Well, you've read the notes, the notes were like a home-cooked meal, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently eating some chicken cord on blue which is not sitting to well with the chickens, who'd like to be eating some steak cord on blue.

And the word of the day is: LEGATO!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all.

Got a wake-up call from Mom wondering if I had been affected by the tornadoes that she had read about. I didn't know we had had tornadoes until I read a story that they had touched down around 50 miles south of town. But I guess that's still San Antonio to the rest of the world.

Wednesday is a Zumba day.
Thanks again to all for the birthday wishes for my Dad yesterday!! Most appreciated.
Continued trial vibes for DR CILLA LIZ.
And healthy vibes for the mother of DR DtM and DR DANISH.

DR DANISE - do you have any type of Media software on your computer? You may be able to copy the disks yourself.....

good day to all

Listened to Two for the Seesaw yesterday.
Mega vibes for Wednesday.

A great big THANKS to y'all for the vibes for my Mom because it looks like they worked! They did the ablation procedure yesterday afternoon and when they brought Mom back up to her room and hooked her back to the monitor, she displayed a continuous and STEADY heartbeat of 80 and her blood pressure was at a likewise normal and steady level. It was a wonderful sight to behold! She still has a touch of pnumonia to deal with but the pulmonary doctor said that it didn't look too threatening and can be handled with antibiotics.
I've gone back to work this morning for the first time in two weeks--I just felt I needed a touch of normalcy for myself
Again, thank you all for the vibes!

Good morning, all! I slept late, until around 7:45, but I've been tied up with DEAREST ENEMY emails since then. Casting goes well, but I had some concerns about a few singers I don't know. No one besides Kim is set, but the availability inquiries are producing good feedback.
This morning, i see my accountant and pick up my finished taxes, play with my bank accunts and pay them what I can. I will stop by Toyland and check out the place before I head back uptown.
DR Danise. don't worry or express any guilt about the costs on the repairs; they're not your concern. You are now an advertisement for these vendors and they spend biliions on advertising. Just take care of your health and relax. You won, baby!
DR Dan(theMan), great news about your mum! Fantastic.
Okay, I'm outa here .

And the word of the day is: LEGATO!
And The Song Of The Day Is: A QUIET THING
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Well, the cold snap in on its way, because last night Richard finished swapping the storm windows for screens and installed our whole-house fan. But for the next couple of days we have early summer type weather to enjoy. I may be going to Columbus later today with one of my young AAUW friends for a book signing by Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman (http://thepioneerwoman.com).
-
And the word of the day is: LEGATO!
And The Song Of The Day Is: A QUIET THING
One of my all-time favorites!

Off to ZUMBA.
I hope to return.

Good news DR Dan the man!

Good thing you don't really need your pinkie to ride a bike. I just sort of kept it off the handles. Otherwise it hurt.

And The Song Of The Day Is: A QUIET THING
One of my all-time favorites!
Mine, too.
I'm having a brain fade, but I know I did an arrangement of A QUIET THING in a medley with maybe IS IT REALLY ME? from 110 in the Shade for Tina Paradiso, Michelle Ni Castro's co-star in the LES MIS tour and the lady I introduced BK to when he was up here the last time.
-
It may have been SIMPLE LITTLE THINGS, I just can't remember.
-
I biked only half way round the lake. I just wanted to see what the paths would be like. They were still a bit too wet for me. So i guess i will try to find some other bike paths to use today.
It was nice being out on my bike for the first time after the winter. IT's weird because from march-nov for 8 months i exercise usually 6 days a week. But for the winter i do almost nothing. I hate indoor exercising.
-
I always loved the game GUESS WHO when i was a kid. You mean the game where you flip over the people, right?
Now my niece has a version of it. One side has people the other side has animals. So you can do either one. It's sort of fun. But it's definitely better when two equal people play. I keep trying to teach her what kinds of questions to ask to get the most answers.

hello, goodbye

Today, I'm off to the Religious Education Congress in Anaheim. I only have half of my ears in tact. This cold has settled in my right ear and it seems like I can hear only in mono. I stayed home from work today because I can't hear anything if I'm talking. Choir rehearsal was a challenge because I could only hear the piano as the choir was on my right. I'm hoping I can clear this up before my flight as I'm not looking forward to the pressure and the sudden pain that may occur when my ear decides to clear up.
-
Greetings from Toyland! I've picked up my taxes and paid for everything. The office is still in one piece, and I'm heading uptown. DEARST ENEMY and ROBERTA are waiting for me there. I also need to call my doctor about a physical exam and the Toyland building management about an office. Keep those office vibes coming! I'm being evicted from Toyland very soon.

