Good Evening!
The Theatre World event at Barnes & Noble was fun. To open the program, I played "Cry Me A River" while d'Adre Aziza (from Passing Strange) sang "Cry Me A River", and then I just sat back for the rest of hour while Ben Hodges, the current Editor in Chief of "Theatre World" and his staff and the Special Guests talked about this and that, and that and this.
There was a nice crowd. It wasn't a full house, but I also wouldn't say that it was poorly attended. And I guess since the "surprise guests" were truly "surprises", the usual horde of autograph-seeking, picture-taking and chatboard-posting chatterati was not there. Whew! However, there were some "regulars" - and some homeless people who stop into those events to take a nap in the room.
The special guests tonight were: Josh Grisetti (Enter Laughing and the pre-empted Broadway Bound, Susan Louise O'Connor (Blithe Spirit with Angela Lansbury), Brian Kerwin (Emily, August: Osage County, Susan Kellermann (33 Variations among others) and Len Cariou (Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, Teddy & Alice, etc., etc., etc.).
