Well, you've read the notes, you've snacked on the notes, which were fruity, and now it is time for you to post until the fruity cows come home.

DR JOSE is in Chicago.
Loved the pic of Sherlock and his progenitor.
And the story of DR FRANCOIS and the French Disneyland.
Today is of course a workday. Oh well.

Your productivity can reach a new high since the Moon makes its monthly union with Ceres - exact at 12:49AM PDT tomorrow.

Chilling murders?
In a movie, I usually look away. I'm not much for blood & guts.
But, if I had to choose one, it would certainly be Janet Leigh's death in PSYCHO, closely followed by Martin Balsam's.
-
Happy Birthday DR FJL!!!!!
-
DR MattH re: Ghost Whisperer (no spoilers). What did you think of the little girl who was the guest star? I absolutely love her. She is one of my favorite child actresses. She used to play Abby on The Young & The Restless. But they SORAs (aged) her character to 16. Such a bummer. I thought she was good last night.
-
Tonight is the surprise 65th birthday party for my sister's mother-in-law. Hopefully it will still be a surprise. I had told my niece (i thought she knew) because we were reading a story about surprise parties. And she didn't understand what that meant. So i explained that my party wasn't a surprise because i knew about it. But that lola's party was.
Good thing she didn't blab it to lola on the phone when she wished her happy birthday on thursday! :)
-
Unfortunately for me it won't be a home cooked party. I am very fond of filipino food. For some reason her friends decided to have it a fancy hotel with an expensive buffet.
-
TOD: The throat slitting in Sweeney Todd are pretty gruesome.
-
Hap-pyyyyy, Hap-pyyyy Birthday to FJL !!!!!
And many more!
(I had this lovely box of chocolates I was going to send you, but, alas, the box never made it to the P.O. They were delish ... divine ... just as you are heavenly, darling.)
-
To bookend FJL's BD greetings with accounts of chilling murders seems a bit unseemly on my part, but here goes for TOD:
For me, murders that involve torture are the ones hardest to watch (make me cringe and look away and hide my eyes) -- like in the Saw movies -- some of the most disturbing, and you don't even see them committed, you see what the cops see when they walk in, are the ones in the movie Seven (haunting, creepy, gruesome, shocking, etc., etc.).
-
Good morning, all!My birthday card to our DR FJL was sent earlier than expected so he got my wishes last night! I hope he's having a wonderful day.
I have three things to accomplish beyond my work goals tday:
1. walk to pharmacy
2. laundry
3. market
Other than that, I need to proofread and finish "The Cardinal" film score suite by tomorrow night. When that is finished, I can either begin the vocal score to Moross' Civil War show GENTLEMEN BE SEATED or jump back to MOST HAPPY FELLA.
First up, laundry. So, excelsior!
-
Hey, where's Dino?? :)
He's at the finger piano (with his sax). Wonder if he got cast for the reading of the First Nudie Musical?
-
a bit unseemly on my part
Well, it's not the first time.
-
And it won't be the last, I'm sure.
;D
-
Happy Birthday to FJL!!!
We can have cake (or whatever wonderment Skip will create) on Friday.
Yummy

My brother and sister-in-law will be driving in from New Jersey and we're spending some time with them.

HAPPY NATAL DAY, DR FJL!

She was excellent. For the episode to work, you had to believe the little girl could hear those voices and be concerned. She was thoroughly convincing.
The show also contained one big BOO moment that made me jump in my chair.
-
And speaking of snacks, here's a brownie baking pan for those who only like the edge pieces!!!! :D

