I finished TWO FOR THE ROAD tonight and as usual just fell in love with Finney and Hepburn all over again.

I don't Finney was ever more physically attractive, not even in TOM JONES or CHARLIE BUBBLES.

Couldn't get enough of Hepburn, so I put in THE NUN'S STORY and watched the whole thing. Impossible to imagine that due to BEN-HUR sweeping most of the awards that year (for color films), THE NUN'S STORY went home empty-handed.

Finally decided on my last movie of the evening, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. Hadn't watched this in a long time, and got infuriated early because it's another of those infernal MGM nonanamorphic transfers. I got the TV to scale it, and it looked fine, but not as super sharp as an enhanced transfer would have probably looked.

No stereo sound either so I programmed the receiver to apply Dolby Prologic IIx to give the sound some surround enhancement.

I had forgotten that I had the DVR pick up BRIEF ENCOUNTER from TCM last night (I've never bought it on DVD), and I'll watch that at some point over the next few days.

Question.... Anyone recognize the actor in the stripes? I swear I have seen him before but I cannot place him.

BTW, this is from Days on friday and their spin on HIs Girl Friday. Matt does a pretty good rendition of Cary Grant..

Tomovoz - in honor of your narrow photo, you should try to take in the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge while you're here.  (That's just a joke.)

It's past midnight here (and we've passed the all-time low as well), so I'm heading to bed.

Good night!

Skip made an amazing dinner today in honor of my father's birthday.  Mom loves lobster, so he made soemthing low-cal :) which translates into Lobster St. Jacques (a variation on Coquille St. jacques), as well as a luscious lobster salad appetizer.

Tomovoz... lovely new avatar of you as well.. have you lost all your whiskers?

DR WFO and I hope to travel i to NYC on the Saturday, the 23rd to see you and yours... have any firm plans been established with any of the others of the HHW crew??

We have no plans for the Sat or Sunday so far - thinking of an afternoon show on one or other day.
Only plan so far is theatre on the Thursday night and dinner with FJL on the Friday night.

I am trying to clear off my DVR...boy, things sure do pile up quickly!

Just watched Charles Bronson, John Doucette, and my interviewee Gloria Henry in GANG WAR (1958)...now will watch either BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK (which I have heard is quite good) or a silent movie that just recorded this evening.

Good evening all. I'm a little bummed.  On my last 2 trips to New York I've splurged on a necklace from Tiffany's. Nothing totally extravagant, but extravagant for me.  Well I can't find either one of them. I could swear I remember moving them myself from the old house to this one and the rest of my jewelry is here.   I have looked and looked and it's driving me crazy.  So I could use some necklace finding vibes.  I really don't think anyone took them...I think I've stuck them somewhere where I'd remember them.

I haven't unpacked everything, but I thought I'd unpacked everything I brought over by hand.

I really should get some sleep.  I was actually in bed when I decided to make one more search of the upstairs for the necklaces. So, no luck. Think I'll try to sleep again

~~~Necklace Finding Vibes for Cillaliz!!~~~
I know that there will be things that I'm going to misplace when I move. :o Actually, I already have a list of CDs that have been missing for several years, now!  I've just replaced most of them but I've actually found a few of them.  But I do hope you find both of your necklaces!!
