Well, you've read the notes, the notes were unbound and very determined, and now it is time for you to post until the unbound and determined cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TORRID!
-
Or a partularly vociferous eater either
Speaking of eating.......How long after your chemo treatments did it take for your taste buds to return?
More than a year...I never got them back completely. Many things have to be strongly seasoned for me to taste them. Some things still taste "wrong" like imitation version of the food.
At Beaches tonight we saw the gentleman who recently went through chemo & radiation in his mouth. Usually he can only drink a milkshake. Tonight he had managed a little of his wife's pasta. I guess it will be a long time before he can taste food again :(
-
I keep falling asleep.
-
'night
-
Night, Jane.
-
Tom, I'm watching Stephen Colbert and laughed out loud, too!
-
Good night, Jane.
-
I don’t think I am going to make it to the TLT Gala tomorrow.
-
I have Amazon Music playing on my TV. I am listening to “The Essential Stephen Sondheim”
-
I have Amazon Musicplaying on my TV. I am listening to “The Essential Stephen Sondheim”
But...ALL Sondheim is essential!
-
;)
-
The first cut is “America” from the movie, but the only singer they mention is Suzie Kaye(?). She plays Rosalia!
-
I have Amazon Musicplaying on my TV. I am listening to “The Essential Stephen Sondheim”
But...ALL Sondheim is essential!
It has 30 songs, so it is fairly essential.
-
But I am not crazy with all of their performance choices. “Comedy Tonight” is from Jerome Robbins’ Broadway by Jason Alexander.
-
Okay, Jason done good!
-
Okay, Jason done good!
Well, he did win the Tony Award for that performance.
-
I guess I might as well say good night.
-
Okay, Jason done good!
Well, he did win the Tony Award for that performance.
He did?
-
Yes, and he also won the Drama Desk Award for it.
-
Off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
JohnG - wishing Joy a speedy recovery. I didn't know you could get bone spurs in the neck.
-
(Though I guess the time Joy can't rehearse dance is allowing your body some healing, if I'm understanding right)
-
I think spurs in the foot were the reason the Prez was not drafted - but it looks from what I'm reading that they're very painful but usually temporary.
I think I may have had them for a while, and the doctor thought it was just dress shoes for work hitting the concrete. This was in the 1980s, and footwear in the office seems to have gotten greatly relaxed in New York over the years.
-
From the notes, I wonder if "then I’ll go have a light breakfast consisting of a light breakfast" might have potential to catch on as a trademarked Bk expression.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I have no plans for the weekend, so I'm doing as little as possible.
-
HA!
DR ELMORE the play version of SEND ME NO FLOWERS which was on Broadway for a month in 1960/61 with David Wayne and Nancy Olson - all of the best lines and situations were used nearly verbatim in the film....the play has some fantasy scenes - I only remember one in the movie - and the resolution is the same. They just "opened it up" a bit.
We had a fine audience last night with big laughs all the way through. Again my second act scene got an even greater response.
-
We're having a good time in spite of everything which I sort of the idea of community theatre....don't sweat the small stuff.
Even though we don't have costumes from the Met....that was an entertaining story DR ELMORE.....
-
Several members of my family will be in the audience tonight so I should have an especially good time.....
-
CIRCUS WORLD.....those folks have a disaster every 10 minutes....and I can't understand a word Claudia Cardinale says....and the process work on the video tape version was bad....maybe it is improved on the disk MR BK has...anything would be an improvement.
I don't know if I want to see the movie badly enough to spend more money.
-
I do like 55 Days in Peking......but there is a lot of RED in it....color wise.....
-
TOD:
John Wayne
The Searchers
True Grit
Red River
Legend of the Lost
Charlton Heston
The Ten Commandments
Ben Hur
Planet of the Apes
Major Dundee
-
DR George I love the show Younger. Unfortunately they stopped airing it in Canada after I think season three. I hate when they do that. :(
-
My neighbor is varnishing their fence. :( :( :(
And they have been doing it for days.
-
Patrol is over. I need to make my bed, and then I will lie in front of the fan for the remainder of the day. Stella and I will play with Da Bird, and the three kittens and I will watch something on the DVD player.
-
Several members of my family will be in the audience tonight so I should have an especially good time.....
Have the best night so far.
-
My neighbor is varnishing their fence. :( :( :(
And they have been doing it for days.
Sorry.
-
I highly recommend SEND ME NO FLOWERS for community theatres who do such shows.....you get built in goodwill and awareness from the movie for audiences of a particular age....
And of course there are many actors on this here site - including MR BK - who could make a fine show of Mr. Akins......
This photo might not show up.....but it is from opening night.....I am at the left....director in the middle....and neighbor Arnold on the right....

At least my suit fits nice....HA!
DR FJL....to answer your question....I think it was intentional.
-
T.O.D.
John Wayne
RED RIVER
THE SEARCHERS
THE COWBOYS
THE SHOOTIST
Charlton Heston
WILL PENNY
Never much of a Heston fan, though I wrote a book about him. (It was a paid assignment.)

