Saturday morning greetings! Don't know why I woke up so early this morning, but here I am. We have a quiet day ahead, getting ready for tomorrow's trek to Lima.
-
The trailer doesn't begin to do justice to the movie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYCkFTyADJ0
And watching a movie in which Liam Neeson plays a widower is now even more touching.

DR JRand - we quite enjoyed FOOTLOOSE. And you might find it interesting that just as your BLITHE SPIRIT closes, it opens at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company (http://www.cincyshakes.com/blithe-spirit.html) - break a leg to both companies!

The TV in the waiting room is tuned to some "entertainment news" show - apparently Sarah Palin's daughter is getting married and getting a reality show - and somebody else named Bethany (I have no idea who that is) is getting a show called "Bethany Getting Married"
I need a reality show - The Mundane Life of Vixmom
of course if they pay me enough my life could get less mundane..

Hi, all--just checking in from super-cool Bozeman, Montana. This has been one of our favorite stops on this whirlwind journey across the U.S.A. Tonight we're in Spokane (Medical Lake, actually), and then tomorrow, home! Of course, we're not home for long--there's a Bar Mitzvah in BK's environs we're off to next. Oy.

She of the Evil Eye will be here momentarily and then I shall jog, after which I'll head out to the Lake of West.

This is my sixth jog day in a row - but I'm at that beginning stage where it's really hard to lose even a damn pound. Next week I should start losing actual weight - I hate this part, the building up to it. It happens every time, though, so nothing to be done about it. I haven't overeaten at all this week and you would think I'd have lost at least a pound or two but it sure doesn't feel like I have. In fact, it feels like I've gained - I haven't - I can always tell by how my pants fit - but it's annoying.

Jogging vibes for BK.

No posts in 40+ minutes? During that period I vacuumed, finished arranging my theatre scores and put away some books. I'm afraid to tackle the classical scores alone. I need to sort through a bookcase and send more books to Miami U so I can fit the McGlinnventory scores onto the shelves. I may need to hire Zak Stains to come over and help me so I don't drop the tv or something. I would not be happy if that occurred. Between estimated taxes, health insurance and now the NYU Dental Clinic bills, I can't afford a new tv.
-
I just learned that the brilliant conductor, arranger, and musicologist Sir Charles MacKerras died on July 15. I was a great fan of his andf I love his ballet score for PINEAPPLE POLL, based on the music of Sir Arthur Sullivan. He had a long life, 84 years, but it's a sad day for music.
I also just realized that tomorrow would be my mothers 87th birthday, may she rest in peace.

Listening to various and sundry Kritzerland soundtracks that I had purchased, uploaded into iTunes and haven't listened to yet. I love anything with the 70's sound. So much fun.

Well, I have a movie date at 6 with Chris; I'm going to force him to sign his Hanukkah album and hear how the performance went last night. I just had my first scheduling conflict on the Herbert recording schedule for October. I sent every singer in april a tentative schedule and asked for conflicts before I froze it. Oy!

Does anyone have a DVD copy of THE GROUP that they'd be willing to lend? My book group is reading it for August 19 and we'd like to watch the movie together. It's not on Netflix and I'd really rather not buy it if I don't have to.

So, DR Elmore, what movie are you and Chris going to see?
-
"Empire of the Ants" - just plain scary. You don't even have to know the film to know what is going on. I've lifted my feet off the floor several times during the music and I have this insensate itching!

I've never seen it but i think she is from THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW YORK (Bethany).
And I also think she was on Martha Stewart's APPRENTICE (which i did watch).

I need to go drive my niece home. Her daddy is going to babysit her and her sister tonight (it will be his first time putting the baby to bed alone).

My niece and I went swimming with my mom. It was nice at noon. But by 1pm it was getting worse. We got to swim for 45 minutes. And then had to wait in the bathroom because it was pouring and there was thunder.

In other matters, Richard wants to attend an ordination in the Orlando, FL, area in a couple of months and has asked me to plan a little vacation around the event. I am totally unfamiliar with the area and would appreciate any/all advice DRs might have!

Afternoon, all.
It's very hot here in Chelsea.
Early in the morning (8:15) I went to get my haircut. I guess others had the same idea. There was already someone in the chair so I waited and played with his friendly doggie.
After that I went to the new Trader Joe's which has opened in the old Barnes and Noble bookstore on 21st and 6th Avenue. It was blissfully almost empty. TJ's has been a phenomenon in NYC. The original store in Manhattan on 14th Street and 3rd Avenue is usually mobbed. They have opened a store in Brooklyn and there are plans to open one on the Upper West Side (at 72nd Street). I hope this will curb the crowds at 14th Street but since the new store is closer we will go there for our shopping excursions.
We have been in the house all day. The AC is not on yet (we put it on in the bedroom, the only room with a unit, at night when we go to bed). Anthony has been transferring LPs to CDs and I have been on and off the Internet. It's too hot to exercise (the advantage of having a gym membership) so I have not been riding the bike lately.
We watched a great movie last night. We got the DVD from the library. It's a 1945 (British) Wendy Hiller film called I Know Where I'm Going. It's about a willful woman during World War II who insists on going to an island in the Hebrides chain to marry a man she hasn't met. A gale prevents her from getting there and she comes to realize her life is going in a different way. The film is in black and white but the scenery is gorgeous and the cast (including a young Pet Clark) is WONDERFUL!

