Well, you've read the notes, the notes were jolly and merry, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently kissing someone under the MOOstletoe.
-
And the word of the day is: FLETCHERIZE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
I can't sleep all day today because I have to get my body back on some kind of normal sleep schedule. It's 3:50 am. I slept off and on all day yesterday and went to bed for good around 6:45pm. Gotta stop that.
-
Bye for now.
-
OMG I just watched/listened to Henrietta!!!
-
Morning, all.
-
Off to play bells this morning in our annual Festival of Lessons and Carols. Should be fun.
-
Have fun DR JOHN G.
-
DR JOSE - Henrietta & Merna should be a holiday tradition in every home.
I wonder if they know California Girls by Katy Perry?
-
Marlene Dietrich & Bruce Kimmel.....together again....for the first time.
-
Bad weather predicted here for later in the day....we shall see.
-
Must be some television special.....but still SO ENTERTAINING.....slightly different arrangement.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qsEY9xw_D8&feature=grec_index
-
Thanks from yesterday, JohnG.
And Jrand, whatever I owed you before, I now owe you yet one more.
-
The word FLETCHERIZE - is that like she's got Jessie Fletcher eyes?
-
Hope you'll be feeling 100% better soon, Ben!
-
DR elmore--just saw your post about Brent's Christmas show. Yes, I knew about it but am not sure I'll be able to go. Will you be there? Anyone else?
-
Good morning, all! The cold that has been flirting with my immune system for the past four weeks has landed; my throat is raw, my head is filled with gunk, and I cannot stop coughing. To make thngs worse, I really do not wish to go out into the rain today, and I have a date wth Jo Loesser to see the 2:30 performance of the opera SUMMER AND SMOKE at Manhattan School of Music. I may call Ron Raines in another hour and see if he would like to take Jo to the performance; I don't want to pass this on to her, and tomorrow I am supposed to go into the Loesser office and begin more work on MOST HAPPY FELLA. Oy.
DR KevinH, right now I am so strapped for cash I can only get to the corner and back, although I would like to see the show on the 21st. I guess it all depends on how soon I'm paid for the McGlinnventory work - my last invoice payment is now about a week late and I'm sending out the next invoice on Wednesday. This is a bad month because I have health insurance, estimated state tax payment, rent, and holiday gifts. I am rather stressed at the moment!
-
DR KevinH, thank you for your kind PM. You are a good fellow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Successful Weekend Vibes for Everyone! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Stress relief for DR ELMORE.
-
And the word of the day is: FLETCHERIZE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: FOOD,GLORIOUS FOOD
-
I called Jo and canceled our date. She said that I was her second casualty for the weekend and her date for THE PITMEN PAINTERS was sick yesterday. Mr Ron Raines, spouse of the opera's director Dona D Vaughn, will see Jo is comfortable for me. I also canceled all my appointments for tomorrow to get over this crap.
I've been looking at cats and kittens on the NYC Humane Society website. Here's 4-month old Marvin:
Steve Suskin gives another shout out to Kritzerland Records for Promises as a Christmas gift.
Promises, Promises (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/145762-ON-THE-RECORD-Holiday-Gift-List-of-2010-From-Scottsboro-Boys-to-Seussical-and-Beyond/pg2)
-
Marvin looks like Spats!
I know, but I think spats is still more adorable. I checked all of Marvin's headshots. I'm also checking out Petfinder; some of the stories are shocking and horrible. I thought things like "The Great Cat Massacre" went out in the 18th Century!
Of course, DR Laura can attest otherwise and I'm certain she's heard far too many horror stories.
-
I believe I have played auditions for both Henrietta and Merna.
-
And I think that Turkey Lurkey has the woman I talked about last year--she teaches dance in Beaverton now. Her student dance group did a Rave in the Nave last season.
-
Is that the Ed Sullivan version? Don't have time to look for it right now.
-
3-month old Sal is quite adorable, too!
