be forbidden:

You couldn't certify that no cookie had come in contact with a peanut product.

The cookies probably contain saturated fats.

How can we sure Mom isn't "possessed" and feels a calling to poison those she-dvelis children leading her son to damnation.

From today's GreginHolywood.com:
DOUBLE TAKE:
If you saw The Social Network, one of this year’s 10 Oscar nominees for best picture, then you know the story of the Winklevoss twins who were portrayed by Armie Hammer in the film.
Tyler Winklevoss and Cameron Winklevoss were classmates at Harvard with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and sued him for $140 million claiming he stole their idea for a social networking site they called HarvardConnection (later renamed ConnectU).
They got a multi-million settlement but are now pursuing more money. I watched the handsome 29-year-old brothers on Piers Morgan’s CNN show over the weekend and they claim much more evidence has come to light since they entered into their settlement with Zuckerberg so this story is far from over.
The brothers have not been spending all their time in litigation however. They were members of the Varsity Crew Team at Harvard and competed in the men’s pair rowing event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
So what did they think of Armie Hammer’s portrayal of them?
“He definitely, I thought, captured two distinct personalities,” Cameron told Morgan.
Added Tyler: “There was a relief when it was over that our story was told, and we were portrayed, what we believe was a positive light. … We don’t think the story is fully told yet.”

Actor Robert Blake was booted out of an autograph signing session over his unruly behavior, according to a U.S. report.

The In Cold Blood star, who was tried and acquitted of murder in 2005 following the death of his wife Bonnie Lee Bakley, was invited to meet-and-greet fans at a memorabilia convention called The Hollywood Show at the Burbank Airport Marriott Hotel & Convention Center in California over the weekend.

However, Blake soon upset organizers with his demanding ways, and complained about the lack of fans interested in getting his signature, according to TMZ.com.

The website reports Blake was escorted out of the event due his behavior, but when he started signing autographs in the car park, he was kicked off the premises.

I have lost close to thirty pounds - that's a good thing.
My blood pressure is normal - that's a good thing.
My mental health is quite positive - it goes without saying, but, that's a good thing as well.

Molly has pretty much adjusted to the "home" recuperation.  After a walk (or two, or three), as she is released from the leash, she heads straight for the "home;" and waits to see if it's time to go in there.

Didn't you, I, and my friend Pat Skelton sit behind him in the restaurant once at a  Ray Courts show at the Beverly Garland, shortly after that whole murder thing?

I think so.  The man is certifiable, but the owners of this show have just made it a circus and I hope that finally enough celebs will just say no.

I'm sorry to hear about your boss's relative, TCB. I need to look that incident up; it doesn't seem to have made our paper here.

According to tonight's news, the young lady was never Gelman's girlfriend; she was terrified of him and he'd been stalking her. Her boyfriend was interviewed on the news tonight, and he was talking about the Valentines Day plans he'd made.

DR TCB, was your boss's cousin the one he ran down or the stepfather he stabbed?

He was the one that was run down with the stolen car.  His name was Steven Tannenbaum.  He was less than a block from his home.

It is kind of strange to hear about these murders on the TV over the weekend, and to then find out that someone you know is directly involved with the case.  Several people have told me over the years that they went through this small world feeling when my mom was killed.  They said they saw the story on the news or read about it in the paper, only to find out that my mom was one of the two women killed.  Things like this are not supposed to happen to people that you know.

When I was in elementary school, Mom would make cookie Valentines for me to take to the rest of the class.

Actually, the second grade teacher was the one who called me a devil worshipper. It was a Lutheran school, too, so my parents paid attention to her.

Why were you a devil worshipper?  This is intriguing.
Because I watched "Dark Shadows."

I am back from MY three-month check-up.

Wonderful news all around.

From the It;s a Small World File:

I am sure that most of you read or heard about Maksim Gelman's NY murder spree this past weekend.  This morning my boss came into the office and told us that his cousin was the man that Maksim Gelman struck and killed in the crosswalk.  My boss is leaving early tomorrow morning for New York.

I hadn't heard anything about this.

No. And it was a year-long problem with her and was one that carried over to other teachers in later years, even after the show was canceled.