Vibes for Matthew, Elmore, Cillaliz and ..., well, everybody. Sounds like a vibe-needed day.

New images of sunken Titanic released
(http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/slideshow/2012/03/21/sunken-titanic-full-map-released-for-first-time/#slide=5#ixzz1plml4d6F)
New images from the April 2012 edition of National Geographic magazine show the complete wreck of the Titanic for the first time ever. The luxury passenger liner sank about 375 miles south of Newfoundland, Canada, after striking an iceberg on its maiden voyage from England to New York, killing 1,517 people.

The bow of the Titanic rests on the bottom of the North Atlantic, about 400 miles southeast of Newfoundland. A team of scientists will launch an expedition to the Titanic on Aug. 18, 2010, to assess the deteriorating condition of the world's most famous shipwreck.

This August 2010 photo provided by RMS Titanic Inc., shows Captain Smiths Bathtub aboard the sunken ship. The plumbing allowed the Captain a choice of salt or fresh water, hot or cold. Scientists were in court in Norfolk Va. revealing never-before-seen images of the Titanic and the ocean bottom where the violently strewn remnants of the world's most famous shipwreck rest nearly a century after it sank on its maiden voyage.

I am home. I have a couple of calls to make, and then I think I will cook up a large pot of spaghetti sauce and freeze most of it.

I'm continually in awe about the whole Titanic disaster. I love the James Cameron movie, especially when the ship hits the iceberg, I think it's amazing what they were able to accomplish cinematically with that event. I do like the musical for what it is, which I know isn't much.

My bathroom is almost as messy as that middle photo.

Sorry for being so E&T. It couldn't be helped and I must catch up, but just wanted to drop in and say all is OK.

Not that there was anything wrong.

Hi, FJL.
-
I've been up since nine and doing a few things. The pool man is here and trying to figure out why the pump isn't working - it's either a small part that has to be replaced or the pump motor - either way, I've asked him to do it.
-
It's the pump motor and it will be replaced tomorrow.
-
Going to purchase the kindle version of "There's Mel.." and "Rewind" to read on my weekend away. I remembering really liking "Rewind" enough to read again. (same with "There's Mel...")

Hi, FJL.
Hi, John G. Hope you're progressing well health-wise.
When did you get in spitting distance of 9000?

I'm fighting a cold, that combined with the Benadryl I took last night, I'm rather groggy today.

Hi, FJL.
Hi, John G. Hope you're progressing well health-wise.
When did you get in spitting distance of 9000?
I am doing quite well, thank you. All recuperated and up to snuff (though I don't actually dip snuff).
And I dunno on the 9,000 thing. Guess I've just been blathering again.

Well, I did call them when the tornadoes ripped through southern Indiana and they spent a few hours in the basement. So, I guess it was a nice way of returning the concern.

We need to get to page three.

Calls are good. I just know sometimes we worry, thanks to the news, unnecessarily. When it is necessary we can't always get through on the phone to find out if all is ok.
After the last BIG earthquake in L.A. we were lucky a neighbor suggested my mother in-law give us a call, before we even heard it on the news. I then called my father & knew all was ok in West L.A. After calling him I couldn't reach anyone else. One friend called me collect & the other called Keith's office 800 number. Neither of them could call us directly & it took a couple of days before we had news.
It was the same after 911. The way Bryan found out if his friend's were ok was by calling their parents who lived out of the city. I thought it was sweet the first calls all went to the parents.

The photos today are very interesting.

And the word of the day is: LEGATO!
And The Song Of The Day Is: A QUIET THING
One of my all-time favorites!
Mine, too.
Mine, three! I used to take a workshop with this incredible jazz piano player in town (Joe Baque...he was in his 80s at the time) and I had the idea to do "When I Fall in Love" and pair it with "A Quiet Thing." Joe (the piano player) loved the idea and we worked on it a couple of times, but I never got the chance to perform it. Joe is probably in his 90s now and still playing strong!
-
Song of the day: I love Brent Barrett's rendition of the song.
-
I just heard my two favorite words....NOT GUILTY!!!! Woo and Hoo. My client cried, his mother cried, his roommate almost cried. The jury saw the reaction and looked very pleased that they had acquitted him.

Congrats. Cilla.

Great news, Cillaliz! If I ever need a criminal defense lawyer, I'd want you on my side!

Good news, DR Cillaliz!
Can we ask the details of the trial or is that unethical?

DR Jane: re: those high heel sneakers that DR Der Brucer posted yesterday. Although those are an extreme. I have a pair that is a similar idea to that. They look like sneakers. But are raised just like the ones in the picture (but not as high). And i have to say i love them. Being only 5'4 it really makes a difference. And they are so comfortable. The only heels i usually wear are wedges. But these sneaker ones are fantastic.