I'm going to try my best to finish up with the X-MEN box today. I can do X-MEN 2 this afternoon since it appears ALL of the bonus features on the Blu-ray are just ports from the DVD release of X2. Thus, I won't need to watch any of them, just make sure what's there is the same thing I've already taken notes on from the DVD 2-disc set.
Tonight, I'll tackle X-MEN 3. For this, I've already seen the film in high definition on its previous release (though I'll spot check the transfer to make sure the quality is the same). But many of the bonuses were not included on the last Blu-ray release of the movie since it was on a BD 25 disc rather than a BD 50. Thus, I'll be watching a bunch of bonus features tonight connected with X3 that I haven't seen yet. That will take a majority of the evening, I suspect.
-
If I get some time to myself today (other than my lunch break when I'll likely watch SUPERNATURAL from Thursday night), I'll watch DANCE FOOLS DANCE, the next Joan Crawford movie from the Warner Archive Collection.
-
Oh, Spoo!
Good morning!
We had some rain sprinkles this morning, and it's still overcast outside suggesting we may get more rain later today. High back up to 80 today. Argh!
-
TOD:
I've seen lots of brutal murders on the screen. The ones in PSYCHO certainly jerked me right out of my seat when they happened (I stood straight up in the theater due to the shock). I guess those were the most horrific at the time. The assassinations of Bonnie and Clyde in that movie and of Sonny Corleone in THE GODFATHER were also wildly disturbing.
-
A song for FJL's birthday:
Happy birthday to Fred.
There's a cat on your head.
No, wait, he's on my head.
Happy birthday to Fred.
I wrote it myself.
-
Happy Birthday to FJL!!!

Did you show Anthony the Joan Morris/Civil War LP?

Guess I'll do some computer tidying up and then head downstairs to check the mail and then start on lunch preparation.

Saturday morning greetings from the Genealogy Center at the Allen Co. (Indiana) Public Library! I'm here with my sister and her friend Lois. They're the genealogists and I'm pretending to work. Actually, I am going to work on some lists of nonfiction and fiction books about Abraham Lincoln for my book group. In June, we'er going to have a Lincoln Literary Roundtable - each of us will pick a different book about the Great Emancipator and share it with the group at our June meeting.
After while, I'm going to leave the Michiganders here to visit the Vera Bradley signature store, do some other shopping, and head home.
-
Happiest of birthdays to our Manhattan host-with-the-most, DR FJL!
-
My other bit of good newsw is that my brothers have finally decided on a price for the property they can live with under a million dollars that's finally reasonable and a potential selling price. Oy.

I should have asked yesterday for vibes for winning last night's $220,000,000 megamillions drawing! Then my brothers could have the damned property.

BK
A couple of questions about No Way To Treat a Lady
Just listened to Guy Haines radio spiel at the beginning of the cast album of No Way to Treat a Lady.
According to what is said the first scene takes place
Jul 6, 1970.
Now the movie was made in 1968.
Do you know what the reason was for moving the story up two years for the musical?
-
Interesting talk about "No Way to Treat a Lady," since I am currently taking a songwriting course from Harriet Schock, who wrote the hit song "Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady," which was the parodied subject of my parody with the AIG twist "Ain't No Way To Treat Ed Liddy"
-
Question #2
The musical had the conceit of having the same actress playing Mrs. Brummel, Mrs. Gill and the murder victims.
Do you think there should have been one actress to play Mrs. Brummel and another actress playing Mrs. Gill and the murder victims?
The murder victims were supposed to remind Christopher Gill of his mother.
Mrs, Brummel is not supposed to remind him of his mother. They actually never meet.
-
I also think I read somewhere that the painting of Mrs Gill (I forget her first name) in the film No Way To treat a Lady is
Joanne Woodward.
(or it might have been for another film)
-
HAPPIEST OF DAYS, FJL!
-
Happy Happy Birthday, FJL...or should I say my long-lost "Dad"?
-
I think the painting of Joanne Woodward is in Sleuth.
-
The same actress playing all those roles works well. And they're all mother figures of one sort or another - and Gill talks specifically about Morris's mother throughout the show. I don't know why Doug moved it up to 1970.
-
Thanks so much to JMK (you helped make my year with your Fish comment on castrecl), and to possible-offspring Cason (sniff, I am so proud that men are ogling you in restaurants :) )
-
Oh, and I'm up. Looks like a nice day out, but I haven't decided about the jog yet.
-
And thanks to BK for the mention in the Notes
-
Am I right about Joanne Woodward in Sleuth? I have that image in my head for some reason.
-
You're very welcome, FJL.
-
And I hope you're doing something fun for your birthday.
-
Perhaps Skip will beat some eggs with a whisk in your honor.
-
Lawsy, lawsy, lawsy--HHW did *not* like me wishing FJL a happy birthday--I just got stuck in some iteration nightmare where HHW windows kept popping up over and over and over (I had like 300 HHW windows open and couldn't close them--the title of my next novel, obviously).
FJL, what was my Fish comment?
-
Perhaps he'll beat YOU with a whisk in your honor.
-
And then you can have him arrested and at the trial you can say, "I was beaten with a whisk in my honor, Your Honor.
-
DR elmore3003 - is the potential buyer still in the picture, or is this brotherly agreement only for going forward?
I think the potential buyer is turning out to be a fraud who owes money in Cincinnati for a mall. I'm happy they've finally agreed on a price. That was the problem the first year after my dad's death; they wanted a million, and if the recession hadn't happened, they might have actually got it.
-
Laundry is finished and the bathroom and kitchen mopped. I'm hlding off on the pharmacy till Monday, so it's Moross now and the market later.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm still in Chicago!! And having a wonderul time!
-
David and I just got back from a wonderful breakfast in Andersonville - otherwise known as "Man-dersonville" - at a great place called "m. henry". Sooo good. Great food and great coffee - and usually the twain of those two things don't meet in the same place, but they did here. -Metropolis beans, for those keeping track.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR FJL!!!!!!
-
And now we're going to head downtown to walk around Millenium Park and Navy Pier for a few hours. -OH! and it's an absolutely gorgeous and sunny day here today in Chicago! In any case...
We're also going to try to stage door a few shows after today's matinee, especially since Baayork is in town this weekend with A Chorus Line - and, yes, DR elmore, I shall pass on a Hi and a hug for you!
I shall post some more when we come back to David's apartment before heading out for dinner tonight.

