Well, you've read the notes, the notes had too many flies, and now it is time for you to post until the too many cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ELYSIUM!
-
And a happy haineshisway.com birthday to Swishy Sarah who used to hang out with us. Hope she's well.
-
First post after BK!
-
Happy Birthday to former DR Swishy Sarah.
-
Perhaps I should have ice cream for breakfast!
-
First post after TCB!

Long rehearsal, George?
-
Continuing from last night: some projections (images and videos) had been added to the sound board plot, but more will be added before tonight's opening. We'll run things before the show to make sure that it all works...as one should. ;)
-
Long rehearsal, George?
Not really. I got there at about 6:30, and we finished the run a little after 9:30. We had a few technical notes and I adjusted a few things on the computer, and left by 10:00 or so. I went to Fred Meyer for some impromptu shopping, and got home at about 10:30. I had dinner and watched an episode of "Suits" while I did some stuff on my new computer.
-
Well, I must be off. Good night, Tom.
-
And have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Hope you feel better today, Tom.
-
I fell asleep quickly last night but now I am wide awake.
-
DR TCB, I hope you feel better today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FORMER DR SWISHER SARAH 🎁🎈🎉🎶
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept really well, but I remember no dreams at all. I blame Jo's fantastic cooking.
-
I will shortly leave for Oxford. Before I go I need to examine the online finding aid for the Tams-Witmark Collection at the University of Wisconsin.
-
I think my dreams of spending Friday and Saturday by the pool are hopeless. Lotta predicted rain. I hope the Sunday concert doesn't fall apart.
-
DR TCB, I'm sorry you're feeling poorly.
-
Good morning to all

TOD
Although I haven't read it in years, the making of/behind the scenes of the Broadway Revival of No No Nanette was a very interesting read. The is a similar story for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, but it had some IMHO some crude and homophobic stories. The book was written by Larry King (not the tv/radio host) but it did show the process of creating a show and the songs written and cut before opening on Broadway.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Our director has to be away, but this afternoon I have a first entire run-through attempt with cast and pianos. It'll be rife with difficulties, but no matter, it'll be good for all of us. After this the entire holiday weekend is free, nothing till next Tuesday.
-
DR Elmore's work there in beautiful SW Ohio sounds really interesting. May it all continue to go well!
-
Feel better vibes for TCB.
-
A couple of days ago, right out of the blue, YouTube presented me with a "recommended for you" -- audio excerpts from the tour of I Do! I Do! with Mary Martin and Robert Preston. I hadn't known about this recording and it hadn't come up in my searches. (I keep learning that you simply can't search too many ways to find stuff.) Man, they are on fire...as is the orchestra and a very lucky audience. Wish to hell it was the whole thing.

Thursday morning greetings! Quiet day here. This evening is the red-carpet premiere of the Miami University-Middletown 50th anniversary video. Remember when I participated in the recording sessions almost a year ago? We'll see how much of me ended up on the cutting room floor...
I hope not too much.

Hope everyone is well. School has started for me, so I'm MTTHF at school Wednesday is my "day-off" as I don't really have a day off other than that.
Rehearsals began for Les Miserables - The School Edition on Monday and things are going very well. I'm finding they lyrics are sloppy when sung with and AmURican accent, so we'll be working on our classical singing in the next few weeks.
Tonight starts weekend 2/3 of The Hunchback of Notre Dame performances. The orchestra is good, the cast sounds good, my MainStage programming is working well. The book of this show really stinks. That's all I'll say about that.
And that, DR's, is what's happening in the SF Bay Area this weekend.
-
A community theater group is doing Hunchback in a few weeks. I may try to catch it.
-
My sister in Germany is on WhatsApp. She doesn't do Facebook or email, so it's been strange sending her pix and exchanging messages this morning. Spellcheck wants to change all of my German into English.

Actually, DR Jane, I suspect it will be quite a bit. I was "up front" for the sessions about the library and the performing arts space and my guess is that teaching faculty and students will predominate in the final cut.

I wish the 1999 German production was produced in the United States. It was extravagant like the musicals of its time. Rumor was that they didn't want to pay James Lapine to direct it in the states. There are some videos on youtube and an amazing cast recording (in German). The recent version that began in La Jolla and is the version that is licensed, seems to me to be a watered down version of what it could have been. It was probably created to shut people up so now there is a license-able version of the show. Same happened with Newsies although that had a more commercial run - and it wasn't meant to have one.

I have friends who use WhatsApp for communicating with family. That is funny about the German.

Just had a nice phone conversation with DR Elmore, who's in Oxford today. He's taking a break between a fruitful morning with his curator at the library and an afternoon with students in the theatre department.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.
-
DR Ginny, thanks for the update on DR elmore 😊
-
Bruce how you can sleep for 9 hours amazes and annoys me ;)
-
As we drove up to the airpor we watched the airplane arrive. We are picking up Keith's cousin and heading to the coast.