-
Sunday morning greetings! As you may have guessed, we did not go to Lima today. When my alarm went off at 5:30, Richard discovered that last night's rain had frozen and our driveway was solid ice. He told me to go back to sleep and he'd get up at 7 and call the church's senior warden. When he did that, it had snowed on top of the ice, both here and in Lima, so the deal was sealed. There's kind of a lull in the weather at the moment, but the predictions are for substantial snow later today into tomorrow. Is it spring yet?
-
Thank you to DRs Sam and Jose for last night's birthday wishes!
-
DR TCB, I don't regard DR MBarnum as a pet so much as a "Ma, he followed me home!" That's why he has to sleep outside on the fire escape until he agrees to the sheep dip.
-
Feel better vibes to DR Elmore - you've made the right decision to stay in for a couple of days!
-
The SC Journal had a nice interview/article about Baayork Lee today. Bruce generally does a nice job of doing real interviews and not just using the press pack A Chorus Line will be here tomorrow night http://www.siouxcityjournal.com/lifestyles/local/article_fa73abd7-2895-540c-a7dc-fc2462437f83.html (http://www.siouxcityjournal.com/lifestyles/local/article_fa73abd7-2895-540c-a7dc-fc2462437f83.html)
I'm pleased to see you are seriously looking for a cat. They are such great company. I would suggest going to the shelter or adoption center and playing with the cat before adoption. Some cats are much more affectionate, some don't really want to be held etc. You can't really tell that from the internet.
This last time, I had my mind made up about the cat I wanted to adopt but when I met the cat, there was no connection what-so-ever. I kept looking and Ricky captured my heart. He hadn't been there long enough to be online yet. He was past the cute kitten stage, so his chances of being adopted were less that a kitty. I posted the other cat on my facebook and don't know if that helped, but she was adopted within a day or so.
-
That last post was for DR ELMORE
-
It is 0 degrees outside. Yup no degrees at all. The windchill is -20.
-
Good grief, Paul just called and wondered if I'd dug out enough to meet him for coffee. Hello, it's 0 degrees, -20 windchill and you want me to dig out to meet for coffee. Thank you no, I'll stay home and drink my own coffee until it warms up to that high 7 before I start digging out.
I'm window shopping. Part of the complication I'm having is that for a lot of the young cats the caretaker is asking for a cat to be apodted into a cat household or for you to adopt two cats, Right now, with my current cash flow hell, I cannot really afford to take one, much less two! I am having fun looking and I think something will happen with one or two cats in the near future.
What's frustrating is that often cats in a famly are not on the same page: I looked at an adorable Siamese mix named Berrie, whom the caretakers would like to see adopted with his sibling Blondie. Okay, where the hell is Blondie?
-
That last post was for DR ELMORE
I was pretty certain it wasn't for me ;)
-
Window shopping is good, DR Elmore. Don't forget to look at the cats that are a little older. They are the ones that have a hard time finding a forever home.
-
DR Cillaliz - wise choice not to go out today.
In addition to missing church, we're also not going to the public open house at Miami Valley Hospital's new heart tower, which was quite the topic of discussion when I was in that hospital in August. Biggest improvement, IMHO, is that all patient rooms are now private. I was looking forward to seeing the new facility, but I'm not eager to return there as a patient.
-
I'm also looking at young cats up to little over a year old. It isn't that I would mind having an older animal, I'm too set in my ways to want a cat als set in his or hers!
I just got home from breakfast with Santa. If you can call it breakfast. And is it breakfast with Santa if Santa isn't there?
It was quite bizarre. We got there at 9am and the lady in charge was actually quite organized. She had name tags for the kids and there was a list of the winners.
But then the breakfast part was not pre-organized. They brought a grocery cart in (from the grocery store in the same mall) and there were clementines, muffins, cheese, yogurt. But the woman had to leave and plate them. So that took around 30 minutes.
Mrs. Claus arrived for pictures so that was good. But there was supposed to be entertainment. I guess if you call Mrs. Claus reading a book after breakfast entertainment, then there was some.
I think I would have had the mall Christmas train running, had a better breakfast. And had some coffee and muffins for the parents.
Another thing that bugged me is Mrs Claus did everything in french instead of in French and English. There were a few older bossy kids who were french so I guess they went with that.
Santa arrived at 10:15am but unfortunately the storm outside had started. So we had to get ready to leave.
