And DR Jason's family saga has brought a memory back that I'd totally forgotten:

I saw "Say One For Me" at a drive-in theater.  I saw it on my birthday back in 1959 or 1960, and my father took me to see it.  My mom stayed home.

It was most unusual for my father to do anything just with me (i.e. without my mom).

Ron, thanks for asking.

Yesterday our hardwood floors got their fist coast of stain.  The smell was horrific and our eyes were stinging, so off we went to a hotel in town.  Well, Keith stayed several hours raking leaves while I ran errands, then we went into town.

It was a beautiful day & a perfect afternoon for the Halloween parade.  After the parade, along with the rest of the crowd, we walked around town.  We had a delicious dinner in one of our favorite restaurants and walked around some more before stopping for ice cream to take back to the hotel with us.

The hotel had a beautiful view but the air/heat system wasn’t working properly & we roasted all night.  To top that off were the groups of people still celebrating until the early hours of the morning.

Keith was up and out of there by 5:30.  I sat in bed and watched a beautiful sunrise before taking a very long walk in the park.  Boy was I sorry not to have my camera with me.  After checking out I took a long walk around town and browsed in the bookstore.

DRLaura, I’m sorry to say there are no real Halloween duties for us in the country.   It was nice to be in town with the action.

Bruce-Kelbo’s :D  Do you have one of their menus? If you mentioned this-sorry.  It's difficult to catch up & my eyes are stinging a bit from the floor.

And now I must proceed with my aforementioned hie-ing...

-I hope DR elmore had a good rehearsal in Chicago yesterday...

-And to all the Hainsies and Kimlets out there...  Remember, 1/2 price Halloween candy at your nearest Target, CVS, Walgreen's, etc...!!!

:)

Laters...

Aren't you trying to get "buff" ;D.  Stay away from the candy.

JRand good news on the job-enjoy it.

Ginny. I’m sorry you have allergies and not a lingering cold.

Ben, good luck getting to Cardiff.

Michael S, I’m pleased to see you have returned.  My nephew emailed photos taken from his home in Naples.  It appears his sun room as moved into his pool.  I will have to check out if those were ficus trees lying on the ground.

Joy you are welcomed back vociferously.  I saw your avatar & broke out into a big smile.

Jason I would say your reaction to your parents leaving is normal.  Please don’t feel guilty or worry about it and just be happy they want to visit you and NY.   My family rarely visited us once we left LA.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MACCHUS!

MBarnum did you get a new window today?

The postman brought me something today: The 15th Anniversary Forever Plaid cd, starring the Las Vegas cast. The guys sound great, and the music is piano and bass, as it is supposed to be.

Vociferous enough for ya (if not quite as patriotic as my last post)?

It's raining rather hard now so all our windows and doors are closed.  It is beginning to smell in here.

Thanks for the info, JRand55.  I always forget about poor Russell Arms.

Don't know why.

So it was sort of a Farewell to Arms?  :P

SAY ONE FOR ME....I won that soundtrack a couple of years ago.  I don't mind the movie....and I can take EVERYTHING except Robert Wagner's "dancing."

Amen! (although use caution, as I believe little Dodie appears in one of those Adam-12 episodes!)

Too late!  I've already been incensed!  :P

Thanks to DR JANE, DR ELMORE, and others for the job vibes.  It isn't MUCH of accomplishment since my sister bought the store and offered me the part time position - but I guess I will have to show up to collect the paycheck!

DR DtM - do you want plain or plaid boxer replacements?  I am going to Goodwill tomorrow.

Plaid would be nice.  Faded plaid from the Goodwill looks better than faded plain.  And try for a pair that's not ripped at the crotch.

wonderful postings from DR JOSE - we are all living your dream with you vicariously.

And of course I know someone in Indiana who would LOVE one of those t-shirts.

How lovely to see the smiling face of Joy again after all this time.  That brings us Joy.

I second that emotion.  One can never have enough Joy in one's life.

Ginny. I’m sorry you have allergies and not a lingering cold.

A nurse once said to me, "Why don't you just get pneumonia - we know how to cure THAT!"

I had a good time at optometry today.

What?  A good time?

Yes!  My optometrist's name is Higginbotham and I've known many a Higginbotham in my day.  None of them are his relatives, but he's very familiar with all the places where I knew them.

So...go figure.

My vision has changed...I need stronger close vision and weaker long vision.  My far vision is getting better and better as I age, for some reason.
