I've been relaxing and watching the Jack Benny specials.  Lucille Ball is in a lot of them, and in one she sings and dances Big Spender.  It's astonishing.  Astonishing because it ISN'T HER SINGING!  Did they really get away with it?  As soon as I heard the voice I knew who it was - no one would have back then, but it was instantly obvious it was Miss Carole Cook.  Hilarious.

As for the Topic of the Day...

During the "hey day" of the Sondheim listerv, the mid- to late-90's, I happened to make a lot of connections and a few friends via that "board". Whenever I would play for one of the Sondheim shows at Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA, I would regularly meet a few of my fellow listservers during the course of the run. They would make the "pilgrimage".

I am very much enjoying SMASH. I've laughed several times.

Watched SMASH. Enjoyed it except for the "Personal soap operas" aspects, but I guess it's necessary to balance out the "musical soap opera" which I enjoyed.

Are the song writers based on Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens? (Ragtime, Lucky Stiff, Once On This Island, Anastasia, A Man Of No Imprtance & My Favorite Year)

I really enjoyed Smash.
The songwriting team is based on Betty Comden and Adolph Green.

DR Jane--I can't remember where I stayed when I visited Moorea--it was 25 years ago!
But I can still vividly recall the beauty of the island and the great French cuisine.

I wish I could say I had any kind of interest in Smash, but I don't.
