As I left the laundromat, about 60 yards from my apartment, after putting the laundry in the dryers, another sownpour began. I ran all the way back tomy apartment, but I am soaked to the skin and need to change clothes. Damn!

Man I wish we would have a downpour....or a drop of rain for that much.  My landscaper told me they dug down 8 feet and not a bit of moisture, just dust.  I can't stand a drought

Then I hope tongiht's dinner is not too big of a disappointment!

A few years ago my mom called to invite me to a special celebration.....it was the anniversary of Swanson TV dinners!  Just mom, dad, me and a tv dinner for each of us

Then a few of us went out to a nearby Mexican restaurant for dinner, after which I stopped at the mail place to pick up an important envelope, which, for the second week in a row, wasn't there.  It had best be there tomorrow.  But there was one other piece of mail and that was very disturbing but it was too late to call and find out anything - very nerve-wracking having to wait until morning.

I survived September....whew!  This has been one of the busiest months I've had in years and years.   It ended with news that we won an asylum case I've been working on for 5 years and that the government will allow an entire family to stay in the US.  They were considering just deporting the mother.   I was concerned about both cases so the good news was very welcome.

Now I am really tired...  I cancelled several plans for the weekend so I can just veg out.  No briefs to write, no hearings to prepare for...October will be a lot of working at the office instead of driving here there and everywhere to do hearings

I voted yesterday.  It was the first day of early voting.  In Iowa if you vote early, they notify both parties that you've voted and you get taken off of all the calling lists....they could care a less if you live or die once you've already voted.   Now all I need is the mute button and I should be fine

I went to the City council meeting to complain about the stupid don't feed the deer or turkeys but ok to feed the squirrels and birds ordinance.   They showed part of my comments on TV.  I have had more people tell me that they saw that clip and they are against the ordinance than anything I've ever done.  It's hilarious.  People walk up on the street to say "I saw you on tv.  I agree about the deer"  LOL

On a whim, I just watched OUTLAND which I'd never seen.  Fun.  Very ... 1981.

Tomorrow, an annual fall ritual -- the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival in Saugerties, NY.  This festival is about 20 years old now, and it's great fun, but it's nothing like the good ones in California.  I never got to Gilroy, but even little street ones in L.A. are more fabulous.  Nevertheless, there's lots of good fresh garlic to be had and it's a fun day.  I will be E&T till tomorrow evening.

:o That sounds ominous...I wonder what it could be about.

Well, earlier this evening, I went to my union's board meeting...for the last two meetings, we only had four people attend.  To our amazement, we had sixteen, count 'em, SIXTEEN people show up!  We actually went for about two and a half hours...and it was quite productive.  We got a couple of committees started, we made some decisions and talked about what we want done and how to go about getting them done.  But mostly, we talked a lot about the upcoming negotiations.  Everyone came out of the meeting feeling really good about the whole thing. :D
