Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a trip, you know about the trip, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're tripping, man, and have no idea where home is.

Last night I saw the most interesting short films at the Egyptian!

Im so happy that both film and vinal are coning back, but its very interesting...I wonder what else will move backward, socially, politically,  technologicaly...sounds fun!

Have fun in NY Bruce!!!!! I think you should go see a show! If I was going to NY I would see as many shows as I could.

Today's TOD:
Favorite Jerry Lewis movie: The Delicate Delinquent (for the Theremin scene alone!)
Favorite Dean Martin movie: Robin and the 7 Hoods (just to see all those guys together)
Favorite Martin & Lewis movie: The Stooge (the first M&L movie I saw, and thought they were hilarious, so it's always been close to my heart)

I've always wanted to see that infamous Jerry Lewis movie, "The Day The Clown Cried", just to see if it's as bad as I've always heard. (As you already know, I'm not afraid of bad movies!)

Did you say that you saw Alton Brown the other day? I'm really pleased to hear that he has recovered--I never, ever miss an episode of Good Eats. That man is a genius!

Hi, DR Iris

Yes, Alton lives across the square from me here in Marietta, GA. I used to work on his show years ago, when my gardening show was on hiatus. He is indeed a scary genius. He once told me that if you ate salmon, oatmeal and some leafy green vegetable (although not spinach at the moment!) every day, he was convinced you would live forever. I started eating more of all those things after that, although I'd rather hang with DR George and his funnel cakes, chocolate and cheesecake!

you know about the trip

Hi, BK---

When I work/play in NY, I usually stay at the Edison. (Nice old Art Deco hotel in Times Square, and cheap!) I had always heard tell there is a recording studio on the 2nd floor---in fact, I've tried to sneak upstairs a few times to see it but never got past the velvet rope without being busted. I am intrigued by the fact that it's there.

My husband and I watched the DVD doc of the recording of "The Producers" broadway cast album  and it was shot in this studio, so we were thrilled to actually see it, and know that it was real. It looked so tiny, though.

Have you ever recorded there?

I would love to work on Alton's show--it must be a blast! Guess I should stock up on salmon, oatmeal and greens, 'cause he knows his stuff. He wrote a very interesting article about the spinach disaster on his website the other day--fascinating.
I've seen his daughter's picture--she looks EXACTLY like him!
Think I'll try to get tickets for a few tapings of various shows at the Food Network if possible.

Thanks to George for supplying the visual. Looks like we were robbed here in Atlanta!

Good morning, all!  I've had 6 hours sleep and I feel like a mess at the moment.  The party for the show was at the apartment of one of the producers, and there was a huge crowd of cast, crew, and friends.  One of the running jokes in the show concerns Belgian endive, so one of the salads was a wonderful endive salad.  There was aso a wonderful rice dish with sun-dried tomato, olives and chicken.  I stayed for a couple of hours and then headed for home.

The show was sold out and there was a long waiting list.  A young man who was waiting in the lobby heard my name when I was picking up my tickets at the box office and introduced himself: Steven Jones who is director of the Lyric Stage in Irving, Texas and a good friend of my friends Tom Jones, Harvey Schmidt, and Ron Raines.  Steve is one of the producers of this latest production of NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, which opens at the Festival on Tuesday.  I asked the producers of the SINGING NUN to see that he got a ticket, and he seemed to be enjoying himself at intermission.  I looked for him after the show but I couldn't find him to drag him to the party.  Here's his company's website:

Another favorite Dean Martin movie is BELLS ARE RINGING (well, it's really a Judy Holliday movie). Dean is perfectly cast in the film, but as I've mentioned in the past, he looks like he's barely trying during "I Met a Girl." He doesn't know the lyrics to the song and in some points doesn't even bother opening his mouth as the playback is going with his voice ringing out.

Good Grief - Chicken Little returns!

This is almiost as alarmist as the DDT crock promulgated by Carson's. "The Silent Spring".

Alton says:

Quote
Our own unnatural desires and our refusal to consume locally grown foods have brought us to this sorry state.

It is not "unnatural" to desire year-round accessability to fresh greens at the local market.

I'd love to buy locally grown fresh spinach - it just isn't harvested in Delaware in September!