We have only been to Key West and Capitva on the West Coast of Florida. I have no recommendations or insights regarding Orlando.
-
I did a three-mile jog, then went to the store and bought new running shoes and new walking shoes - first shoe purchase in a year and a half, so that's pretty good.
-
Lunch was fun, and then I picked up several packages and the envelope I've been expecting. I did some banking, then opened the packages, one of which contained DVDs of The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest - apparently both have English subtitles although the menus are in Chinese and I'm hoping by using the subtitle button on my remote that that will do the trick.

That's my problem, DR Ben. I've only been to Sanibel, 30 years ago, and that was to visit my professional mentor and her husband in the condo they rented for the winter. All I had to do was get myself to Ft. Myers on a plane and they entertained me for a week.

It's actually not really like a regular hoola hoop at all. With a regular hoop you can go round for maybe a minute. But with hoopnotica the hoop is specially weighted. So you can do it for an hour without stopping.

There is the Epcot Center or is it considered part of Disneyworld? I would think a day at each is needed.

I've had a sore throat and some sinus issues since Wednesday. Today was the first time I've been able to take a nap. Man did that feel good. I'm feeling much better. The house is still a mess, but that's ok, I can't really clean it up until I can put the combination windows back in...that can't happen until they finish the windows....so...good time to relax.

Today has been a day of me doing nothing...but that is about to change. I'm going to take a shower (TMI, I know), get dressed, then go downtown for a bit of Olympia's Capital Lakefair (http://www.theolympian.com/2010/07/15/1304932/a-summer-celebration-by-the-lake.html) celebration, then I'm going to see TAO's production of "Othello." HERE (http://www.theolympian.com/2010/07/02/1292158/othello-gets-edgy-attitude.html) is a write-up of the show before it opened and HERE (http://www.theolympian.com/2010/07/09/1299097/othello-moves-to-new-york.html) is an actual review. I've never seen any production of it (not even a movie), but it should be good...although Shakespeare tends to go over my head, so we'll see.
I remember the song "Desdemona (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oghfxiZZUVU)" from the TV show FAME, so maybe that'll help me be able to follow the story. ;)

No-o-o-o, DR TCB! Dairy products are the last thing you should introduce to a queasy stomach. Try applesauce, clear soup, or jello at first.
Hope you feel better soon!

Just finished a really amusing radio interview on KFWB - very irreverent.

Hoping it sells a few books, too.

All three Millennium DVDs are out in Sweden - but no English subtitles. Someone in China bootlegged the videos and did subtitles in English - I got them on eBay. I must say, some people said that The Girl Who Played With Fire was even more violent than the first film. Now, I didn't happen to find the first film overtly violent at all, as you know. This one is LESS violent (only one scene could be deemed violent, involving an ax, but it's really nothing at all compared to most movies). I'll have more to say about the film in the notes, but I enjoyed it very much.

There is Sea World and Church Street Station
If you could only do one Disney park, which one would it be? We've been to Disneyland in California, which I suspect is similar to the Magic Kingdom. We've also been to Universal Studios in CA and Sea World in Ohio (just before it closed).
Epcot.

Chris and I went to see THE SORCEROR'S APPRENTICE, which I sorta liked although I think I'm really over Jerry Bruckheimer's endless chases , fights, and over-the-top CGI effects. There were wonderful moments, but I was not crazy about the actor playing the apprentice.
After the movie we went to dinner and I told him all about my Ohio jaunt and learned what's new with him.
I have no idea what Victoria's Closet and I have in common!

It depends on what you are looking for
hmmmm the only one I was not a big fan of was Animal Kingdam - and the last time we were there was 12 years ago so it may be much better now - Magic Kingdom is pretty much a Disneyland clone - MGM studios is movie based you can go sit inthe Muppet theatre and see a Muppett show in "4 D" - three D movie plus animatronics
Epcot is kind of 2 parks in one - there are rides in the front and the world showcase in the back - the "countries" in the showcase are all worked by peopel really from that country - they are quite interesting to speak with

Thanks for all the FL input - we'll probably stay out by the University of Central Florida and choose Epcot as our WDW venue. My learning curve is beginning to level out on this project...
Now, because my alarm will go off in just over 6 hours - 'night!

Surly boy - who turned out to be delightful. We all had a grand time, the food at the Daily Grill was yummilicious and now I'm ready to plotz.

Sorry I missed out on the day. Wishing vibes for all in need and hope the day was as good as mine. I had a fine day at work (all overtime) and then went to a party at the house of a friend who seems to be a spy. I kid you not. Anyway, the party was good and I must now slip off to slumberland. Early day tomorrow.

Well, we must have sold a few books on amazon because of the radio show - we jumped from 1,500,000 in the sales rank all the way down to 103,000.

Congrats on the sales jump, BK!
