Hey! I have a great idea for the Bye-Bye-Birdie revival! Have the cast play the instruments and tote them all over the stage!

LOL!!   My, you ARE fluttery today!

The very cool temperatures have continued, and it's been a nice change. Of course, some people are still roaming around in tee shirts and shorts like it was still 90 outside. I would have been so uncomfortable dressed like that today. Jeans and a sweater felt very good indeed.

Best Laid Plans Department - Volume 2.

I had planned on beginning work on the GUNSMOKE DVD set today, but when I got in from lunch, there was the Blu-ray of NEW IN TOWN (renee Zellweger/Harry Connick Jr.) waiting for me, so it got priority treatment.

I did spend most of the afternoon with this romantic comedy. It died at the box-office, and it's easy to see why. There's not really an original moment in the film. Very by-the-numbers romantic comedy, and sadly, Renee and Harry don't have much romantic chemistry to warm up the movie (set in Minnesota, filmed in Winnipeg). Everyone does his best, but the expected comedy pratfalls in the snow, food fights with tapioca, etc. Just not very funny.

I got through three of the bonus features. There's a picture-in-picture audio/video commentary with J.K. Simmons and a couple of the writers and the actress who plays Marge (I'll have to look up her name once I start writing the review).

The "making of" documentary is mainly about how cold it was in Winnipeg during the shoot (57 below zero) and what troupers everyone was (especially Renee who had to wear designer clothes through some of the coldest scenes).

And, of course, since it plays such an important role in the movie, there is a featurette on tapioca.

Looks like I still have a couple of other featurettes and some deleted scenes, and then I'll be finished with it.

Didn't have a chance to catch up with any of the TV I recorded last night (TUDORS, LAW & ORDER: CI), but hopefully will get to some of these later this evening before prime time TV on the DVR begins around 9:30.

So "New in Town" got old pretty fast!

I remember Harry's outing with Sandra Bullock in "Hope Floats", which sank like a rock.

That wasn't Harry's fault, either.

Put out some unshelled penauts which sure got attention:

First on the scene:

I've got to do some writing, so I'm hopping off-line now and beginning on that. Then I'll be back downstairs to finish up the bonus features on NEW IN TOWN and try to get some of last night's TV shows watched before settling in with tonight's '24' and the wrap-up of last week's MEDIUM continuing story.

Is this the chin you want?

I can if you provide the cleaver.

A cleaver?  At this point, I'll take a Barbara Billingsley chin, if that's all that's available.

New-mown hay gives me hay fever
There's the rooster, where's my cleaver
So laid back, my mind's on crack
And when the thresher's up
My pressure's up

With Liza's new way of pronouncing "City" that song could be a laff-riot.