So, until later...

OK, I'm off to Jefferson Pointe shopping center, then headin' south. Next post from home in Middletown.
Bye for now!

Thanks DRs Jose & JRand.
Jose, Sherlock’s doggie dad just turned 4 & Sherlock will be 3 July 29th. The breeders said his dad really filled out & even grew a little in height between his 3rd & 4th year. It will be interesting to compare them again when Sherlock is 4.

Too long errant and truant have I been. So, now with all the First Nudie stuff going on, I figured now is as good a time as any to start reintegrating myself.

Today is going to be a long rehearsal day. I have to be at the theater at noon for a mic fitting. Then from 2:00 to 4:00 is a sitzprobe, then a two hour break, and then first dress rehearsal from 6:00 to 10:45 (we are doing the Eugene O'Neil version of GUYS AND DOLLS).

I didn't know that! Ha! How fun. :)
Are you going to go audition?
-
DR Cason I think your girl friend is darling.
-
This last week has been anything but great. I won't go into details as I'm just writing it off as a challenging week and things are beginning to look up.
However, all I really want is for the Stage Manager to call the curtain DURING the final chord of Act One. I've tried to explain the concept to her a dozen times, I've even tried English the last 2 times!!!! The curtain comes down on the final HELD CHORD of the Act One. Every night, I wait for the curtain to come down, but it never moves. Therefore, I have to cut the ensemble off in the light because they can't hold that final chord forever and we are left with a stupid tableau, so NOT R&H!!!!
Happy Birthday to DR FJL
-
My tummy is feeling a little weird, so I think I will forego the jog - unless the sun comes out later and I'm feeling better - we shall see.
Here in Olympia, yesterday was absolutely beautiful! Very warm and sunny. I was going to walk to work today, but now it's raining! I love the rain, but it's not fun to walk to work in it. :-\ So, I'll be driving to work...as usual.

Hell, yes! They've just started rehearsing "Romeo & Juliet" right now and I've been cast as Romeo's father. "R&J" is the fifth show that I've done with them, so I think I have a good chance to be in The Brain. ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to FJL!!

TCB, I was so sorry to read about Angel. Hugs to you!
-
Welcome back to Cason.

TOD:
I don't like violence and don't usually look, but, that said, I also found the rape and murder in VIRGIN SPRING most disturbing, as well as the throat-cutting in SWEENEY TODD.
-
Another visit to the doggie park today. It will probably be my last for a while, as I will be moving again.
-
DR elmore I hope the potential buyer turns out to be legit. Congrats on your brothers waking up to reality.
Remember, one's married to a very sensible and wonderful lady but the other jerk's married to Lady Macbeth and she's pure evil.