About Santorum? I didn't know such an anti-intellectual plle of merde, bigotry and stupidity could have gotten so far. It terrifies me a lot that someone so loathsome has supporters.

My spaghetti sauce is quite tasty.
-
Is that a euphemism?
It reminds me of a character in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" -- The Lady Chablis is always trying to entice a character with her "candy." I can just hear her saying, "My candy is quite tasty."

I love euphemisms. When I understand them. ;)

Today's PR Laugh o'the Day:
Fox just sent out a press release about a new 10 disc Frank Sinatra collection which includes THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, followed by this wonderful description: "Perfectly timed for Mother's Day. . " :)
-
On my way to meet friends for a drink, I came across a young couple who were arguing and the young man began to slap and hit the girl around the face and shoved her on the ground. I intervened and told him to stop hitting her. He didn't respond and although the girl was crying she didn't request further help so I didn't see what else I could to help. I felt a bit guilty walking on but there were other people around so i didn't think she was in serious danger.

I've seen cute sneakers that aren't so high. :) I'm shorter than you are & shrinking so I appreciate wanting extra height. I rarely wear heals of any kind.

How upsetting. DS Craig was in Barnes & Noble years ago & protected a woman from her husband. The guy pulled a knife out. The store must of called the police. He would have needed to testify except he left for the Peace Corps a few days later.
-
Thanks everyone. Elmore I can talk about it. I could have talked sooner, but I don't like to put anything out on the internet until it's over. It was a total crock of poop. My client was goofing around after a night out having a few drinks with friends. He was a college senior and it was the last weekend of college. He and a buddy were goofing around in the dorm. He lit a door decoration (piece of paper on the door) on fire and his buddy put it out. they went into the shower room and he lit a piece of paper on fire and dropped it into the garbage can and they put it out.
They were laughing and giggling like drunken college students because they were drunken college students. Anyway, he went into the bathroom, found a girl in the guys bathroom. That was really funny to all of them. she made her exit. He used the facilities then saw the toliet paper hanging down from the dispenser. he lit it with the lighter and no surprise it burned up wards. His buddy kicked the dispenser off the wall and they thought they had it out. They went to bed and woke up to fire alarms and smoke. Somehow it wasn't out and the dispenser was burning. It destroyed the dispenser, melted the toilet seat and sent tons of really thick smoke into the halls. No one got hurt and the "fire" was out about the time the fire men got there.
For this he was charged with Arson in the first degree. If convicted he would have had a mandatory 25 year prison sentence and since he's a permanent resident from Bosnia, he would have been deported. The jury had two other options that they could have convicted him on, second degree arson or reckless use of fire. If he got the reckless or not guilty he was fine. The second degree he could have gotten probation, but he would have been deported. The offer was second degree. The jury said not guilty.
My client is a really great kid. He got his bachelors in Business Administration and Marketing. He'd never been in trouble before. He's just a really cool guy. His mother doesn't speak much English, but she and his brother were there. He came to the US and played basketball for one of the local powerhouse high school basketball teams and got an academic and sports scholarship to college. Both the high school coaches and the college coaches came to the trial yesterday to show support. The support his friends and family showed was fabulous and that really makes an impression on the jury.
Today I gave a 22 year old his life back. It was a nice day :)
-
Sherlock has his dental work tomorrow. We took him for a short hike today & luckily it warmed up before we left the house.
-
I also spent two days feeling like a really small person. These basketball people are very tall!!! Today I waited around at the courthouse with the family and friends. Turns out one of my client's best friends plays on our local professional indoor football team. I've always thought about going to one of their games but haven't done it. I may have to go now. I have someone to cheer for
-
Funny Cilla.
When I was in high school I accidentally set the trash can on fire. I don't think I ever ran so fast in my life. Fortunately no one saw me as they were focused on the flames reaching up to the tree branches above the fire. All was well & when I returned everyone started telling me about the fire. I never said a word.
-
I repeatedly made the point that smart people do stupid things and college students do really stupid things. This was a total over reaction by the local fire chief who insisted on Arson in the first and by the asst county attorney who is totally unreasonable, especially for immigrants
-
It's a BS story, but when you look at what the state had to prove, it was scary. The jury could have gone the other way if they had a different attitude about my client.
-
DR Jane smart to keep your mouth shut. Even a fish wouldn't get into trouble if he kept his mouth shut
-
It sounds like a major over reaction. I hope he wasn't also kicked out of school.
-
DR Jane smart to keep your mouth shut. Even a fish wouldn't get into trouble if he kept his mouth shut
They were my friends too. I did run over to one friend telling him what I did. He couldn't stop laughing at how stupid I was.
-
they let him finish his finals but did not let him participate in the graduation ceremony. He really felt bad about that