Eating bagged spinach is still saver than playing 18 holes of golf (lightening strikes, you know).

My morning in telephone reference has been most interesting and has required some degree of cultural literacy.  Earlier, our crossword puzzle lady (she calls for help every day) needed to know the composer of The Consul.  Just now, a mom called to find out who wrote the song, "Little Boxes," which is being used as the theme song from some new TV show and her kids think it's a new song.  Actually, it was written in 1962 by Malvina Reynolds.

Hiya!

I spent a very informative, live-changing two-and-a-half hours at CSU LA yesterday. Bought the $75 parking permit...

Okay, so it seems I'm too late to apply for the Fall 06 quarter, but the head old dude (George) at the Student Services center can get me in. He went over my trnascripts and said I have WAY more than I need of Music courses, and my Italian and Russian language classes and the LACC Intro to Theater satisfy the Humanities requirement... BUT!! I have NO General Ed courses AT ALL. I'll probably need six or seven quarters of classes to get the BA in Music.

I went to meet the chair of the Music Dept, thence to the registrar's office, where I applied for the WINTER 07 quarter (George will transfer that to the Fall quarter on Tuesday) - and i start classes day after tomorrow! Gotta take 2 Communications classes, test OUT of English and have English Comp waived (George will set up a meeting with the chair of the English dept, and I can turn in my novel, for consideration...); Gotta take Biology and History and Poly Sci and Anthro and and and... but I'm SO looking forward to it! and I'm a "resident" so 18 credits costs under $1100 a quarter. (way cheaper, apparently, if I were over 60... shhhhhh! nobody's 'sposta know that...)

<SNAP!> just like that! my life changes...

We looked at the Edison once as a recording possibility, but my engineer and I hated the room - not at all what we like.

The hotel situation in NY is outrageous right now, and I'm not sure why.  When looking for a hotel this week everything was over twice what I'm normally used to paying - the Mayfair was the only reasonable hotel and I don't know that I'd call certain nights of the stay reasonable.

Another favorite cheap place to stay in NY but not as convenient: The Leo House, in Chelsea. It's a Catholic guest house, but anyone can stay there. The only drawback is that my husband and I slept in twin beds with a big crucifix on the wall between us, but it's charming and friendly nuns cook a big, yummy and cheap breakfast in the AM. There's a lovely courtyard garden, too. It's an old place; still has those telephone closets. It's usually booked up pretty far in advance, but, like the Edison, a good one to put on your radar!

We looked at the Edison once as a recording possibility, but my engineer and I hated the room - not at all what we like.

It looked unrealistically tiny, so I was surprised that they would record a big cast album there. it looked very cramped on the video, even with a wide angle lens!

I guess I am intrigued that it is there but you would never know it, unless you...well, knew it.

Last time I asked about it the doorman told me that it was owned by Lenny Kravitz and that he would often see Lenny and Nicole Kidman (back when they were together) coming in the back door and climbing the stairs to the studio.

Good morning (or whatever time of day it is your corner of the world). It's lovely outside - a touch of fall in the air. It's nice to get a hint of the season in LA. I miss that gorgeous fall look from my days in Toronto and Boulder. But I must say, it's great never - or hardly ever - to be cold.
That's it for the weather report.

Food report - My Rosh Hashanah meal last night consisted of pretzels, Granny Smith apple rings from Trader Joe's and red licorice. Not the usual meal for the occasion - but quite yummy.
Okay - must clean off my desk and floor around the desk (aka the filing cabinet) so that the cleaning lady -- the same one that bk maintains has an Evil Eye -- but I'm here to tell you that she's very nice and has never looked at me with even a hint of evil -- comes over after she finishes at his place.

RE: The Edison Hotel - I like the Edison too.  It was the first place I stayed on my first "real trip" to NYC - one of those "Backstage on Broadway" high school trips.  It's a very classic NYC hotel, and the management have continued to upgrade and upkeep the rooms over the years.  -I still remember sleeping on a mattress that had a piece of wood paneling as a bed board on that first trip - not so any more.  However, my favorite value in midtown is still The Skyline over at 50th and 10th, although, they're no longer quite the secret nor the value they used to be.  -However, rooms there in January are still shockingly "cheap".

