Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a teal and orange push, and now it is time for you to post until the teal and orange cows come home.

A Very Happy Birthday to DR Elmore!! ;D

Happiest of Days to our dear friend Larry Moore!!!
thanks, DR Ben! I loved the birthday card!
-
Thanks, BK! Cantankerous? Moi?
Good morning, all! I am celebrating my birthday with a bone density exam. I have no idea whatthe hell it is, but I will learn at 9:00 this morning. Following that, I will return here and do little but hang out. I'm now 66, on social security and Medicare, and definitely in the 47% that Mitt Romney looks on with scorn, although for the past 20 years every bit of that social security has been paid for by no employer but myself.
The last two days have been long and intense, and I'm ready to do nothing for a day before I have to jump into revisions for the Appalachian reading on Monday.
Tonight, I'm havng dinner with my baritone friend Kyle Guglielmo before he heads off to work with an opera company in Florida, sarasota I think.
DR Ginny, your card arrived in yesterday's post. Thank you.
-
Good morning, all.
Happiest of birthdays, Larry.
In honor of your political comment, here's an anti-Romney bit you may enjoy. Dorothy Loudon singing a Kander-Ebb song that was the theme of the TV series, "The Thorns." (Frankly, I thought the video laid it on a little thick, but it's always nice to be reminded of a Kander-Ebb song.)

A long flight home yesterday.
It was late leaving due to weather.
Instead of flying down the east coast of Florida we had to fly over to the west coast and then fly back to east coast and Miami.
When we got to Miami we had to circle the airport until there was a break in the weather.
I actually heard a change in the engine when we got the okay to land.
We landed at the opposite end of the terminal that the flight usually lands at and was a long walk to the moving sidewalk to get to the parking lot.
And then 45 minute drive home.
And now to work

A Little Night Densch requests have been noted. I ripped the cd last night on my desktop and I'll begin to make copies tonight.
Looking the cd over, I thought it was interesting that the poster art for the production is barely used in the package (not that it was all that great of an image.)

The test was essentially an x-ray of my left arm and two scans of my spine. I was out of there by 9:30. Of course, that doesn't mean there aren't problems, but I suspect my doctor thought it should be a part of my reaching Old Cootdom.

I believe that location opened last February (2011). The original storefront is on the Lower East Side. Some other Hainsies and Kimlets have been there. ;)

Today I'm going to see THE BIRDS on the big screen, one of the TCM/Fathom satellite-delivered "events". It will be my first of these (and, if things go poorly, my last). But ya gotta experience one sometime. And I wanted to take the opportunity to see the movie projected large and get a look at this 100th-anniversary "restoration". Not at all sure how good my judgement will be on it, but I shall look and try to learn.

The Birds is coming.....

Jose, that is so not fair. All I have to snack on at work are raw almonds and seaweed sheets. OK, and some 90% dark chocolate. Not a bad snack after all.

And...
I'm still in my hotel room since I had to deal with some changes to my travel plans. I now have to be back in NYC on Monday, October 1, for the day - well, a few hours.
So, instead of flying back in Dulles that afternoon from Chicago, I will now be flying back to LGA early(!) that morning. Then running a casting session(!!) for three hours. Then flying back to Dulles from JFK that afternoon.
Whew!

Good Day...
Sorry I have been a bit errant... I have been working on some genealogy data a cousin sent me and spent the better part of last week doing projects for my mother that included cleaning the garden, putting away patio furniture, and planters for the winter. The only items left in the garden is squash and carrots. My mother does not want to dig up the carrots until after we have a frost. She she still wants to do some additional outdoor cleaning before winter and the hose box will be hauled down later. I did have fun and watched my nephew play in a high school football game in East Grand Forks. Amazing, he is a senior this year. Where does the time go! The team his school played is highly ranked in the state of Minnesota. Even though they lost by 13 points, they came back from a 30 point deficit in the final quarter of the game.
I did have a piece of fiber art that was installed, taken down, and reinstalled last week. It was part of the Knit Broadway project where people made sleeves for the light posts in downtown Fargo. Sadly, some miscreants marred this project by stealing or vandalizing some of the sleeves. It was sad to see this done to a someone's hard work.
Here is a closeup of the one i did:

Bullying is a strong word. Was it truly "bullying"?
Bullying = Use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants.
When they made the first call, were they told they were barking up the wrong tree?
Someone obviously presumed her to be a Democrat rather than a supporter of another party altogether. It's highly unusual for anyone to call back after being told no, and certainly they are less likely to call a declared anti-Democrat once that sentiment is made clear.

It nearly started off that way!
Boy, I truly don't know what to think. Haven't watched the film in a few years, so it was really fantastic seeing it on a big screen. But the image quality was just weird. I need to spot check some places on the latest DVD while it's fresh in my mind.

DR Elmore's birthday treat was calling me on the telephone today. I haven't chatted with Elmore in forever, and it was wonderful to here his cantankerous voice again. I let him abuse and insult me for almost 30 minutes, and now he feels much better about being older than dirt.
Love you Larry! ;D

Back from a 600 calorie lunch at the Daily Grill, picking up a couple of packages, and am now updating the iPhone to its new operating system. Once I'm done with that, I'll do other work, then rehearse, then comp vocals. The Outside The Box shoot is confirmed for a week from Thursday and Friday - doing two episodes.

Register once for any party and they never leave you alone. In our house we get hit by both sides.
Sometimes I feel like the people who call for survey's are bulling me into it, or extremely insistent. I have found the one & only advantage to my hearing problem, I tell them I can't hear to carry on a conversation & they get right off.

I'm having peanut butter on celery. When I'm finished my break will be over & I will begin windexing.

