Laura, YOu were not the only one smirking at the comment of the Macbeths not having heat for two days.

Well, it was Edisaurus' silly "Oscar party" that did it all!
I went and bought the DROWSY CHAPERONE cast recording LP that cost $50.
Holy Moley! 39 Pages?
Good morning, all! It's either the headcold, or the stress of the past week, but I couldn't think of a single thing last night to add to the list. I'm most jealous of "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte Russe" because my goddaughter is Charlotte. She's never seen the film, but last year I gave her a copy of Christiane Noll singing the song on BK's "Jeepers Creepers" CD.
Today, errands: post office, bank. I need to pack up a lot of accumulated things here and send them back to NYC this week. I think I can return on Friday night. We had a good meeting with the attorney, and Macbeth seems okay right now. Of course, he has to go home and let Lady M revise his thinking!
TOD: last purchase, my nonregional DVD player. I love it!
TOD:
I couldn't find a picture of Velvet (the Mt. Hood Lab) to brighten the breakfast table, so I opted for religious tolerance instead:

I'll have STUDIO 60 and CSI: MIAMI to catch-up (ketchup?) with today, and maybe the Blu-ray of MONSTER HOUSE before prime time begins this evening.
HOW UTTERLY DISGUSTING!!!!
DR Matt, have you seen MONSTER HOUSE before? Watch some of the "Making of" extras--it's amazing how much effort they actually put into making this film.
Well, it was Edisaurus' silly "Oscar party" that did it all!
Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!
Fun, Fun, Fun!

Soul of the Tango?
I wonder if the copier repairman will come today.
...and the wait goes on....and the wait goes on
Well.....I am sure you made a good purchase DR DtM - there will be those who want that album LONG after however many copies are pressed. And they could be counting the emails and need one thousand before they do another run....
MUSIC GUY, do you know YoYo Ma's Soul of the Tango? I adore this CD.
And as for last night's HEROES.
SPOILERS

I must say i love their tag lines. And last night's "someone will fly, someone will die". Was no exception. And they did a great job of keeping their options open right till the end. Claire's mom was hurt. Claude (invisible guy) was hurt. Plus that woman that could hear the loud sounds died (and that made me wonder if she was gonna be the one). I would not have been happy about that since we did not know her. But what a great ending! Caughe me by surprise.
I also love that YoYo Ma-Ennio Morricone CD.
An extravigant purchase may be the new cast recording of Company which is $16.99]/b] on iTunes. What's up with that?? Amazon has it listed on SALE for that much, and it's only a single disk.

And I just checked my shopping cart and was informed that the new JACQUES BREL recording has increased from $16.99 to $18.99! DeepDiscount has it for $13.97. I'm searching for COMPANY there. If I find it, I'll order both.

As for the pricing... I think part of it is due to the "limited appeal" of the OCR. Another is the typically "generous" PS Classics packaging - slipcase, booklet (with notes, pictures and lyrics).
Mmm--I hadn't thought of that. Maybe I'll add my name to the e-mail list to see what they eventually say.
On iTunes, you don't get the neat little slip case and lyric book, so the price should be less, that was my point.
Did they number the first 1000 copies?
Is the new COMPANY OCR a must have? I have the OCR of course, and the "new" which I didn't care much for. I guess listening to the OCR for 20 years kind of set those songs in my head a certain way.
Yep--I have copied numbered in the 500's.
YoYo Ma is so fat she went to the movies and sat next to everyone.
Well, I certainly hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems the only downside of my new job is that I am scheduled to work on Friday night at 6:30, which provides a direct conflict of interest with our dear Brain release party...
Take off the roller skates, put down the tray, and go to the party!