Thanks, DR Cillaliz! The water's fine, so I do indeed intend to stick around for a while. I am loving these insights to musical theatre that I can get with very few others here in Atlanta. Good luck with your auditions...you seem to be quite multi-talented! Are there any roles for singing female lawyers, like in Chicago or something? Then you could meld some of your facets!!

Thanks for the tip on The Skyline! Good to know as a backup!

The Edison is just a block or two away from where I work when I'm there for longer periods. We do a lot of our mixing at Sound One,which is in the historic Brill Building. The doormen there are pretty vigilant, but it's worth going in to admire the art deco brass elevator doors. Gorgeous!

I saw Cabaret in NY a few years back, with Marion Ross & Tom Bosley and Neil Patrick Harris as the master of ceremonies. I didn't know he had such talent for musical theatre. He was just great! I wasn't impressed with Debbie Gibson as Sally Bowles...I guess I have trouble seeing anyone but Liza Minelli in that role!

I cried at the end, too, but didn't require medical attention...

Must be lots of ghosts in the Brill Building!

That is REALLY WEIRD that you say that, because the last time I worked there, the director SWORE she saw a ghost...a tall, thin, African America man.

I decided that it was one of the Drifters, because I'd been told that the song "Up of the Roof" was written @ the Brill Building. (They have a wonderful rooftop terrace where we go to chill out and get some light.)

Seriously---check out the elevator doors!

Good afternoon!

The opening of the show went fine, so...

The stage manager left a little note on the callboard about our patron from last night.  Her name is Elizabeth, and she did indeed grow up during Hitler's reign of terror.  Last night was the first time in a long time where all the horrible memories of watching her friends and family being taken away by the Gestapo came back to her in full force.  Watching the events unfold during the course of the play truly was like watching and going through it all over again. Thankfully, she is OK.

DR edisaurus- Yes, be sure to check out the Skyline if you ever get a chance.  It may be a little far from Times Square for some people, but the trade off is is that is very quiet on that side of town.  There are two wings - one old, one recently remodeled.  I like the newer wing, but sometimes some of the rooms in the old wing can be had for a low as $78 a night. However, the rooms in the newer wing are very nice, and LARGE.  When I've gone up with friends and gotten a room with two queen size beds in it, there's always still been plenty of space left in the room to relax and put or stuff.   *And parking is still a very reasonable $8.00 a night if you're a guest - and sometimes if you're not a guest and the parking attendant remembers you.  :)

On the 11th floor of the "west wing" there is a heated indoor pool.  It's all surrounded by windows, and it provides a gorgeous view of the Empire State Building.

Food report - My Rosh Hashanah meal last night consisted of pretzels, Granny Smith apple rings from Trader Joe's and red licorice. Not the usual meal for the occasion - but quite yummy.

Clearly the meal of an Anna Rexic.  My God!  And I guarantee that was, most likely, the ONLY meal - maybe there was a bowl of oatmeal in the morning.  I am dieting and careful about what I eat, but I EAT at least one EXCELLENT MEAL a day.  Pretzels, apple rings, and red licorice - brilliant, and classic for a ninety-five pound person.  End of personal opinion.

BELLS ARE RINGING is my favorite Dean Martin film, too!  I cannot believe that I could not think of it this morning.

I watched SCARED STIFF recently after watching GHOST BUSTERS for the first time.  It's still funny.

I'm back from a lovely day with DRs vixmom, WF Orr, Rodzinski, Tomovoz, Colin, and the vixter.  We got5 to Rosie O'Grady's on 46th Street, had a pleasant lunch and chatted there for about 3 hours.  The staff was great and quite patient with us.  I had never been there before and enjoyed the lunch a lot.  I'd recommend it as another possible dining spot for any HHWers coming into the City.

I'm going to have a bit of a nap and then do some brain surgery.

DR TCB wrote last night:

DAMN IT TO HECK!

I cried my eyes out at the season finale of GHOST WHISPERER last Spring; I didn't realize I was going to cry all over again as the new season got under way.  As much as I hate the fact that Andrea is dead, I think the addition of Jay Mohr in the recurring role of the college professor will help the show.  And it could have been worse, they could have killed off Melinda's husband which would have been a real tragedy
.

