This is really crummy of United.  Beginning Dec. 31st accounts that have not earned or redeemed miles for the previous 18 months will be deemed inactive.

Jane - check the fine print!

American and AmericaWest are doing the same thing - but there are ways of keeping the account active without flying.

Both airlines, for example, let you accumulate miles by using a pre-registered credit card at a participating restaurant - one meal protects all your miles for a year! You can also get miles by shopping from their on-line catalogues.

Yes, Stephen Nathan is in You Light Up My Life.

In more amusing news, Roller Derby, the NYMF show with a$100,000 budget (per Equity rules, shows are not allowed to spend more than 15K on the physical production - yeah, right) has changed theaters for what I think is the third time.  I think they were originally in the Julia Miles, then ours, then St. Clemons, now the Alley.  Apparently St. Clemons wasn't big enough as they have to roller skate.  Earth to Roller Derby: THIS IS A NYMF SHOW - if your show can't fit the constraints, then don't do the show, it's that simple.  People with endless money - I gotta tell you.  We've had to figure out creative ways to get around all the constraints and so have other shows (some of whom hire big crews to load their sets onto trucks to store them between shows) - NYMF really started out as a showcase for new musicals and it really has turned into something else, thanks to those productions who abuse the Equity rules and flaunt their money like cabbage rolls.

DB I don't want another credit card.  We did have a United credit card but it had a high charge of $60 a year so we dropped it.

I see we can give miles to another member.  I wonder if that will keep their account open longer, I don't see anything about that.

Since I flew United to Pittsburgh I'm ok.  Keith has far more miles to protect than I do, maybe he can give the miles to me.  I bet they charge for that too.

Maybe next year, with some creative accounting (calling FJL), we could do "Ben Hur - The Musical", or if the money if tight, "Quo Vadis - the Musical" -Come for the fire, stay for the lions!

DB I don't want another credit card.

You can register any existing VISA/Master Card (even a debit card) and use it!

Its IMDB rating is lower than Attack of the 50 Foot Woman! (and a 20% on Rotten Tomatoes!)

What did you expect?

LOL-There aren't any restaurants listed in Ashland.

I checked out Portland & only recognize a couple, including Berger King, where we won't be eating.

I saved the info & will pass it along to Bryan & Craig, thanks.

We are thinking of going to a movie.  Has anyone seen anything good, besides Harry Potter,  in the last month or two?  Nothing really appeals to me.

I'm putting it to good use - our last meal in Philly put my UA/AW account over 60,000 - so 2 free tickets to anywhere US/Canda/Mexico/Central America.

My AA account needs one more meal to put me over 80,000 for two free tickets to Europe - probably Naples.

Which reminds- best get to work on getting new passports - it now takes months!

Is Medford too far?

They have Ratatouille (great fun if you don't mind animation) and Hairspray, which should also be good clean fun.

Keith said he doesn't want to see Ratatouille.  You aren't the first to recommend it.  I will tell him to read the reviews.  Is this Hairspray better than the original?

Is that aka La Môme?  Not that it matters, neither is playing here.

DB, sorry I didn't respond to your question, and after you looked up our local movies.:)  The Medford theater has stadium seating but Keith prefers to stay in town.  We do go for the big films, like Harry Potter, LOTR, etc.  I think Stardust is the sort of film I would prefer to see there.  WAR, which is also playing in Medford would be more enjoyable on the big screen with the big sound.

We haven't seen it yet. Remember, this is a film based on the Broadway Musical based on the original film.

ROTTENTOMATOES gives it a 93% (Stardust only a 74)

"Chuck and Larry" is a total rip off an OZ film "Strange Bedfellows". Only an OK film (an unconvincing Paul Hogan) that did not sit well with the critics or public here.  Interesting for us as we know the town and a couple of the guys used as extras.

I think Chuck and Larry was a bomb here!

We watched "The Prestige" last night.  I'm not too sure about it. At least I've been thinking about it a lot. That's a good thing.

We were pleasantly surprised to see Jet Li had come out of retirement to make another film.  I'm disappointed he chose this one to do.  I'm sure we will watch it at some point even if it isn't good.
