Back from West Side Story.  I'll have much to say in the notes, but because I don't want to keep anyone in suspense, let's just say that Arthur Laurents not being nominated for a Tony is well deserved.  He needs to never be allowed again to come near any show he wrote - what he and his cohorts have done to this West Side Story is criminal and the fact that it's a hit speaks more to the power of the show itself (which is always criticized as being dated and silly these days) and the low values most of these inane tweens and teens who filled the theater and reacted as if they were watching American Idol.  The use of Spanish is stupid and pointless and robs the show of some of its best laughs.  One or two lines, okay.

Out of curiousity, were there people laughing at the parts in Spanish?  I'm thinking of those who are bilingual and whether their experience may have been different

Good Morning!  Good Afternoon!

I'm up, I'm up... And I got up about an hour and a half ago - 5:30am, Bicol time - and took a walk. I was amazed at just how many people and things were already up and moving about.  And, yes, I took pictures.

We'll be heading down to the Macagang Diner for breakfast in a few, and then some friends of my Dad will be picking us up to take us to Mass.  And then I think we're going to a water park later today if the weather doesn't get stormy.

OK - So, I guess it's still "Saturday" here on HHW.  It's already Sunday morning here.  Got it now.  Check!

And since it is already Sunday here, Happy Mother's Day.  -And it's quite nice knowing that I'm spending Mother's Day with my mom - for the first time in a long time - and in the Philippines too! :)

DR DAW - Someday I, too, will "invest" in a KitchenAid mixer.  They're made in Greeneville, OH, and I understand there's a great outlet store.  It's about an hour's drive from our house.

DR Ginny - I've actually thought of getting another one. And with the various sales at Macy's, Williams-Sonoma, and Amazon, sometimes the "investment" isn't really that much of a $plurge.  I know that the 5-quart models are usually on sale at Macy's for just under $200 every other month.

I must say, my legs haven't been sore from exercise since I began the new jogging routine last July, but boy are they sore from this treadmill.
Is the treadmill on an incline?  That could account for the extra stress on your legs.  (But I don't suggest running backwards to counter the stress.)

Actually, if you're used to running on a flat surface outside, setting the incline on a treadmill to just 1 or 2 degrees is usually advised.  The incline helps to compensate for the lack of true forward motion, since the foot rolls from heel-to-toe and "strikes" differently than it would on the road.

Now, if bk is using the same running shoes since he started jogging last July, those could also be the culprit.

And setting the treadmill on a very low speed and walking backwards is good warm-down

Whew!  I am so tired today.  I may have to take a nap this afternoon.

Well--- performing, "Take Back Your Mink" every night must really wipe you out!

No getting into that girdle so that I can fit into the dress and the fur is the exhausting part!

Well, aren't you used to getting out of your clothes, in general, anyway?

DR ArnoldMBrockman - We start our return to the States on the 16th. And since we gain (back) a day traveling east, we arrive on the 16th - even after almost 20 hours in flight.

So, elmore can see Mr. Rodney Gilfry but not Mr. BK?

I have no urge to pick a fight, but I haven't seen Mr Gilfry in two years and I've seen you since then. Also, to come to my defense, when DR FJL set the date for last night's event. I had already booked my time for both the DC trip and the McGlinnventory. When Skip called me yesterday morning, I had no idea how long I would be at the law office or how I would feel at the end of my day. I had until 2 pm to respond. Between the dust and the US post office's screwup with my mail, I was in no mood to be social with anyone. I would have loved to see everyone there, but you're not dumping guilt on my parade!

Why does Ghost Whisperer keep going over? At least here it was not marked in the listings. I had to go to a lot of trouble to catch the end (which i thought of skipping but i'm glad i didn't).

My day was peculiar: I got back from seeing Rodney Gilfry to find a phone invitation from goddaughter Charlotte to see a movie. We saw OBSERVE AND REPORT with Seth Rogen and Charlotte's godmother Celia Weston as his drunken mother. A truly off-kiltre film, I liked it very much. I didn't know where it would go and it reminded me a lot of TAXI DRIVER in its theme of alienation. During the movie, Charlotte's purse was rifled through and her cell phone, iPod, and cash stolen. We spent time with the police after the film, then headed to Verizon to report the theft. Ron and dona joined us at the Verizon store. It was fun.

That's horrible!   How did that happen?  Had she set the purse down somewhere?

Off to host Daniel Stein's performance.

She put the bag under her seat and the guy behind us discretely rifled through it. She'll get hell from her mother.
