Well, you've read the notes, the notes were not given short shrift, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently a little confused by the word shrift.
-
And the word of the day is: SPLENETIC!
-
And if the shoe fits, wear it, baby.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all! I will shortly be out to fix the DEAREST ENEMY brouhaha as best I can.
As soon as the scores are copied and the originals returned to my friend Joseph Rubin's dorman, I will head back uptown to continue the work on ROBERTA. I'd like to accomplish this ASAP so that I can rest up a bit before I go out again tonight to see LYSISTRATA JONES, Douglas Beane's new musical.
It's a rainy day in Manhattan, so I'm hoping that I will have no trouble getting a taxi. We'll see. I keep thinking today's Wednesday, not Tuesday, and tomorrow is the day everyone flees the City.
That's my day in a nutshell.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Too much to do today. And I have work on top of it. I hope I remember the priorities on that.
-
The book is coming together. i would say we were past the 90 percent mark.
-
And the word of the day is: SPLENETIC!
And The Song Of The Day Is: ILL WIND
-
Good morning.
-
Good morning to all
-
TOD
As long as they can make a decent chicken/turkey club (3 levels) I'm happy.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! It's pouring rain here in SW Ohio and, of course, I have to go grocery shopping today. Have to get everything but the turkey that we need for Thanksgiving, which sounds like more than it really is. All we're cooking is the turkey (a fresh one, which we'll get at the butcher's tomorrow), stuffing, and pumpkin pies (which I'll bake tomorrow evening). My sister-in-law is bringing scalloped corn and rolls, our friend Betty is bringing sweet potatoes and roasted vegetables, and Mary Linda is making a chocolate/pecan pie.
-
It sure looks like a good morning.

It sure looks like a good morning.
Not here it isn't. It's extremely dull - very dark and gloomy. But otherwise things are good. :)

To answer yesterday's questions from Michael S regarding "J. Edgar Hoover":
As I recall, BK recorded this in 2008.
HAIL ON THE CHIEF began as a straight play, then was adapted into a musical comedy in about 2006 or 2007. It had 2 series of staged readings at the Stella Adler Theater in Hollywood, one in 2007 and the other in 2008. BK starred in one and directed the other.
After I moved to and got settled in Austin in 2009, I began working on the book again, figuring I would do a full production here.
Unfortunately, because certain sordid events in the private life of the political figure that we spoof in the play have recently become public, I've had to rethink a major portion of the play and, because of that, the project is currently on a back burner.
Too bad, because I really like some of the songs in this show.

TOD: I can't remember the name of the diner, but it was in Cincinnati and i stumbled upon its chrome and stainless beauty with some friends when we were out drinking. I gave up the alcohol for that evening in favor of a lemonade that was made with seltzer and little sugar. It remains the best I've ever lemonade I've ever had. I keep looking for it ever since.
As for the food, I, too, like a perfect club sandwich or old-fashioned chicken salad (no grapes, no almonds, no fenugreek ...) on thin white toast. Or pimento cheese. A real milkshake. A slab of handmade pie.

Nice photo DR GINNY.
CD ordered.
My inner web was down this morning but it seems to be okay now......of course the computer in the living room is not working....strange.
-
DR TCB and DR MBARNUM - I mailed you packages this morning.....it is now in the hands of the USPS.
-
Why would the inner web work in one room and not the other?
-
Thanks, DR JRand!
-
TOD - I'm wondering if DR John G is thinking of Cincinnati's Diner on Sycamore, which recently re-opened as
Joe's Diner on Sycamore (http://www.cincinnatimagazine.com/dining/moredine/Story.aspx?id=1370231)
It's near the old School for the Creative and Performing Arts (recently moved closer to Music Hall). Richard and I last ate there before Rob was born, so maybe it's time to check it out again!
-
Hmmmm....HHW and Facebook are working.....Yahoo and Google are not....
-
And my avatar photo is not loading.
-
Oh there it is.
-
Google is back.....grrrrrrrrrr
-
DR JMK - I downloaded that 1962 video and burned it to DVD, if you want a copy.

The relationship between J. Edgar and Tolson is a central feature of J. EDGAR! You should try to check it out, it's very, very funny.

