Guten Morgen Larry and Edi :-)

...I want to see the show because it's Company but I must admit I'm beginning to tire of the concept of stripped down musicals. Bobby sitting at the piano playing and singing Being Alive seems more like a cabaret show than Company. Oh, well. We shall see. At least I'm seeing the show. I had planned on seeing it anyway and now I'm confirmed....A stripped down Bobby, sitting at the piano with nothing but a thong! Gives the "Being Alive" number a whole new meaning, doesn't it!
Tesco last night denied the pole dancing kit was sexually oriented and said it was clearly marked for "adult use".
A spokesman added: "Pole dancing is an increasing exercise craze. This item is for people who want to improve their fitness and have fun at the same time."
I try to eat salmon (wild caught) once a week. I buy it frozen at Trader Joe's (my favorite place to shop).
each time I thought I had started to get a handle on what was going on, a new quirk or twist would happen, and I felt like yelling "..Aaaaarrgggghh !"
I was also in radio club and ran projectors.
I was in the Astronomy club and my father ran numbers.
Guess I better go get cleaned up for today's outing.
Salmon and trout are my two favorite fishes. I love mussels, clam, crab, lobster, sea urchin, eel, abalone, and there is so much more I haven't even tried yet.
Sea urchin. You're hardcore! So far, I think you qualify as the seafood king, MBarnum!
There is a sushi that has sea urchin and it is quite yummy! Probably much tastier then the fresh from the bottom of the sea version you tried! LOL!
DR Cillaliz re: that dancing with the stars predictor site.
It doesn't seem to be working right now. But it made perfect sense the week i looked at it (the week before last).
It showed emmitt in first with 25. That means he had 25% of the vote. Mario was in second with 13%. To me that means that emmitt is the most popular by far (since others like jerry springer had only 5 %)
Our hosts cooked the mussels, and then opened the sea urchins and ate them raw. They insisted I eat one, too. As I put this disgusting slimy yellow creature in my mouth, they took my picture.
Why am I stuck in a small dark room, honing my craft, like a sniper?
I don't do sushi.
Or caviar.
Hey...everbody loves a cheap date 8)

Well, I fell into some luck. I will be seeing Company next Wednesday, November 1st. A friend's friend can't use her ticket so I am the lucky recipient. It's in the rear mezz of the Barrymore but it's a TDF ticket so I can live with it.

Company starring Hugh Panaro is playing at the 5th Avenue Theatre (http://www.5thavenue.org/show/Company0607/) in Seattle. I'd really like to see it (it closes November 5th), but I don't know if I can with rehearsals, and all. Hopefully, I can make it. :)
And John didn't play Allison's husband....he played her BROTHER in 77 SUNSET STRIP. Did he have anything to say about her?
Tried it not too long ago, though, and it didn't live up to what i remembered from decades ago.
Does anyone else see hints of Anthony Hopkins in MBarnum's avatar (the young, handsome Anthony Hopkins, that is, of course).
I like seafood but it is ridiculously expensive here.. ONe can get locally raised walleye for a reasonable price but things like salmon and stuff are very high priced.
We will expect a full report on COMPANY, DRBEN....unless IT'S house goes off the track.
Edi, if we come to Atlanta can we go to:
NETHERWORLD
Stuff is pretty high priced here in Indiana, too, DR DAKOTACELT.
By all means, but wouldn't you rather go to the NETHERLANDS?
Been there, done that. (Oh my, did I do that!)