Happy Happy Birthday, FJL...or should I say my long-lost "Dad"?

Too long errant and truant have I been. So, now with all the First Nudie stuff going on, I figured now is as good a time as any to start reintegrating myself.
I heard you were dead!
-
Well, I've had a bit of leftover pizza for lunch and I'm back to "The Cardinal." What a beautiful score! I should buy the DVD at some point.
So, DR Nursie, about LITTLE DORRIT: didn't you love the cast? Tom Courtenay's last two appearances as the ridiculous and vain Mr Dorrit broke my heart, and I loved John, the turnkey's son, whose last scenes were really painful for me. I thought the scene in which he told Arthur that Amy loved him was really wonderful. And Judy Parfitt, what a great actress. I also liked the actor who played Amy's uncle and the actress who played her vain trampish sister.
-
DR JOSE is in Chicago.
Loved the pic of Sherlock and his progenitor.
And the story of DR FRANCOIS and the French Disneyland.

A little correction though:
I never worked at the "French Disneyland" ...

Staying home all weekend.
In honor of yesterday's earthquake, I will earthquake proof the collection of Murano glass I want to hold on to.
-
See you in a few.
-
Read today's posts..
Dear George, you absolutely have to be in The Brain next year.
-
Back from errands and my designer's. Re the topic o' the day - I said "chilling" murders, not brutal or violent murders only. For example, and SPOILER AHEAD - in Wait Until Dark when Richard Crenna gets it you see NOTHING and yet it is so unexpected it's completely chilling.
-
for the topic of the day.
In my early 20's I lived in Glendale. One morning leaving for work, I opened the front door to find a murdered teenager on our front lawn. Because I made the call to the police, both our house in Glendale and the house we moved to in Burbank was searched by the detectives. One of the neighbors said we did it, that we had wild parties all the time. Turned out that it was a drug murder committed somewhere else, and they just dumped the body where we lived. The detectives in Glendale and Burbank were just wonderful the whole time. They had to do their job and I never even questioned anything they needed to do.
Now I watch movie murders with a different view, I have to remind myself they are not real.
-
Trying to upload some Quicktime videos to YouTube - does it usually take so long? I mean, it's a four-minute clip.
-
And not to pat myself on the back, but I think the murder that ends act one in Deceit is pretty chilling.
-
Is it possible I saw Wait Until Dark at the Cinerama Dome ? Boy, do I remember that scene. The theatre was complete dark, and I was scared.
-
Back to earthquake proofing.
See you in a couple of hours.
-
No, Wait Until Dark played the Egyptian.
-
I just put the three clips into iTunes - each took approximately five seconds, whereas uploading one to YouTube has so far taken fifteen minutes and isn't even halfway through. What gives?
-
This wasn't a murder, but it was a violent, shocking death scene.
I think the film was called DEEP BLUE SEA. It's a shark movie.
SPOILER:
Samuel L. Jackson, ostensibly the guy who is going to save the day, is talking to a group of people, when this huge shark suddenly leaps up out of a tank and devours him in one quick swallow.
-
Yes, Larry, I showed Anthony Who Shall Rule... He is extremely happy and can't wait to take it out of the jacket and slip it onto the turntable.
He's busy getting his life back in order here in the city and he wants to savor listening to the record so he hasn't put it on yet.
I spent part of the day cleaning the bathroom.
It turned out to be a nice day here after all. The weather reports have mentioned rain and drizzly cold weather but it's sunny (off and on) and nice.
We went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and bought a new whistling tea kettle and St. Ives Apricot Facial Scrub.
We will have a baked potato, sliced chicken and spinach for dinner.
We may watch something on the DVD after dinner but we don't know what we will watch.
-
I think the painting of Joanne Woodward is in Sleuth.
And billed as Eve Channing in the opening credits.
-
Why does it take five seconds to import a quick time movie into iTunes and one hour to import the same thing to YouTube???
-
I watched the Liza Minnelli episode on the Biography-HD channel while lunch was cooking.Stupid people ought to know by now you can't show standard definition material and merely stretch it across the screen and have it look worth a crap.
-
And not to pat myself on the back, but I think the murder that ends act one in Deceit is pretty chilling.
I was too busy cheering the death of the leading lady. You were doing the audience a favor.
-
While I ate lunch, I watched this week's episode of SUPERNATURAL. Fantastic show. Castiel is the sexiest angel ever to appear on American TV. (David Boreanez was the sexiest Angel -- ;D ).
-
Page Six Dance!!!
-
Then I watched X2: X-MEN UNITED on Blu-ray. I was only going to spot check the transfer, but I got drawn into the movie and couldn't stop watching. Isn't that ALWAYS the way!
;D
-
Yes, Larry, I showed Anthony Who Shall Rule...
And you have so many new choices!
-
I still should be able to get to the X3 bonus features tonight, but this has put me somewhat behind my timetable for the day.
-
Heading back to the home theater to continue viewing my work projects.
WBBL.
-
Still uploading video 2. It will be at least another forty minutes for that one, and then I have a third - it's really annoying and I wish one of you brainiacs would tell me an easier way than an hour per video - it's ridiculous and it makes no sense to me. You're not going to tell me that folks who upload hundreds of videos a day spend an hour per video.
-
JMK - Someone on castrecl had posted an article about the young lady who's starring in West Side Story, and the article said she ate only a steady diet of fish. And you posted something to the effect of "She only eats fish? Paging Fred Landau."
One of the most feel-good moments of my 49th year!
-
So, DR Nursie, about LITTLE DORRIT: didn't you love the cast? Tom Courtenay's last two appearances as the ridiculous and vain Mr Dorrit broke my heart, and I loved John, the turnkey's son, whose last scenes were really painful for me. I thought the scene in which he told Arthur that Amy loved him was really wonderful. And Judy Parfitt, what a great actress. I also liked the actor who played Amy's uncle and the actress who played her vain trampish sister.
Very much so with one exception. I wasn't too keen on the evil murderer even though he captured creepy & evil well.