Here's your useless etymological fact o' the day: SHORT and SHRIFT are actually different forms of the same root which split around the time of the First Germanic Sound Shift (Grimm's Law). Finally, that English degree has come in useful. ;)
-
Happy Birthday, Michael Callan.
I wish they would release OCCASIONAL WIFE on DVD.
-
It is incredibly stormy and windy here. Kind of scarily so.
-
Hmmm......I think the cable I was using between my modem and my router was bad.....I can't understand it, I have only had it for three years, and it cost me a dollar.

I've been there! After seeing Carmon Deleone's ballet PETER PAN with the Cincinnati Ballet.
-
Greetings from Toyland!
-
I was up at six and announced our new release, which I can see is selling very slowly, and then I went back to bed where I had a succession of completely weird dreams. So, I think I somehow got eight hours of sleep overall.
-
LOL.....I think MR BK should be on the next cycle of Dancing With the Stars.
-
That would bring about some weird dreams for sure.
-
Off to Kroger - in the rain :P
Bye for now!
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And it's not raining where I am.

As for the Topic of the Day...
Third Street Diner in Richmond was my standby when I lived in Richmond. Not only are they open 24 hours, but they also serve "Grilled D's" - day old Krispy Kreme doughnuts reheated on the griddle, served with or without ice cream and chocolate sauce and a maraschino cherry. ;)
-
Good Morning!

Oh....
Yeah...

Feel better vibes for DR TCB ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
DR TCB thanks for the laugh. I enjoyed the DITTO Christmas decorations.
-
It's sunny but nippy here. I shall now do a four-mile jog.
-
And I need to go for a walk.
Laters...

More rain headed your way DR GINNY.

Happy Birthday, Michael Callan.
The actor who was billed as Mickey Callan in the original Broadway cast of West Side Story?
-
I forgot to mention yesterday.
I had a pleasant surprise. I received a phone call from Warner Brothers. My new copy of Lost Horizon is on its way to me.
I guess its easier to fix an On-Demand goof than recall DVD/Blu Ray release of subpar transfers like WSS & MFL (as they called on Home Theater Forum) :-)

Home at last! It's really unpleasant outside. I had a difficult time find a taxi to take me back to 4th Avenue after the photovopying and then I had to schlep all of my photocopies from 11th Street to 82nd Street. I do have time to crash before tonight's show and that's fantastic!
-
I have watched STING OF DEATH - which is now on its way to DR MBARNUM......I have no words to describe this film.....the killer jelly fish OR the poolside dance party to the music of Mr Neil Sedaka singing....."Do the Jella Jella Jellyfish."
I was entertained.
-
It's a great day to have time to crash DR ELMORE.....very dreary here in the MidWest......even more so than usual, I mean.
-
I'm sorry some of you have awful weather. It is glorious here.
-
Good Afternoon!
I'm back from my walk which included a stop at Whole Foods for a bite to eat as well as some errands along the way.
-
I'm sorry some of you have awful weather. It is glorious here.
It's pretty nice here too right now. I guess all the inclement weather that was here on Sunday, moved east. ::)

DR Elmore - I hope you enjoy LYSSIE JONES. I'm so happy for Jack, the Artistic Director of Transport Group, for their first Broadway transfer. I'm hoping to catch it the week I get back from LA.

Time for another or two in Finale-land.

-
Well, just as I was about to walk out the back door to go to Kroger, the FedEx guy rang the bell at the front door and delivered our iPhones! So, we delayed my departure until Richard could go and we headed for the Verizon store, which is what the nice young man who waited on us Friday told us to do. We were the only customers in the store and it seemed that they couldn't get us out of there fast enough. They did get our new phones set up and they transferred our contacts from our old phones, so we're in business I guess.
-
Is that a new avatar DR DRUXY, or have just been asleep?
You must have been asleep.
::)
I put that up months ago.

It only took me an hour to download the ringtone I wanted...

It is....a movie! Actually, I love it! I even interviewed the male lead of the film. Nice guy. He did a lot of movies and stuff in Florida. I gave my copy to him, so it will be nice to have another copy again!

Watched a DVDr of the 1950s B film NO MAN'S WOMAN....wow, what a great movie...unfortunately, the dvd stops half way through...but, boy....Marie Windsor pisses off a bunch of people, including John Archer, Patrick Knowles, Nancy Gates, Jil Jarmyn, and Richard Crane...and one of them bumps her off, but good!
I will have to order a replacement so that I can find out 'who dun it!'

