I've been getting inquiries about recording the Appalachian show, and the answer is a qualified yes. I believe that when we retrn from Hilton Head, there will be a recording made of some of the numbers for use as a promo CD to attract investors. We're still regarding this South Carolina production as a tryout to see how the show plays before an audience, what they like, dislike, etc. Before we can do anything major with it, we have to deal with clearances from publishers for some of the songs, and we may have to rethink things in the piece So many things are serendipitously falling into place that it's a little scary.
DJ, who's been developing the book with me, came up with a wonderful, subtle job for our returning Prodigal Son/Joseph character that makes a great reference to Joseph's biblical employment as a carpenter, and there's a wonderful musical moment from the ensemble when the miracle occurs inside the "Cherry Tree Carol" that moves me to tears.
