And now that I'm back at my brother's place, I'm doing... wait for it... laundry.

*When we got back from Santa Monica last night, the smell of skunk was in the air, both outside and inside their apartment. It smelled like a whole family of skunks went into defense mode. It was so strong that it initially smelled like someone had lit some matches. Well... It appears - well, smells like the skunk odor got into my luggage - more like, on it. Some I'm Febreze-ing my bags as well as re-washing some clothes.

Hello from New York, New York!   First, thanks to all for the travel vibes.  I'm at my hotel on the East Side, so I have to leave soon for Hugh Jackman.

I have never seen so many people here before!  It's crazy trying to walk down the sidewalks.

Okay, I went to the TKTS booth.  I was undecided but decided on On A Clear Day.  Oftentimes I'll leave the booth and then wonder if I did the right thing.  This was no exception.  After all, the early word is that the show is a turkey.

From Cilla:

Tomorrow is really just playing easy Christmas carols for an event while wearing red and green and sant hats.  Yup, we're the band they pull out of the woodwork to do these silly things.   It's for the Little Yellow Dog auction.   Cute yellow lab this year.  It's all for charity so the dog usually goes for thousands of dollars.

This will be you? ;)

But...I really liked it!  The score, of course, is great.  And though some of the show doesn't make sense, the performances were terrific.  My favorite song, "She Wasn't You," is sung three times in various versions by several people.

I'll be interested in knowing how they go from a gay male Daisy Gamble and turn them into a female Melinda in front of the audience.

We just saw the tour of "Irving Berlin's White Christmas." If it's Berlin, you know it's good.

Did it snow on the audience at the curtain call?

I was appalled -- yes, appalled -- at the amount of trash left behind in the theater.

I hope the skunk smell wasn't on your carry-on bag.

There was a hint of it on my carry-on bag, my computer bag and my checked baggage. It wasn't that "evident" - I had to get close to smell any odor. I guess I'm just a bit hyper-sensitive to it right now. Thankfully, the Febreze seems to be doing the trick.

If the smell had been worse, you might have had the whole row to yourself.

Not doing anything is sometimes more tiring than being active, especially if you didn't sleep the night before.

Has anyone here read Stephen King's 11/22/63?

What do you think of them?  I'm underwhelmed.

It's been an interesting morning here at LGB. I got selected for secondary screening - just the hand swab. The lady in front of me had a full bottle of wine in her carry-on... And they didn't make her throw it out. -Did the liquids restriction get lifted? One family almost missed their flight since they weren't responding to the "Final Boarding" pages. And one woman did miss her flight by just a minute - watching her plead with the gate agent was kind of heartbreaking.

Otherwise... It's been a good morning for me so far. The airport shuttle arrived a few minutes early, and the other passenger that was picked up en route was also heading to Long Beach.

I had a bottle of wine taken from me that was given to me on our previous flight.

Yep, it sure is crappy night of television. Of course, I decided to take a break from the laundry, and there's nothing on that I want to watch. So... Might as well catch up here on HHW. ;)

Yesterday was a perfect last day in L.A. for me. Lunch with bk at Musso & Frank, complete with a guest appearance by Richard Sherman, was lively and sparkling. -And my "side" of Lyonnaise Potatoes was huge.

My friend's birthday party in Santa Monica was great too. We just grabbed some tables at the Loews Hotel there on the beach, watched the sunset, drank some cocktails, ate some surprisingly good hotel happy hour food, and devoured some great cupcakes. The hotel's bar area was a bit short-staffed due to a private event in the main dining room, but the manager managed to take care of us, and he even comped the valet parking for some of us. It was a nice gathering of people, about 12 of us, and there were a few other friends from Richmond too.