I woke at 4.00am today and couldn't get back to sleep. Not good! I can cope with waking at 5.00am which I often do but 4.00am is much too early.
-
The rain eased up as we were leaving the market which I consider excellent timing.
It was somewhat somber at the market today (MBarnum, Shop & Kart) as Saturday one of their employees was murdered shortly after leaving work. I was hoping I wouldn't recognize the 22 year old but I did. He was on the walking/bike path. This is a small town & I'm sure he felt safe.
-
DR Jane--thanks for the birthday wishes!
-
Include the DC area in the dreary weather department! (though it's supposed to be nice for the holiday weekend).
-
Hoping TCB will check in and tell us he's had a good day!
-
You are welcome DR Kevin. I'm sorry I to be late.
-
I was reading a bit about the murder. I fear they will never know who did this. I also don't think this would have happened if it didn't get dark so early. When I think of all the stretches along the path that isn't one stretch I would have been concerned about. The police said they will increase their patrol of the walking path which made me "laugh" since I have never seen a police person on any portion of the walking/bike path.

Thanks Jane, Laura, and Kevin H.

Laura, the pain blocker did work at first. It took my low-levek pain from a 6.5 to around a 4. Last week it slid back to a five; and as of last night it is back to a 6.5,
But, I still can't have a second shot until January.

Well, I had been forewarned that the shot didn't always work for a full sixty days.
Form what I have heard, the second shot doesn't usually work as well as the first. Great!
-
But by then I will have seen the other surgeon and he will hopefully be scheduling surgery.
-
I have checked the circuit breaker, I have flipped the surge protector switch both directions. Should there also be a reset button on the surge protector, or is that too much to hope?

DR TCB, hang in there!

I don't know, I guess I will go to bed.
-
DR TCB, hang in there!
Thanks, Ginny.

DR TCB I don't know about a reset button, however, I'm sorry to tell you surge protectors do need replacing occasionally. I verified this with Keith.

Eighteen days after the book was published it has finally arrived at my local library. I still have 1 1/2 books to read on my Nook before their due date. I'm excited to have a brand new book available to me but will wait until it is convenient to pick it up.

Be back later...unlike Frank.

What a long day, but I have finally returned home. Did the four-mile jog, had some lunch (with my editor), got the complete finished last three episodes of season one and those are now on my computer and ready to upload when the time comes, picked up some packages but still not the one that is now VERY errant and truant, then had a really rough rehearsal - there's always one that's like it, so I'm glad it's out of the way. Concentration was low, way too many flubbed lyrics, etc. The lighting guy wrote the show and we saw it last night, but it was almost impossible to tell anything, so tomorrow will be all about that.

I really enjoyed LYSISTRATA JONES and its energetic cast of newbies. The production is joyful, peppy, cleverly staged and a great deal of fun. I saw Douglas Beane before the show and he told me I'd probably not like the music. It's of a style completely foreign to me, yet I thought it suited the show. that it was ingeniously arranged for 7 players, and I had a great time.
The cast is amazing, and the choreography, and basketball maneuvers, are quite well staged. A good time was had by all. Especially me. I wish it a huge success.

Good Evening!
Well... I thought tonight's rehearsal went well. -Especially since we were short one cast member, and were running the show in "half light" as it were. But, all shows need a "two steps back" rehearsal, and I guess tonight was that rehearsal. Onward and upward.

DR TCB - Glad to read that you had a better night and a better day. Let's hope the streak continues.

The piano light was out for part of the beginning of the rehearsal - makes it difficult to play - once I noticed, I told the lighting guy and he turned it on.

DR Ginny - Enjoy your new iPhones!
-
New World has written that the CDs have arrived!
And which CDs would these be? The Victor Herbert Songs? Does this mean that they'll be offered for sale soon?

!!!!!!PAGE SIX!!!!!!

I've been thinking of getting an iPhone. I'll be anxious to hear how you like yours, DR Ginny!
Keith was very happy with his until he got the iPad which made the iPhone totally unnecessary for him.
He can make calls on his iPad??
Actually, if you have a 3G-enabled iPad, you can make phones calls from it. There are also some apps that allow you to make calls via a WiFi connection.

And...
I believe it's time for me to get ready for bed.
Goodnight.
