Looks like my dear cyberfather TCB took off for the theater while I was catching up on the day's posts, but I still send him the best of vibes for opening night!  It will be decidedly odd not having him with us in Charley's Aunt for these last three performances.

Spent my afternoon participating in a mock jury project.  Kinda interesting, I gotta say.  Far worse ways to spend an afternoon.

To me it makes no difference if the child-in-need is from here or from there...just the fact that they are helping make a better life for the young'un is good enough for me.

Just looking at the weather forcast for New York City and it shows upper 70s and lower 80s through Tuesday....hmmm...I might need to repack a bit and throw in another pair of shorts.

So, DR MBarnum, when do you get into NYC?

Thanks son, you and the cast of CHARLEY'S AUNT will be in my thoughts tonight.

And thanks for all the additional good wishes from everyone.  I am now off to break some legs.

The Smoke House!!

I hope they have "non smoking" tables!! ;)
Yes, the Smoke House!

Famous for it's cheese bread.

Also the place where the Captain and Tennille were discovered.

And there are no "smoking" tables any more.  Haven't been for years.

*I'll send this out in an e-mail, but since it's fresh on my mind right now...

For those DRs who will be joining me on the Eating and Walking Tour next Wednesday...

1) Wear comfortable shoes.
2) Bring an umbrella.
3) Even though we will be snacking, knoshing, grazing, eating, etc., along the way, I'd suggest having a light breakfast beforehand.  -Our first actual food stop will take place about a half hour into the tour.
4) Be sure to get a good night's sleep the night before.  -I'm pretty sure that you will be sleeping rather soundly after the all the walking and eating and walking.

That's all for now.  Stay tuned for more details and updates!

:)

ROTFLOL.

I doubt I will get to sleep early and the morning will come very quickly to this west coast girl

It will likely be far too early for me to eat, 10:00 will be just fine with me.  I just wish I drank coffee for an energy boost.  I promise not to blame you when I start shaking from an overdose of sugar on an empty stomach.

No problem with the shoes thank goodness ;D

Still looking for the umbrella.

Is that what it's called?  Also, some fine noodles with veggies and a skinny egg roll type of thing.  Will something like that be on the tour?

Grilled/barbecued meats, in general, are called ihaw-ihaw.  There is a term for the grilled pork on a stick, but, most of the time growing up, we just called it shish kebab- at least a Filipino version of it.

As for the noodles... That's pancit.

And the eggrolls are called lumpia.

I haven't really found a Filipino place here in Manhattan - yet.  -However, since I grew up on the stuff, I haven't exactly been searching it out.  ;)

However, I guess I could always hit the kitchen over the next few days.... Hmmm...

WOW!  Can you say "red-eye"?

;)

Note to DR elmore - With DR MBarnum taking late flight and coming in early, that should make it easier to distract him while he keeps backing up closer and closer to the ledge.

In that matter, "things" should not tug to one's heart but one's common sense. One does not  adopt a kid for oneself but the kid's needs!
But then what do i know, me, not famous, not rich and not married without children! :(

Is it okay I laughed? ;D

Rockefeller Center
Meet on the Plaza Level "behind" the statue of Prometheus (the one down in the rink area).
*And maybe we can all get on "The Today Show"!  :D

Be there or be square!

*Otherwise, be at 1st Ave and Houston at 10:00am.

If Garner leaves ALIAS, that will be the end of ALIAS.

It did not fare particularly well last night in the ratings, but then they weren't expecting it to.

Here's something I got off the inertnet about Vartan tonight:

" The show's producers have said Vartan is still part of the "Alias" family, and while it's not unprecedented for characters to return from the dead, he isn't set to return in the near future."

I am nearly as excited as if I were going to be there!  But not quite.

Hello, DR Hisaka.  I hope you are enjoying LA and the Kritzer tour.

Who all is at the Courts show this time?  I must check their site.

Is friend of DR CP - the luscious Miss June (You Too Can Have a Lovely Bust) Wilkinson going to be there?  You can't go wrong with June!  She can twist all night!

I finished watching the James Dean documentary. I only had about 25 minutes left. Marvelous to see the clips from GIANT in enhanced for widescreen TV mode. More about that in a minute.

I got the two disc set of GIANT for Christmas last year and had not opened it, so after the Dean documentary, I put in GIANT.

As some may or may not know, Warners remastered/restored the film but when transferring it to DVD, Warners did not enhance the image for widescreen TVs. Thus it's a simple letterbox.

When the credits came up in their semi-blurry not especially colorful guise, I almost started to cry. I was so upset that this classic was going to look so terrible.

Thankfully, the image itself turned out to be nicely saturated and sharp, if not razor-sharp (which anamorphic encoding would have accomplished). I watched the entire first side of the disc, and while disappointed it's not everything it could have been, I was pleased that dirt and damage are nowhere to be seen on the film. I will finish it tomorrow.

Saw my third and probably last episode of THRESHOLD. The show's subsequent episodes seem to have them chasing down those men who were infected by that 4-D sphere in the pilot episode, and this alien manhunt just hasn't turned out to be very interesting. Also, they're totally wasting the marvelous actor Peter Dinklage which I find more than mildly irritating. So, that will now free up an hour on Friday night.