Thanks so much for the further birthday wishes to Jose (by some strange quirk, so much that's been terrific for me these past few months seems to trace back to Jose or his advice or referrals, and thus traces back to HHW of course), and to TCB (is cuddly a euphemism for needs to think about getting two seats on a plane? :) ), and to Jane (Toby & Dylan loved the foto!), to Matthew (curtain vibes to you), to George (vibes you get to be in the Brain in WA), Arnold (thanks for always being around and for the song of the day), Jeanne (new home vibes to you), Francois (so glad you're back), to Sam (so glad you're here)
We had a great brunch (at Bar Americain on 52nd Street) with my brother and sister-in-law. It was a real treat - my brother treated. They gave me lovely chocolates, and also a gag gift of Purell since I had almost cancelled the brunch out of fear after the remarks on TV earlier this week from V.P. Joe Biden about staying away from public places. The restaurant looks like it should have a dress code, but it seems they're casual after all, which I'll remember for next time I go there, and will probably encourage me to go there more often.
-
My thanks seem to be getting verboser and verboser as I settle further into the day. :)
-
There are some many of you out there that never got to see the train below because you weren't born yet, but others were and at least for me. ONCE WAS ENOUGH

-
We had thought about trying to see "9 to 5" tonight, but somehow much better seats - with a nice discount yet - seem to be coming up for next week. A quandry.
-
And there's a chance of getting to post 14000 on my birthday that seems well nigh irresistible.
-
More good news
NOT!

Balducci's in Chelsea's closed last Sunday. (The West 66th Street locale is history as well.) The originals flagship Balducci’s Sixth Avenue in Greenwich Village, closed in 2003 Another New York institution goes under.
How sad

Of course, if I had only put my birthday thanks in separate posts, I'd be at 14000 already.
-
Larry - Watched your card again on the official natal day. Thanks again

Just saw a trailer for the movie Bookends. (2007)
A great line
Man: "What is she.. a musician?"
Woman: "The only thing that girl knows how to perform is fellatio!"
-
Done with the earthquake stuff, bleached the bathroom (I hate mold).
And now to read yesterday's post.