At least my suit fits nice....HA!
DR FJL....to answer your question....I think it was intentional.
The director agreed to pose for a photo with you?
-
Good morning, all.
-
A late one it is... and now I must leave!! :)
It's a two-show day, and too far away for me to bother coming home in between.
-
So, best Saturday vibes to all, and I will ketchup either very late tonight or tomorrow morning.
-
At least my suit fits nice....HA!
I can see why the audience appreciated it 😊
-

Have a good two days.
-
I'm up, I'm up - and have been up since six, so four hours of sleep. Don't know why I couldn't fall back asleep. Oh, well. She of the Evil Eye will be here in about forty minutes.
-
LOL DR ELMORE....the three of us were standing there and "Arnold's" wife asked for a photo.....
-
Good morning, all.
-
Got eight wonderful hours of sleep.
-
And I called Mom on her 92nd birthday. She'd already spoken with my sister in Germany and one of my nieces.
-
I think the other niece, whose birthday was yesterday, is probably a little worse for the wear this morning.
-
My niece Heike and my nephew Zachary had birthdays yesterday. Mom's is today. My great-niece Madeleine and my great-great-nephew Liam have birthdays tomorrow. Five in the family in three days.
-
(Though I guess the time Joy can't rehearse dance is allowing your body some healing, if I'm understanding right)
And our teacher canceled today, so, yes, I get some time off today. I don't know what to do with the spare time. I'm almost ready to take a nap.
-
I did get a load of laundry in. Much cleaning to be done.
-

You need to have one big party every year.
-
Back from a breakfast burrito and a drive.
-
Up from a nap.
-
It's too hot to do anything, but ...
-
Turn the page to three!
-
Got some samples of the fixes for the Adriana book, mostly to do with one character and that's much better now. Once she edits in all the fixes, then we'll discuss the one remaining character who needs some adjustments - we'll keep a lot of what she's done but fix about five sequences to establish the character strongly.
-
Got my Saturday swiffering of the whole house done early this morning, brother Kent and nephew Nick came to work on the heat pump. Nick - an electrician - found a melted wire and fixed that and added a new conductor and everything seems to be working fine.
-
A few weeks ago I used a quote from THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL on my FaceBook page as my quote of the day.....it was Mary complaining about the dildos not knowing their steps.
I commented that my favorite quote from Cindy Williams was too risque for FB. My friend Eleanor then wrote that her favorite quote was always a line from MISS DIANA CANOVA.....
"Ess jus' so BEEG!" Which is indeed quote worthy.....
-
Thatch and I napped together while Annabelle dozed in the cat tree and Stella stretched out in the latest Amazon carton. It's too warm to move.
-
I have done little but laze around today. Watched the extras of The River and now it's time to watch the movie itself.
-

Thank you brother Kent & nephew Nick.
-
Curious I am listening to a sample of the audio book GOOD OMENS. It is well done. Even so, I prefer to read.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I've done the laundry for today. It's one of those thankless tasks. As DR Jane has said, right here on HHW, "There is always laundry." And it couldn't be more true.
-
TCB, I'm sorry you're having pain in your neck. That's the big problem for me, too. I can do a lot for my low back--lumbar region, especially--by stretching, but the neck is tricky. Are you thinking about any alternatives to surgery?
Vibes you feel better soon!
-
Vibes that Jrand's heat pump/AC STAYS fixed!
-
Hi, Jeanne!
-
Such happiness!

-
Jrand, have you lost some weight? You look slimmer in the photo.
Congrats in any case.
-
Hi, John!
Hi, Larry!
-
The weather is getting warmer here. We had a long, cool spring and it's only now getting up to 80. I'm very grateful!
Stay cool to all of you in hot weather.
-
TTFN.
-
Dozed off for thirty minutes.

McNuggets and Coke break between shows.
The glamorous life.

Interesting story in the NYTimes about the OKLAHOMA! revival:
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/10/theater/oklahoma-musical-songs.html?action=click&module=Well&pgtype=Homepage§ion=Theater
I know many dislike revising wonderful shows, but when is a revision a good thing?
-

;D And I should be doing a load of laundry today.

Is it somewhat humid there?
-
It is 78 degrees here, cooler than it was. As a result it feels less humid.
-
I have turned back into a wuss regarding humidity. I tolerated much more before we moved West.
-
Several members of my family will be in the audience tonight so I should have an especially good time.....
Hope they enjoy it, Jrand!