I don't understand German (or Latin, for that matter), but I really enjoy the German cast recording much more than the recent English language recording. It's good and I like it, but I LOVE the original recording. :)

Quite a few years ago here at work, I had somehow changed my Word default dictionary to French so that practically EVERYTHING was misspelled! I don't know how in the world I did it, but I had to get the computer folks here to fix it. Fortunately, it was simple (for them), but it took me a while to get up the nerve to let them know that I did it. It was a little embarrassing. ::)

Screen Time Vibes for DR GINNY
-
I can occasionally sleep that long because on previous evenings I've slept only four or five.
-
Back from on omelet and a bagel and picking up an envelope but no packages.
-
Listening to what will probably be the next Kritzerland release - our first classical release - my favorite symphony in an incredible performance by one of the most famous conductors who ever lived - a historic performance for many reasons - and cleaned up beyond belief. We've been working on this for four or five MONTHS now and it's rather amazing, IMO. I have several options if I want to put anything else with it.
-
Exciting news about the next release.......I love it.
When it comes to culture - I'm the first hog to the trough.
-
Good afternoon.
-
Good
afternoon evening.
I'll have you all know that Gmail, this afternoon, delivered five (5) pieces of legitimate (non-important but legitimate) email to me. They're all dated between April 13th and 16th, 2017. They're from five regular sources, but all just general stuff, none of which I'd have any freakin' idea if I'd ever seen it before.
-
That's the speed of the Internet for you, ChasSmith.

Good evening!

Oh, my goodness! :o

I got back from Oxford about an hour ago and i am really tired.
-
I hate flies.
-
Time to head to the theater and opening night of Silent Sky!
Be back later!
-
Page THREE? Really?
-
Stop messing with my mind.
-
Had a very good second rehearsal.
-
It was about 104 today and humid like New York, New York. Then it rained with lightning, then we lost power (like a brownout, really), just for a second but long enough to shut the computer down, which is always a total pain in the butt cheeks.
-
I don't think I'll ever learn. I'm starting to watch the new version of Witless for the Prosecution that so many of you warned me about. Can't resist that Agatha Christie name. Wonder if I'll watch all of it.
-
People in town are crazy. Word got out that somehow Dallas was out of gasoline, so people here started swamping the gas stations. There was no shortage of gas, but everyone made it seem as if there were.
-
So, of course, some stations did run out of gasoline and the lines got longer everywhere else. There were still people waiting in line when I drove by several a few minutes ago.
-
And of course, the gas prices jumped 25 cents a gallon.
-
Too many of courses, of course.
-
Four!
-
Page four? Really?
-
Hello, everyone.
-
No rain here, but lots of heat. My little window AC is cranking away. It's doing its best.
-
Feel-better vibes to all who are ailing, DRs and friends alike.

I've been watching the British series JERICHO (AKA JERICHO OF SCOTLAND YARD). It's quite good; I wish there were more seasons. Wonderful performance by Robert Lindsay.

Gmail has been having some server problems lately, but this is the first I've heard of delivering old mail.
-
That's it from this wilted DR.
Good night.
-
I recently read the play version of WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION....very good....although I think the changes/improvements made in the Billy Wilder version made it even better!

Lindsay is great. Will have to check that out.
-
Good night, all.
-
Well, act one is over and it went flawlessly! Whew! All the new projections worked!
-
HOPEFULLY, act two will be flawless, too. Because of the number of cues and the limited numbers of cues that the sound program allows (80), I had to create an act one plot and a separate act two plot. That's a bit of a pain, but it works.
-
I'm sure that we have an audience of close to 30, I think. They seem to be enjoying it, so that's good.
-
And now on to act two!
-
Sorry to have been E&T busy at work
-
And trying yo get things. Together for our trip to Florida
-
Gas prices here jumped 30 cents. Gallon this. Week

Page five? Really?

Working on the commentary - no matter how many selections I do there always seems to be seven more - I'm really over this.
-
I can occasionally sleep that long because on previous evenings I've slept only four or five.
I sleep 4 or 5 hours only to sleep less the following night ;D

Well, opening night was a success! No goobers, tech or otherwise, so hopefully that'll continue for the rest of the run!
-
We had a lovely day in Cannon Beach 😊
-
And now, I'm heading home.
Until later.
-
We are enjoying a break from the heat and the lousy air quality due to the smoke.
-
Well, I finished the commentary, just sort of getting something on paper. As soon as I decide on the show order tomorrow, then I futz and finesse this and lock it.
-
I made about four ounces of pasta with a little butter and cheese for my evening snack.
-
I'm still listening to Miaskovsky. This guy was PROLIFIC!
-
I'm home and have had dinner.

Hope you feel better today, Tom.

Today I watched the first five episodes of Netflix new version of THE TICK. I CAN't compare it to the previous version with Patrick Warburton, because I never watched that one. However, Mr. Warburton is one of the producers of this series.
-
I must admit , I rather enjoyed the episodes I watched, and I look forward to watching more episodes. Is it great TV? No.

I haven't seen either version either, but I've seen a commercial for the new version and enjoyed that.

Several months ago, I bought a 12-pack of chocolate covered doughnuts from Costco. I knew that I couldn't eat them all at once, so I cut them into quarters and froze them. I've been having a piece every few days...including this morning. ;)