The Santa part was nice but I would have had him arrive at 9:15am (since it was breakfast with Santa).
The surprise part was they had Santa give a present for each kid who won. And these were actually nicer than I was expecting. There was a reusable bag from the mall and a glass from the mall (good for the parents). And my niece's had a dora 48 piece puzzle, and little Dora backpack that she gave to her baby sister. And a christmas coloring book. But it was all nicely wrapped in the bag.
My niece thinks she had a good time even though we had to rush out at the end to miss the storm. I think the woman doing it just didn't know how to do it better. She probably doesn't have kids. She did seem nice though.
-
six-month old Mark is a cutey. I guess I'm particularly interested in short haired cats.
-
I'm also aware that by the time I get my act together all of these animals may be taken!
-
Jennifer - is it likely there would have been more time with Santa if not for the storm?
-
six-month old Mark is a cutey. I guess I'm particularly interested in short haired cats.
I vote for Mark.
Both services went well. One of the pieces was "Carol of the Bells" in a simplified version. We've played this maybe three or four times over the past 10 years and with many of the same players. But for some reason, this year, the piece was a headache. We never got it right and rehearsed it over and over again. Today, during both services, we nailed it. That was a big relief.
Good read.
I'm up, and it looks like quite a pretty day.
-
I'm getting a barrage of text messages from my dining and show companion last night - apparently she felt "humiliated" because at one point this singer asked me if I was married to the pretty lady I was with - I said no. She asked if we'd soon be married - I said, I don't think so. Apparently this was humiliating. I just said sorry, but sometimes my brain doesn't think fast enough to come up with the witty aside when I'm dragged on the stage (when I don't want to be) and asked questions like that. In hindsight, I should have said "I plead the 5th" - I'm good after the fact, but you sort of get what you get when I'm dragged on the stage.
I don't understand this. What's your friend's problem? If you are not married to her, what's her problem with your saying what you did? How was she humiliated? I see nothing humiliating in stating that you most likely would not be marrying your date.
Good Morning! Good Afternoon!
I'm up, I'm up... And it's raining in NYC. Well, not this very moment, but it has been and is supposed to be.
DR Sam I hesitated getting the flu shot and found it no big deal. Keith finally submitted, and the reason I began, after getting the flu two years in a row. Of course there is no guarantee we still won't get it.
DR Jennifer - As long as your niece had a good time this morning, that's all that matters.
-And just what kind of storm was moving in? Did the rest of the people in attendance start to clear out and head home too?
The fact you think it will make a difference is funny. With all your book shelves, be prepared a kitten will likely disappear inside them for good long stretches. ;D
That footage of the snow breaking through the roof of the Metrodome was very cool. Scary, yes, but cool too! 8)
I'm not sure why they expect a new cat will get along with pre-existing cats. I know of plenty of horror stories. Some cats prefer to be the only cat. I'm also surprised you are finding it difficult to locate the siblings.
Since you are gone a lot I think adopting an existing pair would be ideal. Even one cat can be expensive.
Have you thought about making your gifts to friends a donation of rescuing a cat instead of physical gifts? Since you don't seem to have the money for either gifts or a cat at the moment it could be a gift to be used down the road. :)
Cats with short hair can also shed big time, just like short haired dogs. It isn't as noticeable and they are easier to brush & keep groomed.
True, however I meant constant fighting between the established cat & the new cat.
If he had been declawed and fixed I would be surprised if he was abandoned - perhaps he ran away
When I was a kid we moved houses and brought our (indoor) cat with us - somebody opened the door to the bathroom where he was being kept during the move in and he disappeared never to be seen by the likes of me again...
perhaps Nicholas had a similar history
at least I would like to think so.....
Jennifer - is it likely there would have been more time with Santa if not for the storm?
I'm 99% sure it had nothing to do with the storm. That is how she planned it. By the time we left at 10:30am the storm was just starting. And it wasn't supposed to start till the afternoon.
I also don't exactly understand this. Unless this female friend is someone who BK is dating or someone who is in love with BK why would she care if he said they were not getting married.