Last night I went to see the wonderful Ramin Karimloo at the "Birchmere" (I imagine DR Jose is familiar with it) in Alexandria (Va.). He did a very eclectic mix of songs --everything from bluegrass to gospel to country to rock to Broadway. He also played the electric banjo and guitar. I had read that he hasn't been performing the song I first heard him sing, "Till I Hear You Sing," from Love Never Dies, so I knew not to expect it. I do prefer his singing of Broadway songs to other types, and he was great on "Bring Him Home" and "Music of the Night." He also sang a song from Ragtime, which I didn't really know, but enjoyed.
Here's what he didn't sing:

Keith uses the Windex more than I do because I'm allergic to it. When the spray top came loose and the bottom part with the windex fell and spilled it also splattered all over my face, in my eye and in my mouth. Yuck!

DR Elmore's birthday treat was calling me on the telephone today. I haven't chatted with Elmore in forever, and it was wonderful to here his cantankerous voice again. I let him abuse and insult me for almost 30 minutes, and now he feels much better about being older than dirt.
Love you Larry! ;D
ROTFLMAO!!!!

Well, I must be off. I'm going to the usher training at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. We're supposed to get refreshed every couple of years. In the 15+ years that I've been ushering there, I've gone just once...and that was only about seven or eight years ago. I learned "on the job." But now, they want things a little more official, so I'll officially go through the training again.
Be back later!

All the political calls I get are recorded. Easy to hang up on those.
Now, surveys are another matter...I am more than happy to take the time to take a survey.
I wish I knew you when I worked for the survey research center in Kentucky. We had to make sure so many people filled out the survey and sometimes the survey took 45 minutes on such scintillating topics as acid rain.

You have to learn how to ration programs, treat customers rudely and show them to the wrong seats? Oh, those are the ushers here in San Antonio.

Half the time when I take a survey they ask a question I refuse to answer, or even worse, they suddenly discover I don't fit the category & don't need my responses anymore.

I think surveys have changed so much now that people can fill them out online.
We would also travel the state and do surveys on a grand scale. One was to interview every single child who was a ward of the state. Some were hardened criminals, others were mentally disabled and could barely hold their head up, much less answer a survey on the conditions they were living in. One of the juvenile delinquents wanted to rape one of the women on my team. It was quite the eye-opener.

For lack of anything better to do, I have been wandering thru YouTube.com. I came across the Finale from the film version of A CHORUS LINE. That was probably, almost, the single saving grace of that film. As i watched them perform, ONE, I started feeling really sorry for the cast of the film. They probably thought that they truly made it in show business having been cast in the film verrsion of THE #1 MUSICAL.
How could they know at the time, that the film would turn out to be on of the biggest disasters since the sinking of the Andrea Doria?

Today I'm going to see THE BIRDS on the big screen, one of the TCM/Fathom satellite-delivered "events". It will be my first of these (and, if things go poorly, my last). But ya gotta experience one sometime. And I wanted to take the opportunity to see the movie projected large and get a look at this 100th-anniversary "restoration". Not at all sure how good my judgement will be on it, but I shall look and try to learn.
Is this the silent version of THE BIRDS?
It nearly started off that way!
Boy, I truly don't know what to think. Haven't watched the film in a few years, so it was really fantastic seeing it on a big screen. But the image quality was just weird. I need to spot check some places on the latest DVD while it's fresh in my mind.
The movie is fill of opticals (rear projections, matte work, and multiple overlays (not sure of the technical term but adding a lot more birds than there realy were) and I am not sure how good it can look even with a "restoration"
The movie I really would like to see is Lawrence of Arabia, but they will not project it in 70mm as there are hardly any theaters left that have a screen that big.

A very, very, very happy birthday to DR Elmore! May it be the best on yet but not the best one every, let that be yet to come!!!!!!
Hugs!!!!!!!!

I found several monarch caterpillars today. They are very tiny.

Good Day...

My thesis is now up on Proquest in its disquisition database...
You did this, Dakota? I am most impressed.
Yes, I did... Thank you!
Most impressive!!!!

Good work session with Juliana. Now on my way to comp some teal and orange vocals.

After a good meeting with the volunteer administrators, I took myself to lunch at Chipotle and then did errands at Barnes & Noble, the Miami Township Branch of Dayton Metro Library, Starbucks, and Dorothy Lane Market. Our wireless was acting up, so Richard had us offline for a while and now it seems to be fine.

Yes, you have.

It's too late in the evening for existential questions. Ask in the morning. Maybe there will answer available then.

Would love to see the soundtrack of Centennial released someday...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR ELMORE!!!
-
Good Evening!
I had a great time catching up with my Auntie Tess, Uncle Chito and their son, Joseph, and his girlfriend, Sherry. We had dinner at nice seafood jernt on the water in Edmonds, WA. After dinner, we headed back to their house for some coffee and dessert, halo-halo! And then Joseph drove me home.
=It was great to see my Auntie in very good spirits and relatively good health. She's had some major health issues over the past couple of years, but she's started to gain some more mobility and agility, and that, in turn, has been helping her spirit.

And in about 12-13 hours, I shall be meeting DRs TCB and George for the first time! And now... I think I'm going to start winding down for the evening. I got up early today, probably a little too early, and with my jet lag finally hitting, well... I'm already quite sleepy. So... I may check in later, but just in case I don't...
Goodnight.

Well, I need to go to bed now. I must get up early so that I can be bright eyed and bushy tailed for our mini HHW gathering in Seattle! I'll take pictures but won't be able to post until tomorrow night, at the earliest.
Have a good Thursday, all!
