Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no news and then some news, and now it is time for you to post until the no news/some news cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: POETIZE!
-
So last night, I started filing my taxes (at the very last minute, I know, which is why I disappeared ::) ), but I'm not able to finish them. I'll need to look for a piece of info later today, and then I can finish the filing. Fortunately (and I know this because I've done this before), there are no penalties for filing late if one is getting money back, AND, if one is getting money back, one doesn't even need to file for an extension. ;D

Congrats on the two new reviews, BK!

Good morning, all!
-
I had a strange evening that moved into late night strangeness. Around 8:30, since I hadn't eaten a thing since around 3:00, I was starving, so I sent to the kitchen for something. There wasn't much but I settled on two slices of cheddar. When I went back top my bed, I discovered that one of the cats - I'm suspecting Stella - had vomited at the side of my bed. I cleaned it up and went to bed. Around 3:00 this morning, I woke up in a new sleeping position. Thatch was curled up and sleeping between my back shoulders. It was nice, and I am haooy that every day he shows more affection. I also smelled something that could have been kitty flatulence or worse. The other day, after a similar odor, I discovered one of the cats had pooped - I suspect Stella since she has bowel issues - at the foot of the bed.
-
Around this time of 3:00, Stella jumped onto the bed and lay down beside me. I petted her, and this got me thinking, what if I wake in the morning and she's messed the bed? What if I find another surprise at the foot of the bed in the morning? And there I lay awake, debating the pros and cons of dumping Stella. No, I decided, Stella would stay, even if I had to get around the apartment with a roll of Bounty towels strapped to my body. This was her home, and I loved her. I could not be so cruel to dump her in a shewlter where she knew no one, where she would be frightened out of her wits, and where she might be euthanized. I couldn't spend whatever time I have left worrying wheter she was cold, safe, happy, or alive.
-
This morning there was no sign of any kitty intestinal issues. so I guess That was farting while he slept next to me.
-
Today I am finishing the huge pile of laundry that I began last week. After that, I want to read through the new Charleston finale before I take it to Staples and scan it for Doug.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning
-
Wonderful reviews BK!
-
I have a doctors appointment before work so I must Wordle and skedaddle
-
BK, I was thinking that guy might have been posting some of Ed Ruscha’s Hollywood Blvd. photos, and Sunset ones (which I am remiss in going to the Getty site (I think) and getting into, myself). That would at least explain the partial buildings. But whatever he posts, it’s literally up to all of us to figure out. And while some of them look good initially, the low-res (or like you said, possible blurring) is certainly frustrating.

I’ve heard this as well, but haven’t checked into it. Oddly, I didn’t even think of it yesterday when I was filing the extension and saying I wouldn’t be owing anything.
-
I do know that in years past (long before e-filing), I’d mailed my return in a day late a couple of times and never heard a peep from them about it. No idea if those were owing years or refund years, but it was apparently never an issue.

TOD
We were relatively slow in moving from mono to stereo, and our first actual stereo player - a console from Sears around 1961 - was nothing to write home about. Even then, my parents would still sometimes save the dollar by picking a mono copy of something. We got stereo through the record clubs, at least, and a particular exciting thing for me was getting to know the D’Oyly Carte G&S operas in their London stereo releases.
-
Vibes for Stella.
-
Great reviews of the new book in the notes!
-
I had a few MONO albums, but I mostly bought 45s.
I had a console stereo that was given me by an aunt.....but I think one of the speakers was bad because some sounds were muted.
After that - I bought a stereo phonograph on a metal wire stand. It had the speakers on the side and a drop down turntable. It was most excellent!
-
DR JOHN G what was the last party you took your plate to? Maybe you left it there.
-
I'm up, I'm up - five hours of sleep. She of the Evil Eye just showed up - earlier and earlier - I'm gonna have to say something - eight-thirty is early enough. If I hadn't gotten up before the alarm at eight (up at 7:45) I would have barely been up.
-
Well we did okay. The new guy was good.
The middle of the dance section is not working so I will redo that - but the rest works.
-
I found a container with six 3.5 small hard computer disks in a drawer.
Labels but nothing written on them. I shall get out my USB disk reader and see what I have.
-
Lovely reviews in the Notes today!

