i feel so bad.  i didn't see on my calendar i had an appointment for pt today.  i was waiting until i saw the orthopedists to let him know what was happening.  my pt guy just called to see where i was.  he said he won't charge me and when i return we will work on my wrist and shoulder, which won't likely be for at least 6 weeks.

I'd discuss my visit to the hand surgeon, but Jane has a corner on that market :)

... i was in danger of loosing it about 20 years ago
...What happened and are you ok?

A. I am always in danger of loosing it.

B. Well, although I exchew all heavy house work, I've had Housemaid's Knee.  And, although I never swing a racket, I've have had Tennis Elbow,  Now, even though I don't own a gun I have Trigger Finger.

The  hand surgeon discussed a range of options from "Suck It Up" to amputation, but I settled on a modest approach that starts with an injection of a steroid solution deep into the carpel tunnel surrounding the finger's ligament and applying an ice pack twice a day for a few weeks.

Icing the hand is presenting other minor problems - finding a small re-usable pack. At the moment I'm using a small blue ice pack designed for tiny coolers.

At its worst, it is an annoyance, so VixMom might save the prayer list for more needy folk.

The arboretum is closed today while the firefighting goes on around it. So far it is safe. It's out in the middle of nowhere with very dry desert all around.

We have had no lightening, so it is obviously a man-caused fire. The auto makers put ashtrays in cars for a reason.

ETA: 500 acres so far

My car does not have an ash tray

TOD:

The Last Picture Show
What's Up, Doc?
Texasville
At Long Last Love (favorite doesn't mean it has to be good)

I've seen too many unfunny comedies over the years from "The Hangover" and "Meet the Parents" to "Finding Nemo." But I think "1941" is probably the longest, least funny movie I've ever seen.

John G., I think you are the first person I have ever known who didn't like FINDING NEMO!

Dr Derbrucer, that is very scary.  are you at risk for your entire hand or your trigger finger?

No word on "Follies," FJL?

Nah, I don't want to get into a debate over it or about Eric Schaeffer and I felt where the vibe was going on this production the other day.  I've enjoyed so much of Eric Schaeffer's work, and his track record with my having been entertained by his work is as great as any director I can think of.  The highs are not as high as with some other directors, but the percentage of thoroughly enjoyable experiences is very high, and when I say thoroughly enjoyable, that's much higher than competent.

The projects he chooses to do and how he does them (rumors have it he's very much choose the right actors,  let the actors find the way it'll go and  then mold from there - or something like that, which some people seem to deride) really has resulted in  many productions I've had a great time at.

Why can't you express your opinion on FOLLIES, without starting a debate?

John G - OK. I really enjoyed it,as the first time I've ver seen it fully staged  - and it was much better in terms of holding together on Sunday.  Several of the supporting players were really really messy on Saturday, and Bernadette Peters either was under the weather or trying something unexpectedl with Losing My Mind but was vocally perfect on Sunday in a traditional way.

One note:  I hope Regine is having a great time doing this show, because her number will always be eclipsed by Linda Lavin's Broadway Baby, or at least that's how it felt even on Sunday night..

Who is Regine and what numberr does she sing?

I have only seen FOLLIES staged one time, and that was the "celebrity-studded (Constance Towers, Judy Kaye, Edie Adams, Virginia Mayo, etc.)"  prodcution at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle.  To me, FOLLIES is incredible for the first 3/4 of the show; but it collapses when we get to Loveland.  Just my opinion.

I am always surprised to see people tossing cigarette butts out the car windows. The desert is so dry this time of year.

If cars don't have ashtrays, do they also not have lighters?  With no lighter, where would one plug in the cell phone charger ???