Last season's season finale was one of the best ever. I was also going crazy watching it.

I didn't realize Andrea would be in so much of the show. And when i saw her name listed in the credits i thought she might stick around.

I wish they had done it. That whole "she was in a coma" dream could have been real.

Very dark scary show now. That guy is so creepy.

Speaking of cursed productions, years ago, I was in a production of RING AROUND THE MOON, that was so horrible; that to this day the cast and crew refer to it as RING AROUND THE TOILET.  We had a superb cast, but it seemed that the whole show was crused from Day One.  Naturally, the audiences still tell us that it was one of the best shows we have ever done.

George, I just have a small Sony digital that fits in my pocket. I just get lucky. The dragonflies and damselflies are so small that most of the time my camera doesn't even focus on them.

I was about 15 feet away from the rattlesnake.  A foot or so from the butterflies.

The following are all replies that Dallas TX women have written
on Child Support Agency forms in the section for listing "father's
details". Or putting it another way... Who's yo' Daddy? These are
genuine excerpts from the forms (truth be told??). Number 11 takes 1st
prize and #3 is runner up. Number 5 gives new meaning to people from
Virginia

1. Regarding the identity of the father of my twins, child A was
fathered by Jim Munson. I am unsure as to the identity of the father of
child B, but I believe that he was conceived on the same night.

2. I am unsure, as to the identity of the father of my child as
I was being sick out of a window when taken unexpectedly from behind. I
can provide you with a list of names of men that I think were at the
party if this helps.

3. I do not know the name of the father of my little girl. She
was conceived at a party at 3600 Grand Avenue where I had unprotected
sex with a man I met that night. I do remember that the sex was so good
that I fainted. If you do manage to track down the father, can you send
me his phone number? Thanks.

4. I don't know the identity of the father of my daughter. He
drives a BMW that now has a hole made by my stiletto in one of the door
panels. Perhaps you can contact BMW service stations in this area and
see if he's had it replaced.

5. I have never had sex with a man. I am still a Virginian. I am
awaiting a letter from the Pope confirming that my son's conception was
ejaculate and that he is the Saver risen again.

6 I cannot tell you the name of child A's dad as he informs me
that to do so would blow his cover and that would have cataclysmic
implications for the economy. I am torn between doing right by you and
right by the country. Please advise.

7. I do not know who the father of my child was as all blacks
look the same to me.

8. Peter Smith Is the father of child A. If you do catch up with
him, can you ask him what he did with my AC/DC CDs? Child B who was also
borned at the same time ... well, I don't have clue.

9. From the dates it seems that my daughter was conceived at
Disney World; maybe it really is the Magic Kingdom.

10. So much about that night is a blur. The only thing that I
remember for sure is Delia Smith did a program about eggs earlier in the
evening. If I had stayed in and watched more TV rather than going to the
party at 146 Miller Drive, mine might have remained unfertilized.

11. I am unsure as to the identity of the father of my baby,
after all, like when you eat a can of beans you can't be sure which one
made you fart.

Good Evening!

Greetings from New York City!

The train ride back up was pleasant and semi-uneventful.  There was one lady who made it known from the moment she stepped into the Quiet Car that it would truly be "THE QUIET CAR".  -Oops... Someone forgot to turn off their cell-phone.... Guess who started running up the aisle to chide them.  -Oh, someone laughed a little too loud at a joke one of their companions told them...  There she was again getting up and going to their seat and "reasoning" with them.  Of course, the best part was when she stopped the conductor and asked why he was not enforcing the rules.  He kindly informed here that he cannot be in the The Quiet Car all the time, but that he does make his regular rounds up and down the WHOLE train every 10-15 minutes.  If he happened to not be in the car when someone "dared" to break the code of silence, well, that was just luck of the draw so to speak.  "But that doesn't make sense.  Can't you make sure that when you punch each passengers ticket that you remind them of the rules?"  -Well, since the Quiet Car announcement is made at each stop via a very loud loudspeaker system... "But I'm not trying to tell you how to do your job, I'm just simply asking that you..."