Beautiful clock George!
Oh, I thought his work attire consisted of a bow tie, vest, breakaway pants, and a banana hammock.
;D
DR Matthew, where in Pennsylvania is this town to which you've chosen to relocate?
TOD:
I'm a little embarrassed to mention this, because I had dissed the object on this very board a few weeks ago. But I went and bought the DROWSY CHAPERONE cast recording LP that cost $50. Not only did I buy one, I bought two, thinking that I could sell one and make a killing on eBay at some point since they were only supposed to print only 1000 copies. However, I now see that even though Ghostlight has sold out of the original 1000, they are telling people on their website to send email and they will be notified when the LP is back in stock! Grrrrrrrrrrr...
...and the wait goes on....and the wait goes on
Glad you're feeling better DR DAKOTA CELT
Didn't Samuel Beckett write a play about this? :D

Oh, I forgot about that. I got one also, #581/1000. I scanned the cover of the album to make a booklet for the CD. Here's what the album looks like:
Too bad you cant charge him waiting charges..
I went to the bank today to check out the current worth of this CD for $7300 we found in my dad's safety deposit box. The bank can find nothing under the number, my dad's name, my name, or my social security number! I'm wondering if he sent me this 10 years ago and I put it into my IRA?
I'm quite puzzled!
DR Matthew, where in Pennsylvania is this town to which you've chosen to relocate?
Danville PA, which is a couple of hours from Harrisburg, I'm still shaky when it comes to geography in the area.
San Mateo CA to Danville PA???????
Some fun, nimble and passionate playing.
Which date was this?

I keep seeing this commercial that I think is for a video game....but it's a movie: 300 about The 300 Spartans.
I'm still trying to get a lamp. I was on hold for fifteen minutes - finally got someone on the phone, gave them all the info, then was told I had to call the parts department to actually order the lamp. It turns out that number in the booklet is the parts department - you know, the one that was busy. I spent ten minutes on constant redial, then finally got a ring and was greeted by more voice mail options. I'm now on hold waiting for someone to speak with.
Tuesday greetings! My day started badly - no tables in the room where my grantseeking basics class was scheduled and the projection system did not work. I got started about 15 minutes late, but it all turned out OK in the end.
Maybe my BRAIN will come today...

Oh... And this is truly not for the faint of heart, nor the easily offended, but...
If you liked the recent SNL "**ck in a Box", then you'll probably like this video response - from the female point of view:
DO NOT OPEN THIS ONE AT WORK! (http://youtube.com/watch?v=3xElIik0Ys0)
Finally ordered the lamp - I just missed the cutoff for it to be shipped today. I wonder why I just missed the cutoff - it must be because they had me on hold first for fifteen minutes to speak to someone I didn't need to speak to, then on hold for an additional ten minutes. That must be it. In any case, the lamp will be here Friday. I could have done Thursday but it would have cost another fifteen bucks and I can deal with the one extra day. Lamps are not under my five year extended warranty, however. Just what IS under my five year extended warranty is anyone's guess.
DR Ginny - Did you discuss food-influence movie titles during your delay?
;)
... and on ....
If you like that disc, you might want to track down a copy of "Los Tangueros". It's two-piano arrangements of a couple of Piazzolla tangos played by Emmanuel Ax and Pablo Ziegler. Some fun, nimble and passionate playing.

Is it almost time for page 6?
Danville PA, which is a couple of hours from Harrisburg, I'm still shaky when it comes to geography in the area.
Believe it or not, I used to go there on business. It was basically the middle of nowhere back then.
Tax memo, tax memo
Save me some tax
Bend me some rules
Twist all the facts
Tax memo, tax memo
Cite all your books
And get me a zero tax

"Doing business in the middle of nowhere" -- that should be the title of a "making a fortune selling on eBay" book.
Good point, Ron.
I wish I had made a fortune there. As one of only two females in the department I was sent in to appease a very difficult customer.
Just what IS under my five year extended warranty is anyone's guess.
Ended the afternoon with MONSTER HOUSE on Blu-ray. Motion capture was used to do this clever animated film, the same process used with THE POLAR EXPRESS a few years ago.
Feldspar.
Gesundheit.
... and on....
OOH! OOH!
"The Polar Express"!
I've got to watch that one real soon....now that I can "appreciate" it!
I'm wishin' and hopin' and prayin' for the UPS guy to deliver my "Alice Faye DVD Box" today!
So if you are watching a non-HD dvd on an HD TV...well, can you? Or is the picture going to be bad. Or will the picture still be an improvement over watching it on a regular tv?
For instance, if I were to watch ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE on an HDTV...would it be good or bad?

