Once again PETA, IMHO, went too far.  That is a very powerful video, once you get past the ridiculous.

My DH is flying to Indiana tomorrow. Looks like he'll be able to see some snow this winter after all!

 ;D  Kitty was soooo cute.

How on earth did I miss Kitty???

I adore Kitty, but I missed her (or him according to Brenda), too!

I missed Kitty, too. Boy, how did that happen? That's what I get for not working on it anymore!

For DR Edi.

Johnny Mercer's "A-Huggin' and A-Chalkin" (1947) was banned for its suggestive lyrics.

I just looked up these lyrics the other day, wondering what a song with that title could be about.

I'm now listening to Jo Stafford sing "It's No Secret"

Wonder if Darlene Edwards ever got hold of that one?

It's not listed if Darlene was banned from the BBC.

Thanks for your thoughts on the U.S. single skaters, DR Ron. I always look forward to your analysis of the skaters and felt the same thing this year right down the line.

The old guard skating commentators (Scott Hamilton and Sandra Bezic) were certain Johnny Weir would be offered the third spot on the men's team despite his abysmal performance. In the old days, he probably would have been, but with the new points rules that seem to change and intensify each year, they really can't afford to give even good skaters a "bye" and potentially leave the year's best skaters at home. I say you must earn your right to go to Worlds every year by skating your best at the Nationals.

I had a fun evening of leisure viewing. I began with the new DVD set of WHEN THE LION ROARS. I had watched about half of the six hour documentary on a homemade videotape last week, but once I ordered the DVD set, I put the tape aside. Tonight, I finished watching it on the DVDs. Enjoyed seeing it again, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it many more times over the years now that I have a decent copy of it to watch.

Next, I watched tonight's NCIS. Pretty easy to solve but I enjoy the cast's camaraderie so much that even less than great mysteries make the show always a pleasure to see.

And I ended my evening by watching last Friday night's 30 ROCK. Again, a rather hit-and-miss episode. There was a priceless moment when Liz and Jenna are doing improv and Jenna is just to stupid to "get it." It gave me a big belly laugh. Some other parts (Kenneth trying to save Tracy from contracting diabetes) not so much.

I have two more items in my review stack that are due on February 3rd - FRIDAY THE 13th in 3-D and season two of DAVE'S WORLD. I had FRIDAY up next, but I just don't want to think about watching another slasher film so soon, so I'll do DAVE'S WORLD starting tomorrow, and that will be two or more days to get through that set of 26 half hour episodes. Never having seen DAVE'S WORLD should also make it interesting.

The old guard skating commentators (Scott Hamilton and Sandra Bezic) were certain Johnny Weir would be offered the third spot on the men's team despite his abysmal performance.

They did suggest, after the fact, that he would have better off taking a "sick-bye" on the Nationals than sucking it up - and than falling flat on his face.

The problem with doing major Broadway revivals or movie remakes is that you're always competing with the memory of the original.

Even if the remake is better, it will always lose.

There are, of course, exceptions, but that is generally the case.

I understand that the recent revival of SOUTH PACIFIC was terrific, but when you think of that show, you still think of Mary Martin and Enzio Pinza.

who?

It was below zero again. I'm getting used to it...I didn't wear a hat or a scarf and wasn't even cold