The only thing I can think of is that if this woman is slightly insecure, perhaps when BK said "um of course not" it made it seem like she was undesirable. I guess the answer should have been "i only wish she would marry me!"
-
DR Jennifer - As long as your niece had a good time this morning, that's all that matters.
-And just what kind of storm was moving in? Did the rest of the people in attendance start to clear out and head home too?
There were only one or two others who were rushing to leave I don't think the others knew the storm had started. Someone had called my sister to tell her. There was supposed to be snow (maybe 5-10cms) but turning to freezing rain in the afternoon and then rain later. It's all up in the air how messy it will be. But the freezing rain started at 10am. And my sis does not like driving in freezing rain. It wasn't that bad. It turned back to snow after we arrived at her house.
I stayed there for another hour. When i came home it was snowing. If they had just plowed the streets it would have been fine. the main road, one lane was plowed. So that was good. But I took another road I don't usually take. And it wasn't plowed.
-
That was a nice walk. -Even if it wasn't around The Reservoir.
-
DR Jane re: facebook. I am not sure why. But when you look at most people under "info" it says there contact information is facebook/their name. But for you it has your yahoo email.
-
I can't wait for the TAR finale tonight. Will history be made? The team I want to win almost never wins. As they come down to the wire I wonder which team will gut will go for. I am unsure between the two all female teams. I really don't want the other team to win. Although to be fair, they have been really competitive lately. And they are playing hard (attributes I like). I just don't care for them.
I wonder if they will be allowed to show the finale here at 8pm. I guess I shall see in a few hours.
DR Jane, if they know in advance that Fr. Richard will not be there the lay reader can do a Morning Prayer service (no communion), but with a last minute decision and nasty weather there as well as here, services were just cancelled today.
And I am so glad we didn't go. I usually drive home and the snow has really picked up in intensity throughout the afternoon. It would not have been a fun trip.
-
DR JohnG - Will you be trying out any more new restaurants soon? Or cookie and cake recipes? ;)
All the time. Any type of recipe you interested in? I'm making Mom's Tennessee Jam Cake tomorrow because it needs to sit a few days (actually about two weeks) before it's at its best.
And I just saw "Tangled," so I'm going to try to find and/or develop a hazelnut soup, though I think mine will be without parsnips.
:o
Thanks for posting that. I never would have seen it otherwise. And while it is likely to be costly to repair, the images were really pretty cool.
From Cilla:
You may have it hidden, but you will still be able to see it. You need to have someone who is not a facebook friend to check it for you
It should be hidden from friends as well. Can you see it?
When I go to privacy settings it has four options:
Everyone Friends of Friends Friends Only Other (what the heck is other!)
I have my contact info set at Other
Others = You've already customized your Privacy settings according to your own preferences and not FB's.
LOL I have no idea what this means.
Jose's post sent me into giggles. We are cleaning out our liqueur cabinet. There is way too much stuff in there. I decided to taste each of the whiskey bottles to determine what I like and don't like. My conclusion, we have way to many open bottles of whiskey & not one bottle of Crown Royal. Way too much that little tastes added up to too much whiskey for me to drink on an empty stomach, and I didn't like most of them.
I then tasted some Glenlivet which I enjoyed very much & think a couple of the whiskeys destroyed my taste buds & it is possible I might like some of the whiskeys I thought I didn't like.
Yes Jane, I can see it
Thanks. Other must not mean private. I need to figure out how to change that. Anyone can send me a message through FB.
DR Jane re: facebook. I am not sure why. But when you look at most people under "info" it says there contact information is facebook/their name. But for you it has your yahoo email.
Thanks. I found some people have both. I thought I had kept it private.
Sunday morning greetings! As you may have guessed, we did not go to Lima today. When my alarm went off at 5:30, Richard discovered that last night's rain had frozen and our driveway was solid ice. He told me to go back to sleep and he'd get up at 7 and call the church's senior warden. When he did that, it had snowed on top of the ice, both here and in Lima, so the deal was sealed. There's kind of a lull in the weather at the moment, but the predictions are for substantial snow later today into tomorrow. Is it spring yet?
Does that mean there weren't any services or does someone else lead it?