the day finishes up with "Little Mary Sunshine" starting at 9:45pm.
MMMM Well I guess A Broadway person is likely to become confused.
So glad to have you back with us, DakotaCelt!
Things I've seen while waiting....
DR Laura, did they ever come....
And continuing the Mardi Gras theme, I went ahead and made another stop at Manna's where I loaded up a tray with Meatloaf, Collard Greens, Stewed Okra and Corn, and Mac'n'Cheese.
YUMMERS!!!
Chrysallis on the passion vine.
Sounds like a Sondheim lyric to me.
No. I am beginning to think that they don't value our business.
And no packages, which leads me to believe my troubles aren't over - I've been expecting a little CD from Italy and it's quite overdue, isn't trackable and they didn't insure it.

Neither. It would be pathetic.
DR Elmore, you just mind your Ps and Qs and get that fire escape ready for company.
....the mission point is missing....
And now, I must leave. I'm ushering for THIS (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/calendar/calendar_detail.asp?event_id=870) event. It'll be interesting, to say the least. ::)
The skating rink on Sepulveda Blvd? I can't think of any others.

Especially for DR Jane - Burt Lancaster in "The Grain"
Yes, quite! Let us know how it was received.
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER had a hilarious outing tonight
I wish I had a kitty or a puppy to keep me warm.
Well, Rodzinski and TPunk, anway.
Jose-Those cookies look delicious, just what this growing girl doesn’t need.
DR Ginny - I like the Skyline Hotel over on 10th Ave., between 49th and 50th.
www.skylinehotelny.com
*I find I get better information and rates when I call the hotel. The "new" wing is quite roomy and worth the extra $10-20/night. However, the "old' isn't bad either.
DR Jose - thanks. The online rates are about what I've been seeing other places, but I might try to call. Not tonight, though. I'm about to crash.
Ginny-Will you be returning to NY in October?
DR MBarnum - I spent some time last night and today looking at hotel possibilities and I wish we could find a fire escape to sleep on :o
DR Jose - what's the name of the hotel you like?
For a lark this afternoon, JoAnn and I watched SNAKES ON A PLANE.
DR MBarnum, the film I just watched gave me several ideas on decorating the fire escape for your visit.
I wish I had a kitty or a puppy to keep me warm.
Yesterday, did anyone say:LIVER LET DIE?
I woke up in the middle of the night still thinking of those damn movie names.
Sometime today the serviceman stopped by and fixed the machine. He was lucky that the minister happened to be there; it is the minister's vacation. I had specifically instructed the serviceman to call ME before coming by. So at least it is fixed.

Tonight we had a pancake supper at church. I ate all my dinner, so you know what THAT means:
Will we never get to page twelve?
Why do I remember something about Moto and a coffee pot?
As in Java the Hut (would that be a good name for a coffee shop?)
My concern is that much of what I watch (ok, all of what I watch) is not HD and I don't want all of my favorite movies to look cruddy if I were to ever spring for a fancy television set.
Now plasma and HD are two different monsters, right? If I were to watch a regular, non HD DVD on a plasma tv would it look OK?
I guess what I mean MattH, is that the DVD won't look worse on an HDTV then when I watch it on my regular tv.
**And I have to say my saving grace is that each cookie is $3.50 - and well worth every penny - but they're definitely the type I would "casually" buy a dozen to take back to the apartment. -Besides, that would be over five pounds(!) of cookies!
I rewatched SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM tonight before the start of IDOL. Enjoyed Chad Allen's performance very much, especially his recollection of his Army lover. Beautiful, sad moment.
The note of melancholy that runs through much of this film is strong. Yet, there are enough light-hearted moments to take the edge off the nasty side of things.
Really good show.