Alas, the woman ended up causing more noise and commotion than anyone else in the quiet car.  *And she sort of got her comeuppance as the train pulled into Penn Station and the lights came back up to full - all the people that she had berated started to look back at her and gave her dirty looks.

;)

BK:

No.

No liquids, and they mean it.  Joe recently took a plane, and I printed out twenty pages of airline regulations about baggage beforehand.  Liquids must all be in checked baggage.

Of course, some of the regulations--including this one--are patently absurd.  Supposedly you are not allowed to lock your checked luggage!  Well, no one ever tells you that, so nobody knows, and we went ahead and locked.  Our neighbor who flies abroad a couple of times a year said she had never heard of this.

Of course, the liquid thing is just plain silly too.  Supposedly the "plot" by the terrorists (who didn't even have passports) involved mixing three common household liquids in flight to produce a crystaline explosive.  I read an article by a chemist explaining that one of the three liquids was extremely difficult to obtain in the correct strength, the liquids must be kept near freezing, the mixing process would only work if the quantities were precise and one of the liquids had to be slowly titrated--the process of crystalization would take four to five hours.  Meanwhile, someone just might wonder why they were in the rest room that long and kept asking for more ice buckets!

But at least having colognes and lipsticks confiscated will make travelers think something is being done to make them safe.  And just maybe it will scare them into voting Republican in the mid-term elections.

Not to insult the Republicans on this site.  But they are real Republicans, not members of the cabal that has taken over their party.

Sorry about the rant.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled chat.

Newark into the city really isn't bad at all.  And if you just wanted to take the busses that run every 10-15 minutes from Newark to Port Authority...  Alas, I miss the water shuttle that used to run from Newark to Battery Park.  That was always a great - and scenic and fast - way to get into Manhattan.

DH Richard and I just returned from a festive dinner at El Rancho Grande, a new Mexican restaurant here in town.  I had one margarita, which has almost flattened me - good thing I didn't finish it!

The discussion about what you are and are not allowed to carry on a plane reminded me of the day I left NYC last October.  Remember, DRs Cillaliz, Danise, Jane, and I had been to Saks Fifth Avenue to have our makeup done and we had all spent obscene amounts of money on Bobbi Brown cosmetics.  We went to lunch, I put my Saks bag in my carry on, they threw me in a taxi, and I was off to LaGuardia.  If that happened now, I'd have to discard all those expensive products at the airport.

A delightful day in the city with delightful company.  Colin is a truly charming and witty man.  Tomovoz is exactly the Tomovoz I have known for years through this site--only shorter.

They came bearing gifts for all and sun-dried--Tom even brought something for my Joe (who was not there for reasons I will explain later)--precisely what he knew Joe would like.  I was quite touched.

Larry brought some souvenirs from The Tragic and Horrible Life of the Singing Nun.  vixmom had a gift for the Ozians.  I felt a bit bad that I arrived empty-handed.   :(

We chatted and ate and chatted and chatted some more.  And then we chatted.  Life is good!

There were three Twilight Zone moments in my day:  first with vixmom trying to make a left turn in a city marked No Left Turn at every opportunity--which took us from the West Side to the East Side and back again.  Second, waiting in the lobby of Fred's building while he was out on the sidewalk waiting for me.  And third, trying to find the two vixens (oh! I bad!) in the humongous Toys R Us® designed (presumably) by Franz Kafka, while I swear I could hear Rod Serling intoning, above the squealing children, "We present for your consideration William F. Orr..."

I'm so sad I will likely not join in any of next weekend's festivities for reasons I will explain anon.

Nice that you're so concerned about my health, Bruce, but if I were really Ms. Anna Rexic, I  wouldn't talk about not eating properly (see Nicole Ritchie). The reason I mentioned this particular "meal' was that I thought it was a funny feast for the holidays.
As for my actual weight - you're a tad off. Ironically, I had a doctor's appointment today at my beloved Toluca Lake Motion Picture and Television Health Center - where the walls are decorated with huge black & white portraits of REAL movie stars like Cary Grant and Judy Garland (and where the room in which blood is taken features a portrait of Bela Lugosi)... Anyway, as it happens I was weighed this very afternoon, the way they always do when one goes to the doc - albeit with clothes on and in the middle of the day - but I doubt that my clothes weigh 10 pounds!
So 95 pounds I am not! (Although - even if I were - at my height that still wouldn't be anywhere near anorexic. )
But, as I said, thanks for the concern.