Keith doesn't let me play with fire. When we had a wood burning stove I never used it unless he was home. I really am lucky nothing serious ever happened. The worst I've done was singed the front of my hair.
-
The really weird thing is as I was sitting in my chair prepping for the trial the other night. Two of my smoke detectors in the house started going off like they do when the batteries are dying. I changed them and all is well, but it was really strange timing.
-
I never noticed before that the top of the box from Sit & Stay, a dog supply/food place says

I bet. At least he graduated, presuming he passed his finals.
-
they let him finish his finals but did not let him participate in the graduation ceremony. He really felt bad about that
That is too bad that he was not allowed to participate. Sounds like a very interesting case. I am curious why he was found not guilty vs reckless use of fire?Did they just think the whole idea of charging a college kid with arson ridiculous?

I am just glad that they worked once again.

http://travsd.wordpress.com/2012/03/21/ziegfelds-midnight-frolic/
I was never crazy about Eddie Cantor, even in white face. I remember on TV in the early 50s there were some cartoons that had characters in blackface. Eddie Cantor for one. There were a lot of cartoons that had movie stars as characters in the cartoon. I remeber Clark Gable (because of the ears) and Martha Raye (because of the mouth). And was it BABES IN ARMS or BABES ON BROADWAY that had Mickey Rooney doing a number in blackface? He was probably getting into character for BREAKFAST AT TIFFANYS.

Hi from SFO. Chewing gum like crazy trying to unblock this ear. The gum isn't giving much resistance.

How upsetting. DS Craig was in Barnes & Noble years ago & protected a woman from her husband. The guy pulled a knife out. The store must of called the police. He would have needed to testify except he left for the Peace Corps a few days later.
I hope it was Craig that joined the Peace Corps and not the guy with the knife.

The local weatherman just said that we may have more rain / snow mix tomorrow morning.
A rain/show mix?? Is someone doing "Singing In the Rain"?
;)
I have no idea what you are talking about, George!

I'm so happy for you! :) Give your Mom a hug and a kiss.

DR DANISE - do you have any type of Media software on your computer? You may be able to copy the disks yourself.....
Please don't...I already made the copies. :D
Thank you DR George! I do need to find out if I can make copies--just in case I need more. I've had a lot of people ask if I have a copy of the show to loan them but I know sometimes the loan doesn't make it back.

Lovely photos, DerB!
We're getting lighting now and the dogs are scared. Mostly Sheena who hates storms.

So happy you won the case, DR Cilla!!!! Go you!!!!!

Still no phone, DR TCB? I'm starting to get nervous. I'm going to go check and see it I can track that package.

Hi Danise! Nope, no phone yet. Tomorrow I have to be gone for several hours, so I hope they don't try to deliver while I am gone.

Neither do I, or I'm in denial.

I should say that it depends on who is doing the delivery. I have an indoor hallway for my apartment, and my apartment door is actually hidden from the hallway. Some deliverymen persons will leave it at the door, no matter what it might be. Other delivery persons make me sign for the damn thing no matter how unimportant it might be.

My passport was thrown down on my welcome mat, but a music CD required my signature.

Dang, I can't find the receipt. I changed purses because of going to the ten fest but it isn't in either one. I'll keep looking.

Don't worry about it yet, Danise. I figured tomorrow or Friday.

I have shared the moment from a couple of Christmases ago when I was with the kids at Fred Meyer and drove a cart right into a huge pyramid display of watches, which of course all went tumbling down and scattering across the floor. Zach leaned into me and whispered intently, "Walk away from the crime scene. . .walk away from the crime scene." ;D

they let him finish his finals but did not let him participate in the graduation ceremony. He really felt bad about that
I bet. At least he graduated, presuming he passed his finals.
Yes. He passed his finals. He had As and Bs

Jennifer, based on the jury instructions, recklessness is a little more than what you'd normally think

Ok, I'm very tired. Haven't slept much the last two nights. I tend to do my best work late at night and get up very early to be in court early. There is nothing on the calendar tomorrow. I am going to turn off the alarm and get up when I wake up

Night!

Watching "It's Always Fair Weather" for what is probably the first time in 40 years and the first time in wide screen. On TV, they used to either elongate the dancers, making Dan Dailey even taller and skinnier or they cut Michael Kidd and him off, making it seem as if Gene Kelly were in the movie by himself.

Night, all.

Back from all my stuff. Had an early lunch, picked up packages, watched episodes, taped a two-part radio show, and finished episodes. Tired now.