DR Jane, if they know in advance that Fr. Richard will not be there the lay reader can do a Morning Prayer service (no communion), but with a last minute decision and nasty weather there as well as here, services were just cancelled today.
And I am so glad we didn't go. I usually drive home and the snow has really picked up in intensity throughout the afternoon. It would not have been a fun trip.
Thanks, I was curious. I'm sure the congregation would prefer you don't travel if it isn't safe.
DR JohnG - Will you be trying out any more new restaurants soon? Or cookie and cake recipes? ;)
All the time. Any type of recipe you interested in? I'm making Mom's Tennessee Jam Cake tomorrow because it needs to sit a few days (actually about two weeks) before it's at its best.
I had to look this up. It sounds yummy.
Elmore, if you want to adopt a kitten, I would suggest going to the shelter or to a mobile adoption unit and meeting the kitten. By the way, kittens are in great demand now. Any kittens there will be adopted. Summertime is when you will save a life.
-
I told the foster coordinator that Spats got adopted. She will let me know when she has the next one ready for me.
-
Back from an errand and whatnot - we're going to be putting more Brain clips up on YouTube - from the original LACC production - although there were several changes after that production and I'm not using anything where those changes were made.
No holiday break for you? It would be nice if there aren't any kittens that need you to foster them.
And I just saw "Tangled," so I'm going to try to find and/or develop a hazelnut soup, though I think mine will be without parsnips.
I would prefer mine without hazelnuts.
-
Just saw "Tangled" this afternoon. Good fun. But I prefer the old-fashioned drawing. These 3-D style (I saw it in 2-D) characters look sickly and strange to me. I liked the script, but I preferred the visuals of the "The Princess and the Frog."
I think the leading male character is a hottie! Can you say that about a cartoon character?
My advice is to follow your instinct. It's a good idea to have your friend go with you to check the cat over for things like ringworm. It just looked like a patch of missing hair on Ricky. Doesn't mean the cat doesn't need a home, but the treatment and all involved can be expensive, so if there are patches of hair missing you may want to move on.
Your friends with pets might see adoptable cats through their vets. Those should come with some sort of health guaranty for a short period of time.
Hi TCB!
-
I'm pleased to see you are seriously looking for a cat. They are such great company. I would suggest going to the shelter or adoption center and playing with the cat before adoption. Some cats are much more affectionate, some don't really want to be held etc. You can't really tell that from the internet.
This last time, I had my mind made up about the cat I wanted to adopt but when I met the cat, there was no connection what-so-ever. I kept looking and Ricky captured my heart. He hadn't been there long enough to be online yet. He was past the cute kitten stage, so his chances of being adopted were less that a kitty. I posted the other cat on my facebook and don't know if that helped, but she was adopted within a day or so.
I'm window shopping. Part of the complication I'm having is that for a lot of the young cats the caretaker is asking for a cat to be apodted into a cat household or for you to adopt two cats, Right now, with my current cash flow hell, I cannot really afford to take one, much less two! I am having fun looking and I think something will happen with one or two cats in the near future.
I wouldn't worry about that, elmore. This flavor is pretty tasty on Ritz Crackers.
Tomorrow night I'm seeing the tour of A Chorus Line, so today I watched Every Little Step. It was a fun doc to watch. I hadn't seen it before. Jon and I saw the revival on Broadway on the last night of previews, so the doc was the cast I saw. Fun.
Western Washington has apparently survived the Pineapple Express. Tacoma ended up with a little less than two inches. Bremerton, which is about twenty miles from my place got almost six inches of rain.
-
Well, Cilla, it is just you and me again.
-
Just finished watching a truly awful motion picture - 1970, I think - what a stinker, but a really interesting one for many reasons.
I'm still here and it's still snowing...
Are you kidding me that none of the teams know who Sancho Panza is
The weather wasn't bad today. It was REALLY cold, but not snowing. I dug out the driveway fairly early, just didn't go anywhere. We're supposed to have snow showers tomorrow, but that will be ok
-
How much snow have you had so far, Ginny?
-
Sorry TCB, I was distracted watching TAR
-
I'd rather have the snow than the rain. I hate flooding.