Apparently, according to Continental's list, you can bring lipstick and chapstick.  I do agree that this crap has gone too far.  Why don't they just ban EVERYTHING - luggage, computers, cells, underwear - I mean, really, where does it end - especially when they're told by experts that the plan could not have happened the way Homeland Security thinks.

JOE TAKES A TRIP

The reason that Joe did not join us is that he has taken a little vacation.  He just needed to get away from assorted problems here--not from me, I assure you!--and we both thought a change of environment might help, since he is so often alone at home due to his illness.

He had some trepidation about traveling alone, not having done that since he became handicapped some seventeen years ago.  But I arranged for wheelchairs at the airports and booked him for two weeks at a small gay and lesbian resort on St. Croix.

Well, aside from some problems with the heat, he is having a wonderful time.  The first day he met a very nice gay couple from Ohio, and they became fast friends, eating together every day and seeing a bit of the island.

They returned to Ohio last week and they and I have exchanged some e-mails since.  They are originally from Seattle, and one of them used to bartend at the Jade Pagoda there--ring a bell to any of our Pacific Northwest contingent?

The last few days Joe his been palling around with a lady who works at the resort (it being off-season, there are very few guests), and she had been showing him the sites most tourists don't see, winding roads through the jungle, a mountain top from which you can see Puerto Rico.  We are already planning to book a trip there for both of us in January.

There is a webcam at the Sand Castle where he is staying and here is the link. (http://www.gotostcroix.com/live/image.jpg)  If you click it right now, it will be black (it's nighttime, folks), but try it tomorrow and you will see the beach and perhaps Joe taking a morning dip.  I will attach below a sunset I downloaded last week.

Joe is coming back on Wednesday, and I think we will both need to spend the weekend hugging and making up for lost time.  Two weeks of the bachelor life has been fun, but I miss him and he misses me.

He will be so happy to learn that Tomovoz thought of him when he was packing to come here.

All I know is that you take any chance to turn Anna's emails into RIDICULE and her along the way!
She's the only one to be treated that way on this site and that quite upsets dear little me!
She's already been offended here and your attitude seems to clearly indicate where you stand; Anna is a jerk and should be treated as such...
But things are more VICIOUS because you always (not this time!) claim that you are joking, which means that Anna, and some of us along the way, have NO SENS of humour, which goes with being a jerk too!

Being a guest here I don't want to witness your trashing Anna, even if she's a big girl who can speak for herself!
BK, you're like a kid who doesn't know when to stop, and because I care for Anna and I care for you I thought i would not be PC and tell you what I think! If I didn't care I would have left the site a long time ago!

And...  I said I would keep my mouth shut! Sorry!

Well, you would be surprised how many people find her Southern accent irk-worthy. The thing is, I know people here in the South that sounds just like her.

Closer fans will be glad to know that we have two more episodes coming up in a few months that will run back to back. A television event! Kevin Bacon is directing one of them so that should be interesting. We'll have a marathon leading up to that, if you missed any episodes this season!

Glad to hear that some of the folks here like the show. I bought a high def TV, too and the show looks great on hi def.

TNT is launching a new series next year with Holly Hunter. I bet she could have played a good Brenda, too, plus she's from here so her Southern accent is real! Now watch---*her* character won't even have a Southern accent!

Francois, dearest, I would say you need to lighten up.  I know you don't want to, but you should.  The one thing anyone who frequents this site should know is that we don't care about PC - we are bored with PC, and if Anna Rexic as a comment disturbs you, I don't know what to tell you.  I do understand it's a serious disease.  I guess The Producers disturbs you, too, since Nazism is a serious disease which is made fun of throughout both film and play.

No baking here!  The old stove, which was old when I bought my house 27 years ago, has given up the ghost. It's now at the street, waiting for those type of people who make large appliances disappear in the dead of night.

It made me kind of sad to see it sitting there on the curb, and to think of the meals it had produced for gatherings of friends. I sang "Goodbye, Old Girl" to wish it farewell. It is now probably glad to be leaving.