FROM THE WHAT TOOK HER SO LONG DEPARTMENT
The fiancee of the Craigslist killer has finally decided to call off the wedding. Probably a good idea.
-
Interesting post from Kenneth in the 212
Zodiac Killer: I love it when famous old mysteries are finally solved. But this woman who now says her dad was the Zodiac, and that she even scribbled some of the taunting notes he sent, would be a lot more believable if the "expert document examine" who verified her handwriting claims didn't also happen to be an executive producer and narrator of a coming documentary about the case!

Thanks again to Kenneth for posting these.
Crack magazine's poster for the next MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY'S next movies.
I always thought that CRACK was a poor cousin to MAD. Inferior writing and art work. BUT
When they get it. They get it good.
As Kenneth remarked
These are all so spot-on that you can almost hear the producers in Hollywood screaming, "SHIT! Now we're gonna have to cancel THAT one."

Here is ALICE RIPLEY performing Meadowlark. Taken from a performance of the Baker's Wife with an introduction I never heard before. Who Does He Think He Is? (??)
It doesn't identify where or when it was done. And Miss Ripley is a burnet (Not Carol)

Of the 3 Turkey Lurkey video's I watched, bk's is the most fun.

DR Jeanne, will there be a DF & H3 or did you find a little place of your own?

We're having an honest to goodness thunderstorm here. Thunder is quite rare in NW for some reason.

Dear MichaelS.

Ozzie Ozborne and Mary Kate Olsen or is it Ashley? Or Susan?

Dear MichaelS.
5 minutes was enough to remind me why I stay away from Fox.
Seeing it this way is so obvious. There is an agenda. I wouldn't be so critical if they were fair and balanced. But they are not
-
Of the 3 Turkey Lurkey video's I watched, bk's is the most fun.
Take a look at this video. Seth Rudesky who has work with BK on a couple of early albums deconstructs Turkey Lurkey Time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4u70p_SSi0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4u70p_SSi0)
The three other videos I have seen are
1) Original Cast on the Tony Awards
2) Original Cast with replacements (Donna & Margo are not there)
3) From the movie Camp. The least of the three.
#1 has Donna McKechinie with all her head bops and kicks. What a dancer she was (is)

Dear MichaelS. Thank you for the great entertainment.

Dear Jane, just beautiful pics, dogie and location.

Today I dug up the sod in the area where I am putting in a little garden, then mixed in mulch and manure with new top soil. It was a lot of work (unlike Michelle Obama's garden photo op, the sod on my yard doesn't com pre-cut and pre-dug for easy removal)
I really don't like to garden. I do like to eat the vegetables fresh from the backyard, though, so I'll do it
-
I want a doggie just like Sherlock!

I also went clothes shopping today. There were some really good sales - door busters the whole 9 yards and there were very few people in the store. I was really surprised. Shopping is a necessity for me...after losing 46 pounds so far, nothing fits me. I'm several sizes smaller. :) I just hate having to spend the money to have clothes that fit
-
There was a particularly chilling murder in TORN CURTAIN.....a Russian agent just wouldn't stay down....I think he was finally dispatched with a shovel.
But the most chilling death/murder for me was the botched execution in THE GREEN MILE.

DR MATTH - I prefer the original GREY GARDENS documentary as well....but the HBO movie has a performance that - for me - goes beyond impersonation. Drew Barrymore IS Little Edie.