-
I was about to ask the same thing. Crazy, I tell ya'! ;)
I heard that I was being discussed today for my FB comments regarding the weather and the Symphony not cancelling. I also have yet to find someone who actually went to the symphony. I have heard of a lot of musicians who couldn't get there. I can't imagine a concert with 1/2 or less of the musicians showing up
-
How much snow have you had so far, Ginny?
My car, parked out on the street, appears to have about 4 inches piled up on it. Our county is on a Level 1 snow emergency.
-
Glad you're safe and warm inside
-
YEAH! to the winners of TAR
-
Saw the film of the play ZOMBIE today. Our friends Tom Caruso and Bill Connington are the director and writer-star - the source material is a novella by Joyce Carol Oates, and she joined Bill and Tom for a talkback after the short film. I'd never seen Ms. Oates live before, and it was very exciting to hear her speak.
-
Four inches doesn't sound like a lot of snow, but it's supposed to blow and drift overnight. I, too, am glad we're all here at home. Rob and I trimmed the Christmas tree this afternoon.
-
OHHHH can't wait for the next TAR... past nonwinners get a chance to do it again!! Feb 20
YES!! "Unfinished Business" -Although, I lost track of how many teams from this just-finished season are competing again.
Good Evening!
And "The Amazing Race" is starting now. Just 28 minutes late/delayed.
I wonder if it started at different times in different places. Because I switched over to CBS at 9:15pm to see the preview for TAR 18. And it definitely wasn't 28 minutes delayed.
Btw, I am very unimpressed with CBS for showing teams in the preview that are definitely NOT on Tar 18. Especially sad that one of my favorite teams (who they showed repeatedly from this season) is not on.
I think these are most of the confirmed teams:
TAR 18- unfinished business
Kynt and Vyxsin
Amanda and Kris
Jaime and Cara
Kisha and Jen
Margie and Luke
Mel and Mike
Flight Time and Big Easy
Zev and Justin
Jet and Cord
Gary and Mallory
Michael and Kevin
-
And yes DRs Jose and Cillaliz they showed a ton of teams from season 17 (current season) who are not on TAR 18. What's up with that?
-
Actually.... It got cleaned out because I went in there looking to taste all of the blended whiskeys. I had no idea how many were in there.
I'll be having lunch with her later this week. :)
Yah but since we both live on the East Coast wouldn't our TARs start at the same time? Even if we were watching different football games (I think we had New England). Don't they switch and show the ends of all the 4pm games before starting TAR?
I am almost positive the middle one (the featured one) is the head of the dance program at Beaverton's Arts and Communications Magnet School. I talked about her last year when she mentioned, almost just in passing, how she had worked with Michael Bennett and had been one of the Turkey Lurkey girls. My jaw literally dropped.
I think you need to find out from someone who is not your facebook friend to know if anyone can send you a message (unless you don't want just anyone to do it). I personally like when people have the feature that you can send anyone a message.
For me there is still the feature "send jane a message".
-
DR Jose I thought that CBS showed the endings to other 4pm games no matter which game you were originally watching.
-
DR Jose I thought that CBS showed the endings to other 4pm games no matter which game you were originally watching.
Nope. It all depends on the market and region. Sometimes games are "blacked out" due to regional rules. Other times, the regional affiliates will decided that some games are not as "important" as others. However, if a game finishes "early", then they will usually go to some sort of post-game wrap-up show showing highlights from the other games still in progress. If they kept going to the other games already in progress, who know just how many more delays there could potentially be.
-
It's NOT the original cast, and DR JMK may be right it might be an Ed Sullivan show......if you read the pages of comments on the clip, I think some of the other girls' names are mentioned.
-
I am glad the producers of TAR finally got what they wanted - by stacking the deck and manipulating the makeup of the teams. Now maybe they will shut up, and we can go back to TAR.
Oh NO!!! A "superstar" TAR......just when you thought you wouldn't have to look at them again, here they come. I don't mind some of them......but let's get some more NEW people in there. The only thing worse would have been another "family" edition....and it is great that the season starting February 20 will be in HD!!!
