They are southwestern birds only, Jane. Very common here. And so nice to have right outside my window.

And the word of the day is: LOGORRHEA!

Ah yes, I caught a bout of that from a timber salesman from Montana!

I am in a kind of weirdly eclectic listening mood.  I started the day with that great old Mercury Living Presence Dorati reading of Respighi's Ancient Airs and Dances and now I'm listening to the King's Singers do William Billings (do in only the nicest, most platonic sense).

Last night I watched a rather nice Spanish production of Alfano's Cyrano de Bergerac.  It's rather sad that he's only remembered for completing Turandot--the guy could write.  :)

I am not sure that "eclectic"  is the word I would use.

I went swimming in Ye Olde Pool - water was eighty-eight degrees, the way I like it.

According to Wikipedia, "At Long Last Love" is available online through Netflix:

"To date, there has never been a home video release of the film in any format, though it became available to stream online in early 2011."

And this is only for the few of us who care.

I'll bet that Burt cares.

Joe set up a facebook page to let people know how he's doing.  He has his story of the day of the tornado...wow.  Anyway, you can friend him at Joe Royer  (the one from Joplin Mo) or you can find him through my facebook page.

I friended Joe, and then I sent him a short message.  Unfortunately, I don't think the message went through, becuase just as I hit "Send" Facebook totally froze up.

Well, darn! I need some Vel to make my hands as soft as a rose.

I remember Vel.  Our next door neighbor always had it.  Oh, does this mean I'm old?

No, that means your neighbor was old.

DR Ginny i like your plan to watch the ceremony from the comfort of your home.

It was quite moving, with singers who didn't feel the necessity to turn patriotic songs into pop numbers (like the ones in last night's concert).  Richard was pretty wiped out when he got home - showered, had lunch, watched a little TV, and now has slept for a couple of hours.

Then, I guess, I am not the only person who thought last night's Memorial Day Concert was a bit strange.

Did you show up at your next-door neighbor's house a lot, Cillaliz?  ;-)

We finished Downton Abbey and loved it! We are looking forward to Season 2. Oh, that Mrs. O'Brien. She tarnishes the good name of Ireland but she did have second thoughts so I'll cut her some slack.

Well, I managed to take the garbage out and make it back into the house without falling again; so that is some improvement.

We broke down and turned on the air conditioner. It's hot and muggy and I don't think we would have slept well otherwise.

;D  We have to wait until it is released on Netflix.  Can you watch it on tv?