Lobster is my favorite...
Lobster Savannah
dapted from Locke-Ober Café, Boston
Time: 35 minutes
4 2-pound lobsters, cooked and cooled
2 tablespoons butter
12 large white mushrooms, chopped into 1/2-inch pieces
3 shallots, peeled and finely chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, chopped into 1/2-inch pieces
1/4 cup brandy
1/2 cup cream sherry
2 cups heavy cream
Pinch of paprika
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Juice of half a lemon, or to taste
1/4 cup finely grated Parmigiano- Reggiano cheese.
1. Remove lobster claws and knuckles, crack them open and reserve meat. Using heavy kitchen shears, cut a long 1 1/2-inch- wide rectangle out of the top of each lobster body, extending from about 2 inches behind eyes to about 1 inch from tail. Keeping body in one piece, carefully pry meat from tail, and set aside. Remove any meat from body cavity, as well as the green tomalley (liver), and set aside. Rinse lobster bodies and reserve.
2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut lobster meat into 1-inch chunks, and set aside in a bowl with tomalley. Place a large sauté pan over high heat, and melt butter. Add mushrooms, and stir until mushrooms begin to release their juices, 1 to 2 minutes. Add shallots and red pepper, and stir until liquid has evaporated and vegetables begin to brown.
3. Remove pan from heat, and add brandy and sherry. Carefully touch a lighted match to mixture to flame it. When flames subside, place pan over medium-high heat. Add heavy cream, paprika and salt and pepper to taste. Add lobster meat and tomalley to pan, and stir. Add lemon juice, and adjust seasonings to taste. Allow sauce to simmer until lobster is heated and sauce is slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
4. Place reserved lobster bodies in a large baking pan. Place equal portions of lobster mixture in cavities of bodies, and sprinkle with Parmigiano-Reggiano. Bake until cheese is lightly browned, 2 to 3 minutes. Serve immediately.
Yield: 4 servings.
I should have known you would know where to find the boys AND the booze! 8)
I remember being rather fond of Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips. Tried it not too long ago, though, and it didn't live up to what i remembered from decades ago.
Fish = :P
Fish = :P
Poor George.
Not even a tuna melt?
For those who like a nice and briny 3 inch oyster, this is a good one. It is grown on the shores of Dabob Bay, which extends off of the northern end of Hood Canal in Washington State. It is harvested at a young age to keep it small and perfect for those who enjoy oysters eaten raw off the half shell. You can expect to taste the ocean freshness and yet enjoy a sweet after taste when eating this wonderful oyster.
Nope...not even a tuna melt. I do like McDonald's Filet-O-Fish and most "Fish and Chips" kind of fish, but that's probably because they're breaded and deep fried and don't really taste like "fish." To me, they're really just crunchy breading for the tartar sauce.
;)
Anyone feel like Ballin' the Jack?
I'm so intrigued by the story from DRs Elmore and FJL about the Mary Poppins audience being sent home last night. Does that sort of thing happen often? Anybody have any other stories along the same lines?
Another guilty pleasure:
Ooh! I must have missed something. Did the audience misbehave?
...
Wouldn't it be nice if we could send home misbehaving audience members?
I had no idea that any of these were still around. The one or two times I ate at them, I loved the food.

Considering how much I love fish, I've never developed an appreciation for raw oysters. They fall into the sea urchin "beat you to the swallow" category. Or as my little French boy says, "they're too sleeemy"!

If you can survive a nasty head cold, you can eat a raw oyster!
Did your 'Liittle French Boy" like "sleeemy" escargots?

DRMBARNUM - John Gabriel is GREAT in The Hunters.
DF Ann and I will be seeing it this Saturday night. Should make an interesting counterpoint to the matinee of Sweet Charity we're also seeing Saturday, starring Molly Ringwald. ::)
I'm sure all the other DR's know the answer to this, but what is the venue for your interviews, MBarnum?
ENjoyed the information and pics of John Gabriel. I wasn't familiar with him by name, and the pictrues didn't ring a bell either, but it's obvious he has had a nice career. I'm sure he gnashes his teeth a bit to think he'd live in immortality if they hadn't recast the Professor with Russell Johnson.
In today's mail: Season 3 of the 1960s TV series "Adventures in Paradise."
Orered today: Season 1 of the 1960s TV series "Adventures in Paradise."
I'm not familiar with John Gabriel, but I have to say that he certainly has aged better than the real professor, Russell whoever. In fact, I think he's more handsome now than in his youth! Wow!

Well, if you get to season 2 of ADVENTURES IN PARADISE you will get to see Cal Bolder in the episode A Whale of a Tale
Of course, my Astaire-Rogers set HAS YET TO SHIP!
Unbelievable!
Of course, my Astaire-Rogers set HAS YET TO SHIP!I didn't know Astaire and Rogers made a film titled "Yet To Ship." Do you know who wrote the songs?
Unbelievable!
Still trying to figure out the Save the Cheerleader Save teh world bit...
It's the tag line from "Heroes." I really like this show. I also really like "Ugly Betty," and I have to go home before rehearsal tonight to set my VCR to tape it. "Ugly Betty" the only show on tonight that I want to watch.
One episode of THE THIN MAN tv series featured a guest appearance by Robby the Robot - and I have a vivid memory of him holding Kirk in his arms... Robby was also on an episode of The Gale Storm Show walking around the decks of the Ocean Queen with Susannah in his arms.
Robby got around!
DR EDISAURUS - to see John Gabriel at his handsomest....check out THE HUNTERS - available on DVD - very handsome....even standing next to Robert Wagner...the 1956 brand of Robert Wagner.

And it was nice seeing the lead from last year's unjustly canceled comedy OUT OF PRACTICE as Betty's potential new boy friend.
How can you get any more handsome than the black and white headshot of the more mature John Gabriel (that I can't seem to find anymore!)
Found on his Hofstr U (http://www.hofstra.edu/CampusL/Culture/Culture_Gabriel.cfm) website.
Just read:
Actor Arthur Hill is dead, starred on T-V as 'Owen Marshall'
He appeared in the original cast of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolfe.
Film appearances include The Andromeda Strain and Futureworld. He was also the first murder on Murder She Wrote and his character came back ten years later only to become a victim.
He died from Alzheimer disease. He last acted back in 1990.
Mmmmmmm...Hofstra....I like him even more!
Page eight octopus head dance...
UGLY BETTY was thoroughly delightful tonight. I just love the nephew who was going out for Halloween as Gene Kelly in ON THE TOWN. This is a show that knows one segment of its audience extremely well! Funny and had some touching moments, too. WOnderful show.