Edisaurus, did you get to meet any of the Music Man folks, or were you just handed all the footage?

Just handed the footage, the curse of being an editor. My husband gets to meet all the people, since he's a location sound mixer. But he also gets to go on death marches through 110 degree heat in Panama and wade thru water with his recording gear floating in a styrofoam cooler and gators brushing against his legs, while I stay in a dark, air-conditioned room, honing my craft. Like a sniper. And I get to talk to people about singing to my stove who possibly might not think I'm insane.

I did hear some interesting stories that *didn't* make it into the doc---some that shouldn't be repeated. Yee Gods!

I think Kyra does a wonderful SOuthern accent, but as someone born and raised in the SOuth, I do hear it slip from time to time. It's usually just a word here and there like a "can't" will slip in instead of "cain't," but I probably didn't notice it the first time around myself. It takes watching the shows over and over to catch the tiny little slips that happen and even then they only occur once in a blue moon.

The show is really so FUNNY, apart from some terrific drama and some clever mysteries. The characters surrounding Brenda are SO interesting and fun.

I finished the first disc of GREY'S ANATOMY shows (5 episodes). Of those five, three were totally new to me, and terrific entertainment they were, too.

I do wonder why they've desaturated the color a bit out of the shows. Just slightly, but the credits are in full, richly saturated color and then the episodes are toned down a bit and are on the cool (blue) side of coloring.

Watching it each week in high definition, I hadn't noticed any desaturation, but it seems very noticeable to me with the DVDs.

The characters surrounding Brenda are SO interesting and fun.

I love them, too! Provenza (G.W. Bailey, or as my young producers refer to him as, "The OLD guy") was in the first movie I ever worked on, "Summer of my German Soldier", back in 1978. It was one of his first films, too. Making us *both* old!

BK, I do get to meet actors when I'm cutting features. I will see them at dailies, parties, looping sessions, etc. I look at them every day and feel like I know them, although often I only know them by their character's name, unless they're a well-known actor. When I finally meet them in person, I feel like they should know me, since I look at them every day. So there's always a weird moment when I have to make the mental leap from their 2D image to seeing them in the flesh.

I love them, too! Provenza (G.W. Bailey, or as my young producers refer to him as, "The OLD guy") was in the first movie I ever worked on, "Summer of my German Soldier", back in 1978. It was one of his first films, too. Making us *both* old!

I just love him. Loved the episode last season (my favorite episode actually) with the sexy Jason O'Mara and Jefferson Mays as the doctor when the doctor was trying to run and G.W. didn't bother trying to catch him. Just stood there watching everyone else trying to apprehend him. Breaks me up every time I watch it.

I can't find it online, but back when the Last Starfighter musical was first mentioned on the internet, someone who was making fun of us a little had put up a picture of Robert Preston in his Star Car pulling in to the trailer park, and the caption was "Ya got trouble, right here in...what did you say the name of this dump is?"

So my folks had the traditional dipping of challah into honey.  Because it was Shabbos, i think, they didn't do the throwing away of sins into the water.

LOL, well we have a Conductor and Concert Mistress  from China, the composer of the premier piece was from China, the soloist is from Canada, 2 of the pieces were by a Russian.....they opened tonight with The Star Spangled Banner. That's something new. It was kind of nice.

Well...

Even though it's only 12:30am here in NYC, I'm actually gonna get ready for bed.  -I am surprisingly tired at this normally early hour for me.  However, tomorrow will be a quite the jam-packed day - meetings and meals galore!  *And don't forget your umbrellas!  -So, I guess a good night's sleep would be a good thing.   So...

Goodnight.

I think every dentist, soda jerk and garbageman knew that song, and wasn't shy about singing it to me. I had a brief respite in the 70's between generations whne people forgot about the Loesser song, until Pure Prairie League came out with their song: "Amy (Whatcha Gonna Do)" and then it started all over again!

I did get an email tonight from the Santa Fe Film Festival curator inviting us to show our film there. (It's always nice to get invited...then you don't have to pay an entry fee!)

Any Kimmlets in the Santa Fe area? The festival is in December...