Curious I am listening to a sample of the audio book GOOD OMENS. It is well done. Even so, I prefer to read.
Which audio version, Jane? The single narrator version (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0061735817/), or the full-cast dramatisation (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S999ED8/)?
-
I didn't know there was a full-cast option. I didn't get past the narration in the full-cast version & can't compare the full results. With just a short sampling I think I preferred the single narrator. He does change is voice a bit, at least the small portion I heard between the two main characters.
-
Interesting in the series I thought Frances McDormand was the narrator when she is listed in the cast as God. I found her narration great fun.
-
Well, I'm off. My friend Margo and I are going to see a Shakespeare play performed outside. I don't remember which play is playing this weekend. There are two different plays playing, and a third is going up next month. I just hope that we're not facing the sun. :-\
-
We're also going to Mercato's (http://www.mercatoristorante.com/) for dinner before the show, so it'll be an evening.
Until later!
-
Jrand, every time I think of those “Director Notes,” I get angry all over again. That guy is a real asshole, and I wish I could tell him so to his face!
-
I am not at the gala tonight. My neck is so bad tonight that I can’t turn me head to either side. Not a good idea to be driving the freeway, if you can’t look over your shoulder to change lanes or to enter the freeway.
-
So, I took some pain pills early, and I may watch MARY POPPINS STRIKES AGAIN, or whatever it is called.
-
I watched BRITANNIC on Netflix yesterday. I had never seen it before. It was rather silly (and strayed far from the truth), but was entertaining.
Has there ever been a ship disaster film that didn’t include, at least, one of the main characters trapped below deck?
-
Damn, there are a lot of horror films, available for streaming, that I have never heard of before. You would think I could have landed some kind of role in one of those films!
-
God! Mike Pence is such a disgusting semi-human being. He is (almost) worse than his boss.
-

I am so sorry. I know about necks that can't turn. I hope you can find something to help your neck without having surgery.
-
God! Mike Pence is such a disgusting semi-human being. He is (almost) worse than his boss.
I stand by my opinion that he is worse. He just looks good.
-
Finished watching 55 Days at Peking - save for some overwriting and preachy stuff in the script, it's really excellent.
-
Now I'm listening to music, then I may watch something later.
-
McNuggets and Coke break between shows.
The glamorous life.
Heigh ho!
-
God! Mike Pence is such a disgusting semi-human being. He is (almost) worse than his boss.

In a word: Yup.
-
Watching an old little film called The Story of a Cheat from Sasha Guitry. It's a rather dark comedy from 1936 that begins with a boy foraging mushrooms, which are served to the family. He's being punished, so he doesn't get any. Suddenly the other 11 members of his family are dead.
This ain't Dickens.
-
It was fairly warm in the dance hall tonight, but at 10 p.m. it was hotter outside. It's still above 90.
-
Listening to the symphonies of someone named Bohuslav Martinu (there's a circle over the last "u," but I can't get that). They were written before and after WWII. They're really wonderful. Six symphonies in all. This set, recorded 10 years ago on the 50th anniversary of his death, just came in to the library.
-
Hello, 1 guest!
-
Good night, all.
-
I like Martinu and share a birthday with him as I do with Jean Sibelius.

Did the kid do it ;)

John Wayne:
3 Godfathers
The Quiet Man
True Grit
The Shootist
-
Charlton Heston:
Ben-Hur
Soylent Green
-
Listening to music.
-
My favorite Wayne films are The High and the Mighty, The Searchers, True Grit, and Donovan's Reef.
My favorite Heston films are Ben-Hur, Touch of Evil, Planet of the Apes, 55 Days at Peking, Will Penny, and Soylent Green.
-
Perhaps I'll take a shower in about ten minutes. Perhaps I just will.
-
Page five? Really?
-
Jrand, wasn't there a change between the two versions that in one he actually hears that another person is dying and thinks it's himself who's dying where in the other it's an animal that's dying?
Or was I imagining that? It is the least funny screenplay of the three Doris Day-Rock Hudson-Tony Randall movies, though I recall liking it,
-
The lights have been restored in midtown Manhattan. Lots of Saturday night shows were cancelled because of the midtown blackout.
Cue another Doris Day movie title
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HltRFan0_Xc
"Where were you when the lights went out"
by the Lettermen
Was top 40 music changing so much by 1968 that Doris didn't sing the song?
-
God! Mike Pence is such a disgusting semi-human being. He is (almost) worse than his boss.
Pence is an enabler...and McConnell IS worse because he won't allow many bills to even come up for votes. :P
-
I've gotten rusty on my extend one post into five posts technique.

I can't create that diacritic on my tablet either, but I can copy and paste it: Bohuslav Martinů. :)
-
I've heard of him, but I've never heard his music.
-
I had meant to include Donavan's Reef.
-
Well, As You Like It was fun.
-
Was it great theater? No, but it was enjoyable and the weather was great. Several friends of mine were there, so I got to chat with them.
-
I read that the power has been restored in NY.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Notes are written, so time for a nice, hot shower.
-
Good evening.

Someone suggested I try hanging.

However, there is a CBD cream that I am going to buy tomorrow. It has been highly recommended.

Jack, I would have flat-out refused to pose for a photo with that jerk. And I would not have been diplomatic about the reason.
-
Hi, George.
-
Well, As You Like It was fun.
I did AS YOU LIKE IT at the Seattle Center for a summer.

T.O.D.
Charlton Heston:
BEN-HUR
PLANET OF THE APES
John Wayne:

Yes to Hatari.

Hello from Tweedbank! It’s a little town about an hour from Edinburgh. I see it’s almost time to close out today’s discussion board, so I’ll continue later.
-
Hi, George.
Hi, Tom.

However, there is a CBD cream that I am going to buy tomorrow. It has been highly recommended.
I'd recently read that some major chain (I forget which) is going to start selling CBD products.

I'd certainly try one.

I wonder how they are.
