BK,
"A French film from France"?
::)
And the word of the day is: VULPINE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: HELLO LITTLE GIRL
Wouldn't that be more appropriate if the WOTD were "Lupine?"
Alternate choice: CAN THAT BOY FOXTROT

And my father's birthday was yesterday. Happy Birthday, Dad! Alas, I was not able to head down to Virginia to celebrate with my family, although, my mother just called to tell me that they're going out tonight with their grandchildren. Alas, I will not be able to join them tonight either. At least I know that they'll be plenty of pictures. :)
So, today we hung out in SF and hit some pastry places and had a really great time. We had dinner at a FANTASTIC German restaurant and finished up our night with a lovely plated dessert HERE What an awesome day!
In happier news, we had a very nice dinner party last night with 20 people, and the house did not seem crowded in the slightest.

So, I just got a phone call that the orientation and the first day of the residency are now on Thursday, not Wednesday. So I have an entire free day in the cold of upstate New York to do nothing. Why couldn't they have told me this sooner? I wouldn't have booked the flight, the hotel room, etc. It's a very costly little change.
But I'm grateful for a day off.

What city are you in? Is it accessible to NYC?

TOD: I could be typing movies all day. I love all of the Pagnol movies (such as "The Baker's Wife") I've seen and the ones based on his books ("Jean de Florette," "My Mother's Castle"). Godard ("Contempt," "Breathless"), Truffaut ("The 400 Blows"), Renoir ("Rules of the Game"), anything by Eric Rohmer, Cocteau ("Beauty and the Beast"), Bresson ("Au Hassard Baltassar"). My brain is getting fuzzy, but others on the list would be "Quai des Oufevres," "The Triplets of Belleville," and "8 Women."
But would that count in your book as an excellent movie? Wouldn't in mine.TOD: I could be typing movies all day. Does CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND count as a French film since Mr. Truffaut was one of the stars?
T.O.D.that Sonny was one talented person.
THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG

It's 78 degrees outside my window. And I'm worried about snow, here and in upstate New York, over the next few days.
John will you be taking a laptop to New York?I'm planning on it. All my school work is on it.
Are you sure that's all that got planted in your brain?
Hope you're feeling better, DR TCB!
George, SEA MARKS was written by the late Gardner McKay. He used to be on one my favorite TV shows when I was a kid, called ADVENTURES IN PARADISE. Before your time, but I have a sneaking hunch that MBarnum would know his name.
For anyone who watches HUMAN TARGET. It is on this week tonight AND wednesday.
I did not go to work today. I had another night of violent stomach problems. And if you have ever seen a stomach get violent, you know how scary that can be.

This is what Jim Castillo, the World's Sexiest Weatherman, said about the coming storm:
"a very bad winter storm for Kansas City, St. Louis & Chicago Monday thru Wednesday with ice, snow, wind & bitter cold! I talked with many relatives, they are salting the driveways & getting non perishable foods in case the power goes out. It's going to be big."
Here's a story that just aired on local news about George Clooney's Dad, Rosemary's Brother (http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/entertainment/nick-clooney%3Ateasing%2C-humor-and-home-keep-us-grounded)Thanks for that. Always enjoyed Nick when I lived in Cincinnati and Middletown.
DR John G - sorry about the upset to your travel plans.I'm sorta not. Sorta.

Yes, Jim Castillo (http://www.jimcastillo.com/) is very sexy. ;)
Am going to try to leave on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. I could use another day.
It's snowing like crazy. We had freezing rain for a little while this morning, but not too bad. About 3:00 I looked out and it was snowing a little more and I figured the storm was moving in. So I packed up my work, told Edith we should leave. She said "My husband wishes he had a boss like you" lol. He teases her by saying any time the weather is bad she'll get to stay home. I figure it's better to be safe than sorry and I bring work home, so it's not a big deal. She has the phone numbers for all our appointments tomorrow and if we have to close, I'll have her call everyone. I'm not convinced we'll be closed, but am pretty sure we may be late. The wind is bad and we may get 7 inches of snow.
I hope you get to feeling better very soon, TCB.
Awwwwwwwwwwww! Feel Better, DR TCB!
Oh, dear. The City Yard Police Lady just came by. I know she cited the people across the street. I hope she did not cite me as well. I have a frost-damaged shrub and some landscape rock still in my driveway.
I got cited when my neighbor dumped a huge pile of dirt behind my fence.

There are 3 lanes for swimming: fast, medium and slow. I always like to go to the medium lane so i don't have to kill myself to keep u with the 20 year old guys who swim really fast.
But there are some people in swim in the medium lane who are very slow. And normally they drive me insane (which is why i usually end up in the fast lane).
The thing that bugs me more than them being slow is that they have no perception that they are slowing others down. If I was the slowest I would go to the back of the line, not try to go in front of people.
It's like -100 here. Must be too cold to snow! Brrrr it was really cold out today.
Feel better vibes for DR TCB. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You guys are rubbing off on our Tacoma weather. It is going to get down to freezing tonight!
A little weatherbug tells me WE are going to have a freeze this week. In February. That's spring out here!
Get you candles and flashlights out. Get your warm blankets out. Charge up your cell phone and anything else that needs charging to last.
If it's cold enough outside, and I don't remember the temp, you can take a pitcher of boiling hot water out and throw it in the air and it will turn into snow before it hits the ground.

I am finding it very hard to discuss THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE without posting any spoilers. Spoiler spaces do not work in reviews. :)
You all are supposed to make fun of me for thinking that 40 degrees is really cold.
