Friday morning greetings!  Had a fun pre-Middfest discussion of Ina Caro's Paris to the Past last night with a small crowd.  Next week I'm co-leading a discussion of 2 books by Tilar Mazzeo - one about Chanel No. 5 and the other about Veuve Clicquot champagne.  Looking forward to Middfest being over so I can get back to my England reading.

DR Ginny - Will the discussion include samples of the parfum and Champagne? ;)

Well, I'm workin' on it, DR Jose!  We're meeting at the public library so we can't serve alcohol.  The wine manager at Dorothy Lane Market recommended a non-alcoholic alternative that I will buy next week.  And I'm going to stop at Macy's to see if they have a scratch 'n' sniff sample.  I may have to buy myself some parfum to feel right about asking for freebies...

What a dreary day.

Odd that I should say that, because I usually don't mind a chilly rainy day, but I could have done without this one.  Go figure.  I need to get moving and turn it into something good.  You know.  Make lemonade.

Although the temptation would be there, even I might pass on eating those critters. Just not sure if I could do it.

I hope the owl wasn't the main course.

TOD:

DVD:
Digging into some Bollywood jungle man movies. Tarzan-like.

DVR:
Some 1940/50s crime films recorded off of TCM this week.

Last night was: MY TRUE STORY (1951) with Helen Walker and Willard Parker trying to convince the audience that they are a young couple playing a young couple caught up in a jewell heist scheme. Aldo Ray, who actually was young in this film, was also in the cast in a supporting role.

It was a pretty darn entertaining film, however.

Thank you, MBarnum and Marie. Those are some cute kittens. Was the lost mittens reference a subtle  political reference?

Today is Friday...and as is the norm, I just can't help being happy enough to stop off at some local "wonderful bakery" for a box of goodies for my co-workers.

Today's treat:

Morning buns from La Farine!

Mine is TODAY, happily!

I also have one on Monday...my military retirement payday is the first of each month.

Life is very good sometimes!

The laundry is finished and final trips to and from the laundromat were dry ones. I will now get to work and accomplish a few things.

I've always found it strange when people talk/write about how cold a show they felt SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE was.  I believe it was the one Sondheim show where I teared up the most while watching it.

I agree. I think it just some people repeat visits/listens to get what it was about or to understand the music.
