And, yes, we indeed have a busy afternoon - about 130 Men, so about 280 in total for the day. Although it was nice to get through almost every one who had signed up (as per Equity Chorus Call procedures), due to the semi-surprisingly large turnout, we had to request that each person only sing 8 bars. Yes, that's usually enough to tell if a person can sing, but, man can some of those 8 bar cuts be short(!). -Of course, there were a few people who just kept on singing after the designated 8 bars... And singing... And singing... In fact, I stopped twice in the middle of one woman's piece since I thought she was done... twice. 20 bars later, when she came to the piano to pick up her music, she commented to me, "Oh, I know that song is hard to play.." -No, you wrote "STOP" in the music so I stopped. (And she written in "STOP" at one place.) -And we told everyone to prepare 8 bars." In any case...
I had a wonderful time today in the room with the folks from Binder Casting and the ever-amazing and uber-talented Rob Berman - who was back from Chicago after getting the new production of Passion open there (with Ana Gasteyer).