We have about 4 inches of snow as well.....and now winds between 20 and 35 miles per hour.....so it's hard to tell if it's still snowing....or if it's blowing.
I am 99.9% it is Julane Stites. She replaced Donna and she told me most emphatically that it was her in the Sullivan appearance. :)
-
However, I LOVED the video of Turkey, Lurkey Time...reminds me so much of the TV specials we used to see when I was a little kid!
And now I must know who those 3 gals are, what they look like now, and what there entire life from then until now has been like.
I am almost positive the middle one (the featured one) is the head of the dance program at Beaverton's Arts and Communications Magnet School. I talked about her last year when she mentioned, almost just in passing, how she had worked with Michael Bennett and had been one of the Turkey Lurkey girls. My jaw literally dropped.
If this is the original cast, it's Donna McKechnie, Margo Sappington and Baayork Lee. If it's another video of it, then where is it? I love that song.
From this morning, courtesy of DR Jrand:
Must be some television special.....but still SO ENTERTAINING.....slightly different arrangement.
It is the Ed Sullivan show. An extended version of the clip with Ed in it used to be on bluegobo.com. Must have watched 30 times.
-
Yes, I see someone else had ID'd her as Julane (though they misspelled her name). Julane is now a teacher in little ol' Beaverton, Oregon, and she's a very lovely lady. Jose, you may recall I mentioned her last year--and that she still keeps in touch with Baayork.
DR JMK - Didn't you meet her last year? And she works in Beaverton?
;D
-
Watched Swan Lake on Ice - which was pretty good.
Watched the 2008 San Francisco Ballet Nutcracker....set during the 1915 San Francisco Exposition......with beautiful costumes and a completely inadequate Clara.....there were shortcomings in most departments, unfortunately.....I bailed after the Russian boys.
Yes, it's all coming back to me now--PLUS she keeps in touch with Baayork.
-
Nobody works in Beaverton.
-
I think I wish I had a whiskey cabinet to clear out.
-
DR JMK did you get your copy of Peter Shelley's book?
-
Nobody works in Beaverton.
Was the pre-quel or sequel to "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore"?
-
I edited my review so that people could Google your website.
I think it was the Lifetime Television version.
-
Nobody works in Beaverton.
We have Beaverton to the west of Portland and Troutdale to the east. I have always found that most amusing.
-
DR JMK did you get your copy of Peter Shelley's book?
Not yet, and I'm kind of p-d off about it. I won it over 2 weeks ago.
-
It poured rain all day -the streets are flooded and the temperature is supposed to drop dramatically overnight -- I guess I can expect to wake to a ice encrusted vehicle in the AM
Maybe THEY had to order it from Amazon after you won it.....it takes awhile to ship even if it's in stock.
I always loved her in that song in GYPSY....and her gimmick was definitely the best.
Page Eight Carroll Baker Dance. ;D
That's one damned happy bear!
I haven't noticed any sharp uptick in hits to my site. Of course, you're probably the only person in the world who owns the book. :)
Most schools are on two hour delay for tomorrow morning, and I am thinking they may close altogether.
I wouldn't have known anything about it if you hadn't mentioned it way last summer.
MBarnum, you may want to check out a new documentary called DANCING ACROSS BORDERS. My review of it is here:
Well... I'm pretty sure "Ms. Wong" is Baayork Lee. -Speaking of A Chorus Line...
I'll be having lunch with her later this week. :)
Did you see the article from teh SC Journal I posted about her?
Yep. It's even on the tour's website too. -Which is actually quite a nice website for a non-union tour.
Just saw "Tangled" this afternoon. Good fun. But I prefer the old-fashioned drawing. These 3-D style (I saw it in 2-D) characters look sickly and strange to me. I liked the script, but I preferred the visuals of the "The Princess and the Frog."
When I first saw the trailer for TANGLED, the character designs made me think that this was initially designed to be a cel-animated movie.
That's actually the Rapid City article on the website. Anyway, looks like our show will be the last before they break until Jan 2.
OHHHH can't wait for the next TAR... past nonwinners get a chance to do it again!! Feb 20
It looks interesting, especially with them bringing back Margie & Luke and Keisha and Jen.