Tonight I'm planning to go through my closet again and take a bunch of stuff to Good Will. I am not going to keep my fat clothes.
-
Good Afternoon! Good Evening!
Have I mentioned yet that it's been an amazingly gorgeous day here in Chicago? Sooooo beautiful. And just perfect for picture taking and monkeys. ;)
-
DR Michael S - Yes, that is the song's original introduction as it is in the show. -And it's a bitch to conduct and play since it's so fast and changes meters every other measure.
-
And, yes, there can be too much Matthew McConnaughey. ;)
-
DR Matthew - Tell your stage manager that you will give her a visual cue with your left hand. And/or tell your director to have someone on stage move or make a gesture - and that will signal the descent of the curtain.
*Or just do like Paul Gemignani sometimes does when he's waiting - or wants people to wait - he looks at his watch while he's holding the prepatory beat.
-
DR FJL - Ooohh... Bar Americain! One of Bobby Flay's places. And, yes, it tends to be a bit more "casual" than one would think. *And it's also a surprisingly good bargain (relatively) for a lunch during the week.
*And, you're welcome. <welcome>
Mazel!
-
I am tired from all the digging in the sun.
-
And after spending a good chunk of this afternoon walking around Millenium Park and Grant Park - we never made it over to the theatre district to see anyone - David and I are now heading out dinner with some of his friends. Tonight's cuisine: Korean. And then I believe we're going to take a stroll along Halsted - a.k.a. Boystown. -I mean, when in Rome... ;)
Laters...
-
Sherlock on the trail.
He is so adorable!
Thank you. He seemed to have fun posing for me today.
-
DR TCB - I hope you have a wonderful dress rehearsal tonight. "More I cannot wish you..."
-
DR TCB is doing a Guys and Dolls marathon!
Loved seeing Turkey Lurkey time on You Tube.
-
I want a doggie just like Sherlock!
I hope one day you have a dog like Sherlock. He really is a great dog.

DR CILLA LIZ - if I gave away ALL of my fat clothes, casual Friday at World of Wisdom would be VERY VERY casual indeed.
-
I want a doggie just like Sherlock!
I hope one day you have a dog like Sherlock. He really is a great dog.
Thank you, DR JANE. Sometimes when I turn on the kitchen light at night, I think I see Miss Blue Moon pressing her nose against the French Door waiting for a bit of whatever I'm having.
-
Thanks so much, Cilla!
-
Opting for NINE TO FIVE on Tuesday (third row, at a nice discount) and going to just stay in - Bar Americain was enough birthday excitement for me. Had a very nice light meal after the mondo-big lunch.

I know what you mean. I still expect Bogie to cuddle when I roll over at night. The only time I don't miss him is when Sherlock is snuggled against me in Bogie's spot.
I fear I will have made DR TCB cry again.
-
Paula Dean makes me think - has anyone done "Cheekily Blonde" about Paula Dean, with a big number "So Much Butter"
-
And would it be a parody or a travesty? :)
-
Or Dolly Parton singing "So Much Glitter"
-
Thank you DR Sam. I’m saving the rest of the photos I took today until later. DR MBarnum & DD Bosco went on the hike with us once.
-
Or a wet T-shirt contest where they sing "So Much wetter"
-
Or Jose singing "So much Twitter"
-
DR CILLA LIZ - if I gave away ALL of my fat clothes, casual Friday at World of Wisdom would be VERY VERY casual indeed.
LOL!

I missed that-Very funny JRand. ;D

DR JRand, congrats on your 7 pound loss, nice & steady is the way to do it. :)
-
DR Cilla we had fresh grilled asparagus today. They were delicious, and they grow back every year.
Congratulations on losing 49 pounds & finding great bargains today. Good idea to get rid of the fat clothes. I have a policy, I don’t buy larger clothes. I just suffer until the ones I have are comfortable again.

My comments may show up sooner or later....I never know with You Tube. That "Things I Will Not Miss" is the only one I didn't "favorite." Don 't get the love for this dud, and the staging is surprisingly routine. Probably was better "live" and "in person."
Or maybe it's because I hate it in the movie SO MUCH!
-
Thanks DRJANE - only about 33 more pounds to go.
-
Thanks for posting all the clips, bk!!!! :)

DR Cillaliz, your progress toward your goal is truly inspiring!!!!!

How are you doing DAW?

Hang in there DR JRand, you can do it.
DR DAW, thank you.
-
Great progress on the diets!
-
Thanks, DR Cillaliz. I'm OK. Not much on the job front yet, but I'm clearing out LOTS AND LOTS of clutter and have started jogging. And the weather here has been so gorgeous, it's hard to feel bad about anything! :)

