Good news!  I don't have listeria!

On Sunday, my sisters came for a visit and for a treat I bought two bags of Indiana brand kettlecorn.  Well, yesterday a report came out that the company was recalling bags of their popcorn because they were contaminated with listeria bacteria.  As luck would have it, we didn't finish the popcorn and I had put the leftovers into the bag so I was able to check it out when I got home.  Thankfully, the bag size was not among the list of recalled items.  I wouldn't doubt that the company will eventually recall all product so I'm holding onto the bags just in case.  But none of us have been experiencing any of the symptoms associated with listeria, so I guess we are in the clear.

The end.

My "Ask BK" question:  You mentioned a book fair in Pasadena this weekend...How are the book fairs these days?  When I left, it had pretty much become dealers selling to dealers and the finds were few and far between.  Have they gotten any better or more interesting?  Being where I am these days, we don't much hear of book fairs anymore.  The Pulpfest in Columbus, Ohio, is the only one I get to now.

Wednesday morning greetings!  It's cool and dreary here in SW Ohio today.  This evening I'm co-leading a pre-Middfest discussion on 2 books by Tilar Mazzeo:

The Widow Clicquot: The Story of a Champagne Empire and the Woman Who Ruled It

and

The Secret of Chanel No. 5: The Intimate History of the World's Most Famous Perfume

I had a flu shot last week and had no reaction. In fact, I didn't even feel it.

My shot this morning was completely painless. I had nver had areaction before last year so I'm hoping it was a fluke.

Forgot to post this yesterday, but I went to visit the doctor for the first since surgery in February. No trace of cancer. I'm very happy at that news, as you can imagine.

DR JohnG, I must have been thinking about other things on the board, but I managed to gloss right over your post.  What fatastic news!  I hope the good vibes continue into your employment zone.

Mikey, I was a huge Little Lulu fan as a kid. I'm surprised I never before saw a card with her and Tubby.

Thank you, all.

I had a Little Lulu question. She doesn't have a cakehole (the layered equivalent of a piehole, I would presume), so how can she consume the cake in her hand?

These are the mysteries of the universe.

Mikey, I was a huge Little Lulu fan as a kid. I'm surprised I never before saw a card with her and Tubby.

Little Lulu. Little Lulu,
With frekles on her chin,
Always in and out of trouble,
But mostly alway in.

Using daddy's necktie for the tail of your kite
Using mommy's lipstick for the letters you write
Though the clock strikes seven thirty, it's really after ten,
Looks like Lulu's been repairing it again.

Though she's wild as any Zulu
And she's just as hard to tame.
Little Lulu I love you-you
Just the same the same
Little Lulu I love you-you
Just the same!