But I don't understand why the need to bring back four teams from this past season, particularly the Tattoo Couple and the Father/(annoying)Daughter team. Also don't get the inclusion of the Goth team. But I am looking forward to the return of the Cowboys!
-
So, I've done some travel planning for our January trip south (church business and our 30th anniversary celebration). Is it somewhat ironic that we've been snowbound all day, unable to drive to Lima, and we're planning a driving trip in January? On that note - 'night!
;D
Dear Cillaliz, it was (I swear) it flelt like 80 degrees outside today. Everyone was in shorts and t-shirts. Can I have some of your winter holiday weather ?
Also listened to Christmas With a Kick IV, Jingle Bell Jukebox, Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Extraordinaire.
-
Watched An Affair to Remember last night, and A Letter to Three Wives this afternoon.
-
Back to the land of the living in the morning, I almost feel human.
Think I'll start Leave Her to Heaven (maybe watch 30 minutes or so before sleep).
Night everyone.
Happy week ahead.
;D
-
Hi Cillaliz, it must be beautiful outside. Nice and cozy inside. :)
-
I'm looking forward to this week. A Chorus Line and Brian Boitano with Heart. I still don't get the combination of hard rock and ice skating, but I guess I'll find out
-
Sure if you call a wind chill of way below zero beautiful, lol
-
I watched "The Ghost Writer" this evening and while cleaning some of my work area, I put on a few episodes of season one of "Bosom Buddies," which I just found the other day at Big Lots. Very '80s and very fun.
-
Sweet dreams.
-
Finished with my viewing for the evening.
-
Ok, time to get some sleep. I didn't do my homework, so I need to get up early in the morning and get my rear end to the office
JMK, here is Julane Stites now. Other then her hair style she hasn't changed much in 40 years!
(http://www.dancewestcompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/julane_dsc_2232_180px96dpi.jpg)
PS: I am addicted to the clip now.
Watched a bunch of B movies and a Bollywood, too.
Just finished the 1957 juvenile delinquent film NO TIME TO BE YOUNG...them was sure some elderly looking teenagers in this film!
(http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2186/2146947106_355c9c0051.jpg)
Highlights included Tom Pittman's humongous Mick Jagger lips, Roger Smith trying to look like he was not yet 21, and Merry Anders taking a drunken dive off of a porch roof.
-
I couldn't find the trailer for NO TIME TO BE YOUNG on Youtube (although it is featured on the DVD)....however, here is another Robert Vaughn teen age movie trailer for your enjoyment: TEENAGE CAVEMAN
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqA14PXHGrs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqA14PXHGrs)
Who in the world thought Robert Vaughn ever looked young enough to play a teenager...and in so many films, yet?
Here's said FOOTAGE (http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/dpp/news/snow-collapses-metrodome,-vikings-postponed-dec-12-2010) of the Metrodome Collapse.
Ditto!
Just finished watching a truly awful motion picture - 1970, I think - what a stinker, but a really interesting one for many reasons.
A score that you're thinking about releasing?
-
Saw the film of the play ZOMBIE today. Our friends Tom Caruso and Bill Connington are the director and writer-star - the source material is a novella by Joyce Carol Oates, and she joined Bill and Tom for a talkback after the short film. I'd never seen Ms. Oates live before, and it was very exciting to hear her speak.
I saw her play about Marilyn Monroe in Seattle...I think it might have been one of the very first productions and Ms. Oates was in the audience. I don't think that anyone else knew that she was there. I wasn't brave enough to ask for an autograph.
Today, we had a matinee of "Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol." We had a great show and a good audience. Another show that is going on right now is called "Blood Relations," and tonight's 8:00 p.m. show was the only time that people involved in "JMCC" could see it. It wasn't a great show...good actors though (for the most part). Marley's stage manager, light designer and I went to dinner before the evening show with Jennie, a woman who was supposed to be in "Blood Relations," but had to drop out because she got sick and would've been out for too many rehearsals. Her replacement is my friend Jodi and was very good. I would've liked to have seen Jennie, but Jodi was good.