And, of course, I know nothing about state income tax returns, only federal. Washington state doesn't have any income tax.

I'm back from London and got to see two movies on the flight - Argentina, 1985 and American Symphony. I especially liked Argentina, 1985. It was a natural follow-on to our Corpus Evita opera as it dramatizes the 1985 junta trials where the civilian government convicted and jailed the prior military dictatorship - apparently the only time this has happened.
-
Back from an omelet and a side Caesar salad. That used to be considered an alternate to potatoes or toast but now they just decided to tack on a $2.00 extra charge in addition to a 3% aren't we great fee. I think I'm about done with Hugo's.

Is the 3% aren't we great fee an addition to the price or to the tip?

Is Hugo's the only place adding an additional charge? Same question regarding the 3% aren't we great fee.

The three percent is some kind of service fee that has nothing to do with the tip. The default tip is now 22% there - not doing that either. 20%.
-
No glasses call and waiting for my book gal to call to figure out the order.

Glasses tomorrow afternoon.

Laundry went smoothly, thank God. I've been following the Trump trial since I came up from the basement.

I am very frustrated over the progress of Annabelle and Thatch. I have sent two emails in the past twqo weeks to both the illustrator and the publisher, and neither has responded to my inquiries opn where thiongs now stand.

Last year I read that 15% of restaurants added service fees.

DR MICHAELG is back from London and MR BK is back from an omelet.

I may watch The Pink Panther on TCM tonight. I haven't seen it in a long time and it always makes me laugh.
-
I first saw it at the drive in. It was the second feature and the people I was with wanted to leave - so I didn't see the ending until it was on television.
-
It was 81 degrees here today.
Thunderstorms and rain tonight and tomorrow.....they say.
-
I am not required at rehearsal tonight so I get to stay home.
-
Saturday night is my high school alumni banquet.....I guess I am going.
-

They were bored by "The Pink Panther"?

That should be fun. Have you kept up with a lot of classmates?

Leaving early at the drive-in to avoid the long line of cars exiting. A clever idea, but not great if you want to know how the movie ends ;D
-
Of course, they just might not have liked the movie ;)

Keith has been wonderful, spending hours and hours researching wound care and finding different bandages that won't cause red welts to form on my skin.

At least we're not on page 7. Rumor has it BK doesn't care for page 7.

Keith has been wonderful, spending hours and hours researching wound care and finding different bandages that won't cause red welts to form on my skin.
That's so great that he's doing that!
Has he found anything promising yet?
-
Page Four!
-
Yes. I finished using this wonderful clear bandage that soaked up all the gunk coming out of the wound.
-
Today we moved on the a thick foam pad, putting wound healing ointment on first. I miss being able to see through the bandage and know what is happening or not happening.
-
This one stays on for two days, unless it falls off sooner. Until then I won't know how sensitive my skin is to it.
-
Do you need to change the bandage just once a day?
Later edit:
Oh, got it - I just read the post before that question.
-
Because of the location he is doing all of this for me.

All that and a bag of chips (almost).

This is our dock on the lake where we spent our summers growing up. The painting was painted by my grandmother.

Those were three beautiful antique wooden canoes.

Which we sailed and paddled.