Speaking of diets, here's a draft of "So Much Butter" from Cheekily Blonde: The Paula Dean Story
(almost a parody of "So Much Better" :) )
All of the food I cooked
Hoping you’d get hooked
On my healthy cuisine
No not a single pat
Of congealing fat
In my healthy cuisine
And I have turned my kitchen inside out trying not to lose my show
Watching the turning tide is making me go whoa!
Oh!
Now viewers don’t mind a fatter hide
I’ll take you for a triglycer-ride
So what can I bake
I’ll use nothing that’s fake
And my ratings will soar
I need a trademark good as gold
Your fellas won’t mind much more to hold
I’ll use so much butter like before
Honey we’ve been obsessed
We’ve been watercressed
‘Til my viewership fell
But seems that a pound or two
Plus a poofy do
Can come off pretty well
Honey remember when we’d bake a cake on my program every night
They’d insist that I use only Fleischman’s Light
Get this right
We’re gonna use butter by the stick
No phony fat for this here chick
Being real can be hot
Are you ready or what
Hurry down to the store
I’m gonna buy butter by the tub
These days people love a funny zhlub
And now there’ll be so much butter
Your heart will flutter
The AMA’s gonna spit and sputter!
I’ll have so much butter
I’ll have so much butter
I’ll have so much butter like before!
-
A short rest from cleaning.
Good evening everyone.
-

Listening to Haines His Way.

It was very warm and humid today with dark clouds, but strangly nice out.
I attempted to mow the lawn this afternoon before the rains started again but was caught in the downpour. The rain was so warm that I just carried on and even did some weeding....I was completely drenched by the time I decided to call it quits...couldn't see with the water streaming down my face. It was a very hard rain.

Had a lengthy evening with the X-Men. The third film is the least of the trilogy, and, of course, it has the best transfer to my eyes. Sound is great, too. The film lacks all of the nuance that Bryan Singer brought to the first two films, but strictly as a comic book movie, it's OK.
-
There were, as I expected, a HUGE load of bonus features for the third film, so that took me a good three hours this evening. But I think I got through everything.
I really could have done without that hour long recitation (and interview) of every artist who ever worked on the X-Men comic series. Fans of the comics, of course, would be in hog heaven with it. But I watched it.
-
Thanks, Laura
-
Since I had a bunch of writing to do, I didn't watch another movie tonight. Instead, I watched Thursday night's episode of SOUTHLAND. I do like the show, but there are too many police characters, and due to that, they don't manage to fit each one in each week. Makes it hard for an audience to develop a rooting interest in characters we don't see on a weekly basis.
Looks like NBC has picked up the show for a 13-episode order to start next season. I suggest over the summer, they decide which characters need to stay and which need to go. Not every one is compelling enough to merit a spot on the show.
-
I plan to take the day off tomorrow and watch some Warner Archive discs, a Blu-ray, and possibly a Doris Day feature from that latest box set.
It will be great sitting in my chair without a notepad and pen in my lap.
-
However, I did get the next Criterion disc in the mail today: THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE. I will enjoy seeing that again after decades away from it.
-
I'm really tired so I'm heading downstairs a bit earlier than usual for some much needed rest.
Good night!
-
Good Evening!
And it really was a good evening. A very good evening.
Good food, good drink, and good company. *I even ended up having dinner with the CFO of Garrett Popcorn.
We're planning on heading out early tomorrow for breakfast, and, then, possibly a bike ride. Or at least a good walk. And then we're having a mini-Theatre-VCU reunion tomorrow afternoon.
-
And since I'm still basically on East Coast time...
Goodnight.
-

I was thinking the same thing, MattH. Some of the characters I just don't care about and I would like to see more police work and less soap opera storylines. Regina King's character is the one I find the most interesting of the lot, aside from the rookie patrolman and his partner. If the show were simply about those 3 characters I would be more than happy.

Could not find my Last Starfighter movie, so I watched Starman instead.
Oh the days before CGI.

All this talk about food, time to make some cranberry cornbread. Still on my forced diet of nothing hard, crunchy, sticky or chewy. Cornbread is OK.

Dear DAW, the weather has been nice here also, it's hard to feel bad about anything.

Jrand, the routine staging was done in about twenty minutes, just because I felt they should have some movement - Adam and I just did it off the cuff. Aside from the opening and Turkey Lurkey, which actually had rehearsal time, there were no rehearsals at all other than everyone coming in and singing their song for me and me telling them where they'd be standing. There was no time to do any sort of clever staging on the Lost Horizon number, much as we might have liked to.
