I must hop off-line now and get some writing done. Then I'll head back down to finish ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: THE SQUEAKQUEL on Blu-ray.

A local news radio station today announced that the Arizona State Legislature overnight passed a bill that would change the school schedule to children with the last names A-L would go to school Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; M-Z would go to school Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and that the school day would be 10 hours long and that school would go year-round. Teachers would now work those 60 hours per week without additional pay. Some people were very upset.

My Maunday Thursday Joke:

It's the Last Supper, and Jesus announces to his Apostles, "My Brethren, the Roman Guard is on its way here to arrest me.  And it is because one of you has betrayed me."

Well, the Apostles are all shocked and stunned.  They all think so highly of each other that they can't comprehend of there being a traitor amongst them.  So a few begin to wonder if they had inadvertently brought about this betrayal.

Mark goes up to Jesus and he asks, "Was it I, Lord?"

And Jesus turns to Mark and says, "No, my brother, it is not you.  Your love for me is great and it shall one day be transformed into words that shall be read by uncountable numbers throughout the world."

Then Peter goes up to Jesus and asks, "Was it I, Lord?"

And Jesus turns to Peter and says, "No, Peter, it is not you.  Though you shall deny me in the coming hours, your love for me is strong and you will be the cornor stone of my church in years to come."

Then Judas goes up to Jesus and asks, "Was it I, Lord?"

And Jesus turns to Judas and says, "Oh--Was it I, Lord?  Was it I,  Looooord?"

Not to get too technical, but Mark wasn't one of the 12 disciples. Otherwise, not too bad.

Thank you Jennifer.

I forgot to respond re: your cadbury easter creme egg comment.

What is the difference between the US vs English versions. I didn't even know there was more than one kind. So I obviously have no idea which ones i've been eating.

Well, if there was, there isn't a difference, anymore...Cadbury was just purchased by Kraft Foods:

The acquisition of the 186-year-old Cadbury will make Kraft the world's biggest chocolate and confectionery producer by revenue, through the addition of brands including Dairy Milk, Creme Egg and Green & Black's.

Use to buy a lot of Green & Black's because it's organic and the flavors are intense. Hope it doesn't change.

I've never heard of Green & Black's.  What are they (he asked without bothering to look it up himself on the inner-web ;))?

None visibly.  All the Cadbury candy from the UK used to taste better than our US candy.  My guess, it is the cows.

Thursday morning greetings!  Can someone please tell me why I decided to throw a major family dinner party the night before Richard and I have to leave for Easter weekend in Lima?  Yikes, there's a lot to do, including getting our bedroom ready for my sister and her husband to occupy it for the next 3 nights.  Fortunately, we don't have to leave until early/mid afternoon.

I was very sorry to read that my church is no longer having either a Maundy Thursday service or a prayer vigil.

T.O.D.

I think my two favorite April Fool Jokes both were done on the radio.

Back in the 70s and 80s there was a disc jockey on Seattle's KOMO-Radio by the name of Larry Nelson.  Larry was an institution on Seattle radio for over 30 years.  Part of his morning show included traffic reports from the KOMO ariplane piloted by Ted Potter.  One April 1, Ted Potter broke in with a special report that Vashon Island in Puget Sound had broken free and was floating north towards Seattle.  This went on and on between Ted and Larry for about an hour.  People were actaully freaking out and started calling 911, City Hall, members of Congress, etc.  I laughed my head off at some people's stupidity, but Larry and Ted almost got fired over the whole thing.

The other radio prank started several weeks before April 1 when this "rock station" started announcing that they would be making a special announcement about the future of their station shortly after midnight on April 1.  Promptly, at midnight, the manager came on the air and annouced that the station had decided to jump on the band wagon and turn their station format into 100% disco.  Now, the problem was that this was very late in the 90s or early 21 century.  And the station proceeded to play all disco, all the time for the entire 24 hours.  It was great.

RE: last night's UGLY BETTY

Before I left for lunch, I had time to watch UGLY BETTY. As the show winds down, the writers are slowly changing the character of Betty. When the show started, she was really interested in fashion and wanted to be a part of that scene. Now, however, she's not into such surface pursuits as fashion and looks. She's more about important environmental issues. Kind of left me a little cold with her rising nicely at MODE only for us to find out that's not what she wants at all. Confusing to say the least.

Justin's story was sweet, and it was nice to see characters back who were regulars in years past. Don't like the storyline with WIllie really doing terrible physical and psychological damage to an alcoholic who needs help just to satisfy her sick dreams of power. They had been tempering her character over the last year or so, but now she's worse than ever.

Again, I don't get it, but with the show only on a couple of more weeks, I guess at this point it doesn't matter.

It's funny that you sound like you didn't like last night's show. I thought it was one of the best this season.  I absolutely loved watching them in london. And it was so great to see christina and geo (sp?).

I guess tomorrow will be a payback for those of us in the Northwest - weatherwise.  The last few weeks we have had sunshine and blue skies when most parts of the country were having rain and cold temperatures.  Tomorrow, when a lot of you will be enjoying warm weather, we are expecting a fierce wind and rain storm.

Paybacks are a bitch!

I forgot to respond re: your cadbury easter creme egg comment.

What is the difference between the US vs English versions. I didn't even know there was more than one kind. So I obviously have no idea which ones i've been eating.

DR Jennifer - Even though Cadbury(/Kraft) is a global company, the formulations for their treats are different from country to country.  The English (and Australian) Cadbury products are a lot less sweet than their American counterparts.  The non-U.S. versions also tend to rely more on real sugar than corn syrup byproducts.  Additionally, since the milk (solids) is sourced locally, that also affects the taste of the finished product.
