So glad I got out of the stock market several years ago.  days like this can be madness-inducing.

Another lovely review by jrand - well thought out and well written.

Speaking of written, I just wrote a little and will write more.

Easy to write a good review for a good CD!!  ;D

Yes DR RLP - I found LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE Oscar worthy, but not necessarily only for the ones it won....or for them.

The actor playing Zach got cast in a new show...or at least a pilot, if I remember correctly.

Yes, he's cast as John Connor in the TV offshoot of THE TERMINATOR.

No clothes off today -- and yes, Ethan is the one with the big "talent" -- his only it seems, since he is written to not be able to sing and dance.  ;)

So.....

Glad to read your audition went well, DR Cason. Broken leg wishes that you get "the call."

I began the afternoon viewing with last night's CSI: MIAMI. What appeared to be a bear mauling in the Everglades turned into a double homicide and a very convoluted plot.

It also looks like they're setting up David Caruso to get a new love interest, his second much younger Latina in as many seasons. HIs first wife was murdered near the end of last season. (The actress now appears as an assistant ADA on LAW & ORDER.)

In dubious honor of the scary stock market drop, and also in honor of the hee-hah discussion :) , here's an old song from HOW NOW DOW JONES:

Will everyone here kindly step to the rear and let a winner lead the way!
Here's where we separate the notes from the noise,
the men from the boys, the rose from the poison ivy.

Back in the bunch, I came up with a hunch, this was your up and at 'em day.
It's one of those spells, when you hear the right bells,
and your horoscope tells you to say,
"Will everyone here kindly step to the rear and let a winner lead the way!"

Next, I watched the Disney animated feature from early last year THE WILD. It was wildly unpopular, and I can see why: a negligible story (that borrowed greatly from MADAGASCAR without any of the fun) and not the greatest CGI animation. It was very colorful (I'm sure the Blu-ray disc looked great; I DVRd it off Starz!), and had some great voices: Kiefer Sutherland, Jim Belushi, Eddie Izzard, Janenne Garaffolo, William Shatner, Patrick Warburton.

But the humor was scant and, as I said, the story just really lacking. I can see why OVER THE HEDGE, which came out around the same time, was so much more successful.

Vibes for DR CASON.

You can keep your hat on.

I am thinking that Equity prevents disrobing at general auditions, but that they are permitted at callbacks.

I am excited about Eddie Izzard's new series on FX.  Or I was until I realized it co-stars Minnie Driver.

I concluded the afternoon with an interview on the WHEN A WOMAN ASCENDS THE STAIRS DVD with actor Tatsuya Nakadai who plays the bar manager in the film.

In the movie, he is stunningly beautiful, and the man who is now around 67 is still very handsome.

A commentator on CNN is suggesting it might be a "healthy pullback" of Dow gains that might not have made sense in the first place.

Okay, you lazybones, only MBarnum has cut and paste his review into amazon, where it sits like so much fish, lonely and alone.  So, others who haven't done their reviews (and there were several who were chomping at the bit), please do so, and those who have on CD Baby, just transfer them over.  Yay.  Also, it's been Kimmel day for amazon orders - nice orders for Brain and Stages.

I got an e-mail from www.soundofmusic-shop.de (I've purchased from them before) and it had a listing (in German) for The Brain From Planet X!  Click HERE for the English language listing.

No HOUSE tonight since IDOL runs 90 minutes, but all other shows seem to have new episodes.

BOSTON LEGAL is preempted by that special on newsman Bob Woodard.

And the given reason for today's market drop?

The market in Shanghai slid....and since China OWNS the U.S. debt, our stockmarket reacted in kind.

Yes, they're saying it's a much-needed "correction"....and what's more....it's too early to tell if a more "severe correction" might transpire.

I'ver read a transcript of a Warner Brothers chat at Home Theater Forum.

They talk a lot about DVD titles upcoming.  This includes their plans to re-do "The Music Man" in high def!!!

At any rate, there is a Judy Garland-Mickey Rooney box due this summer with "a lot of extras."

I wish we were getting an "Andy Hardy" box, but perhaps in time....

Well, I can't bring myself to pay the outrageous rates it would cost to change my ticket so I have a new plan.  I will drive to Omaha tomorrow, get up VERY early and try to get on the 6:55 AM flight standby.  It's full, but maybe the weather will prevent people from getting there. If not I'll just hope for the best on my flight.

That is unless I find something more reasonably priced later tonight, but I'm doubtful.

So tonight I must pack in as compact a way as possible so I can take only a carry on and be able to fly standby.  If I make it on the two flights I'm hoping to get I would be in NYC by 12:30 rather than 4:00. That would be worth getting up early.