On the train on the way home from seeing a conversation between George Takei and BD Wong.
-
It was very good and very moving
-
I received an autographed copy of his children's book "My Lost Freedom" included in the ticket price.
-
I was pleasantly surprised by my commute iin.
-
I had an empty train car to myself on the way tonPenn
-
I exited right in front of a pizza place I've enjoyed before so stopped for a quick mushroom topped slice
-
Walked right over to the subway which came immediately and whisked me to the 96th street station
-
When I walked out to the street I was directly across the street from.the venue
-
The trains were all as convenient and well time on the return trip as well
-
Just a couple of stops away from where I exit now
-
I took the train ftpm.the station near work
-
But tge trip home will.onky take about 15 minutes at this time of night
-
I am seriously considering driving through Taco Bell on the way home though...
-
Hmmmm
-
The evening sounds terrific!
-
Taco Bell would make it even better, if possible
-
DR JOHN G what was the last party you took your plate to? Maybe you left it there.
Yes. I have used it.
I don't think I have used it outside my house since Mom gave it to me.
,
Most perplexing, as W.S. Gilbert would say.
Hmmm, have you used it inside the house since she gave it to you?
-
It has been a very long, very long day.
-
I made a Costco run. It was a madhouse on a Tuesday afternoon.
-
Then went to the doctor where I got a hepatitis shot.
-
Then raced downtown to usher for something I forgot what it was.
-
I ran through a strange drive-thru called Savvy Sliders. I had a tiny friend chicken slider and an oversized cookies and cream milkshake.
-
I made it to the theater at 5:35 and they had already started the briefing. I was 25 minutes early. Very strange.
-
John G, you're getting close to a major millstone, 90,000.
-
But it was a reception for the biggest donors to the theater over the past 10 years. So, it had to be perfect.
-
Well, it wasn't, but through no fault of the ushers. First someone dropped a glass of red wine that splattered everywhere, both glass and wine.
-
Six!
-
The mess was cleaned up quickly. Then another patron spilled a glass of red wine. No glass broke thankfully.
-
The director of house companies came up and said, "You know, someone just spilled a glass of wine."
My friend and fellow usher, Clarence: "Well, what do you want us to do about it?"
(We don't handle cleanups. There's paid staff for that. And seriously, no one in 10 years has come up to us to handle the issue.)
-
We were told to get a manager to get the cleaning staff to handle it. Strange. He was closer to the managers than we were and he could have called cleaning on his walkie talkie.
-
Anyway, we got everyone in the theater and did everything else perfectly. So, it was an enjoyable evening.
-
Anyway, we got everyone in the theater and did everything else perfectly. So, it was an enjoyable evening.
That's a relief!
-
At the end, there was a great surprise for everyone: We got to watch them flip the floor. It went from a flat floor for the reception to the raked seats that are most often used. It takes about a half hour, and it's like a mechanical ballet. Very impressive. It also gave me a slight sea sick feeling, but it was still really cool.
-
We're supposedly the only theater with a floor like this, and they change it several times a week.
-
I'm now home and unwinding before bed.
-
Has anyone read Ladies of the Rachmaninoff Eyes by Henry Van Dyke? Interesting gay novel that never really addresses the gayness of the characters. Two aging lesbians have been raising the nephew of one. A seance is planned to conjure the spirit of a family member who committed suicide. It's fairly broad and often humorous.
-
There was a gay joke in it:
What do gay spiders do to each other?
-
They play with each other's flies.
-
No groaning at HHW.
-
Keith has been wonderful, spending hours and hours researching wound care and finding different bandages that won't cause red welts to form on my skin.
That's great, Jane! Can we assume that he actually found some?
-
They play with each other's flies.
:o
-
:))
-
Nix to page six.
-
Had a little bitty cube steak at five. I really want to try this Shake Shack avocado and bacon cheeseburger - 600 calories. I REALLY want it but I should not be having it, oh, no, I should not be having it.
-
That would put me at 1600 calories for the day - not terrible.
-
Not as good as 1000.
-
This is the current dilemma.
-
This is our dock on the lake where we spent our summers growing up. The painting was painted by my grandmother.
That's really cool, Singdaw!
-
On the train on the way home from seeing a conversation between George Takei and BD Wong.
I'm jealous!
-
I'm zealous.
-
Almost gave in to the burger but thankfully - they're closed.
-
So, I got some tiny things from the nearby Pollo Loco and none will add up to the 600 the burger would have been.
-
Well, I got my income taxes filed earlier today, so that's taken care of. :)
-
I had to fix a couple of things before I was able to finally submit it online, but things were fixed and my filing wasn't rejected.
-
Of course, it was accepted by the filing service that I used...it still can be rejected by the actual IRS. ::)
-
s e v e n ! ! ! ! ! ! !
-
When all is said and done, I do not care for page seven.
-
I do not care for the fact that George disappeared completely at 12:05 never to return.
-
Not very sporting.
-
Not very nice.
-
Not a thing someone should do.
-
Nothing to be done about it, I suppose.
-
Listened to a very interesting song.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
