Okay....well....it is known among those who read my posts exactly what I think of WILL & GRACE and Miss Debra Messing in particular.

I will only say that IF the writing had been as good and the acting had been as good as about 1/3 of tonight's episode this series would have been a classic earning much greater respect among many viewers - this one included.

Including Miss Debra Messing.  :-\

Oh hey I got my Youmans Through the Years CD today - but it's NOT a show....this is a CD of Youmans songs through the years.  I must have clicked on the wrong link.

On the other hand, and I know this will make MBarnum and others happy - our very own Seattle gal, Miss Jessica Skerritt, has moved to LA and we'll be meeting tomorrow after I do a little vocal session with Mr. Guy Haines.

Great news!  I saw her in a show here in Olympia and she was just delightful. ;D

I'm off now to usher for A Little Night Music.  I'm hoping it's good.  It's a college production.  Later. :)

I began writing a new play this afternoon.  Still feeling my way, but I did three pages, and some of it is funny, so that's good.  It takes two or three days to get comfortable with the charcters' voices, so I'll be futzing with it quite a bit, but so far, I'm very happy with the names I've chosen for them.

Good playwriting vibes to bk!!

Dear DR DakotaCelt: Earthquakes are, by and large, less dramatic than you have seen in the movies, particularly in California.  For one thing, while there is constant tremoring, the vast majority of the tremors are too faint to be detected by humans.  When the tremors are strong enough to be felt, most of the time it's a little jolt, and people look around and say "Oh, we must have just had an earthquate, tra-la!" and go on their merry way.

When the quakes are sizable, which doesn't happen that often, there can be some structural damage, but most buildings in California are built to withstand the shaking.  This includes the film studios.  If you've seen buildings falling down in films, it's because special effects wizards have designed sets to do that.  They rarely fall down and go boom in real life.

This is not to say that buildings don't fall down.  It's just that the buildings that fall down are usually located in Japan or the Middle East.
To which our dear TCB replied:

Now let me see if I understand this whole thing............ Every time an earthquake rattles Southern California, a building falls down in Japan or the Middle East?
Well, it does make a rethinking of the whole WMD-thing necessary, doesn't it!

Last night's "Bones":

No Spoiler

As much as I enjoy this show, I was too done in to enjoy it tonight.  I nodded off in my rocking chair...and virtually every attempt I made to snap out of it over the course of the hour was met with strong resistance.

Ron we didn’t think it was one of the better episodes.

Thanks for the heads up on the episode, Jack!  I've been so thoroughly disappointed in this show this season that you give me hope it may redeem itself before its last episode.

Last night's "Lost":

SPOILER

Interesting episode, but I'm not too sure how I feel about that last shot in Hurley's "flashback" (?) with Libby being one of the patients in his mental institution.

I know these people are all on the island for a reason...and they obviously have connections in some form or another.  But....this one goes hand-in-hand with a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" episode in its 5th or 6th season in which Buffy was in an institution in LA and her life in Sunnyvale -- and her status as a slayer -- were just figments of her imagination.  And the episode led you to think that she was either being manipulated into thinking she had a Sunnyvale existence...or that we, the audience, were the ones being manipulated.

That was my least favorite Buffy episode.  And I think last night's "Lost" will rank as my least favorite of all, so far.
Ah, but Giles and Buffy had a good laugh about it when he returned from England for the season finale.
"Ah, that would explain a lot," I believe was his line.

And there was the ep "Far Beyond the Stars," on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine where Benjamin Sisco (Avery Brooks) imagines himself as 20th century sci-fi writer Benny.

Quote
Maybe, just maybe, Benny isn't the dream: we are. Maybe we're nothing more than figments of his imagination. For all we know, at this very moment, somewhere, far beyond all those distant stars... Benny Russell is dreaming of us.

Benny was brought in again, in the seventh-season opener, as I recall.

You start calling old friends by your long-deceased dog's name...

There's a little trick to choosing a "drag" name, according to one of the episodes of "Will and Grace."

You choose the name of your first pet...and the name of the first street you lived on.

My first pet was an Eskimo Spitz.

That would give me a drag name of:  "Dinky-Boo Young"

We lived on Young Street in a small town.  The dog was named Dinky, but I was very small...and whenever I addressed the dog, it was "Dinky....BOO!"

Thus, the name stuck.  I'd give a pretty to hear my father calling Dinky-Boo from the back door at supper time.

So....I sure hope I've not called anyone else "Dinky-Boo"
