Well, after over 9 months of preproduction and 3 months of playing the friggin' show, today is the last performance of THE PRODUCERS.  Can't say I'm sad.  ;)

The internet seems very quiet this morning. Very little occurring. Maybe that's my cue to close up shop here and head downstairs to get laundry ready for washing and then start to think about what's for lunch.

Found out yesterday my Godfather passed away at the age of 94 from complication of Alzheimers. He was a superior court judge in Canada and was responsible for my father going to practice law in Toronto and because of that he met my mother and they got married and then had me. One person can make a difference. Even though I did not see him for the last 7 years he will be missed.

DR Jane - I hope that your DS Craig was able to get his move accomplished yesterday, and that the weather "coordinated" with his move too.

So...

After I left the apartment yesterday, I met up with my friend, Daniel, and continued playing tourguide for the weekend.

Of course, we started at MoMA.  They had just "revolved" the exhibition in the photography galleries, and since Daniel, in addition to being a pianist and teacher is also a photographer...

It turned out that they were featuring some Avedon photographs in the final room, and some of them were duplicate/copies/prints of the ones currently on display at the ICP.  It was neat seeing them in a different setting, different context.

We were originally planning on eating lunch in Cafe 2 at MoMA, but since Daniel was only in town for two days, I decided a change of scene and venue might be good for lunch, so we headed over to the Parker Meridien for some burgers.

Thankfully, the line wasn't too bad, and we were also able to snag a booth.

The weather seems a bit better today, though there is the threat of rain, sorry BK. The sun is out at the moment but it's off and on down here in Chelsea.

I'm supposed to try and see How Now Dow Jones this late afternoon. I just heard from my friend and we are going to see it so I have to just marinate the chicken breasts and leave them in the refrigerator and have the for Tuesday dinner since HNDJ is at 5:45 and I'm seeing Mr. Kimmel tomorrow evening. I took out the chicken breasts yesterday and didn't remember that I'm seeing the show until this morning when they already had defrosted. Oh, well, they should keep in the marinade.

After lunch, we headed across the street to Steinway Hall.  I was a little hesitant to head in there after my last visit there - one of the receptionists was most definitely having a bad day that day - but after signing the guest book (which everyone is required to do), we were greeted by one of their lead salesmen.  Even though we were "just browsing", he did say he would be happy to show us the other gallery upstairs if we wanted to take a look.  -That's when I began to wonder if he remembered me from two previous trips to Steinway Hall where I came up to help select a new concert grand for two groups. -Oh, if I only $136,00 to spare for a grand piano right now.  ::)

After "dreaming" - and some playing - of pianos at Steinway, we walked over to the Time-Warner Center, where we came across this upstairs in the Jazz at Lincoln Center venue:

The Collage Aesthetic of Louis Armstrong: "In the Cause of Happiness"

“My hobbie (one of them anyway),” Louis Armstrong wrote to a friend in 1953, “is using a lot of scotch tape… My hobbie is to pick out different things during what I read and piece them together and make a little story of my own.”

What a beautiful little gem of an exhibit this turned out to be! His "tape box collages" not only reflected Louis Armstrong's career, but also the political and social climate over the course of his career.  -As well as a very interesting obsession(?) with Swiss Kriss.

I had dropped her at the church fair along with several of her friends and she was meeting up with some more so that there were 10 of them together - between the ages of 15  - 17

I was siposed to pick them up at 10:30 when  the fair ended but the Vixter called at  9:30 and said they were done with the rides and asked if it was alright if they all walked to her best friends house (8 blocks "the short way") from the fair - 4 stayed behind but it was to be 3 girls and 3 boys  walking together so I agreed (as did the other parents) these are good kids they all knew to call if they were changing venues

On their wauy to the best friend house they were approached by 2 boys - one of whom grabbed an IPOD away from one of our boys - the victim  tried to stop the theif from leaving by grabbing the thief's shirt - tearing it in the process-  but he was punched in the face and he let go.  The theives ran away and the group made the wise decision not to persue but to get to the best friend's house and her parents as soon as possible.

As soon as they arrived they called 911 and the police weho wer at the fair wer able to identify and capture the the thief with the torn shirt (who was enjoying  his ill gotten gains - listening to his new IPOD) - the other one dissappered

The various parents were called  - the victim  id'd the thief bu the thief claimed - "some one found the the IPOD and gave it to him"  - so the Police came back and asked if anyone else could ID the thief & the Vixter volunteered -  all parties were taken to the precinct in separate cars - the parents following in their own vehicles
