John Cage...anyone?

Well, he wrote that one piece that is quite lovely. Here's a particularly inspired performance:

Yes. Absolute perfection!

I have wondered, at times, if this is what inspired Paul Simon's "The Sounds of Silence".

I love the Bob Merrill reference.

I like the sun.

I sometimes sun sneeze, though.

Anyone else sun sneeze?

My coworker Krista does.

I listen to John Cage a lot - even without a CD or radio.

Speaking of Webern: the web radio is currently playing Arnold Schoenberg's Friede auf Erden. Not much joy there.

My question for ASK BK DAY:

Did you ever work at the 1040 N. Las Palmas studio?

DR JEANNE that version of La Mer was lovely - and I loved the group and their clothes and how they worked together....such fun.

Reminded me of The Fendertones and their version of The Monkey's Uncle by TSB - such fun the listen to and watch.

Another bout of hyperventilation!!

Dang it!

This time it was caused by my trying to dislodge some congestion that had my throat wheezing with each breath.

My breathing was fine, but the wheeze was driving me crazy.

So I coughed and coughed (too strenuously, obviously) and the next thing i knew I had set off the hyperventilation.

Outdoors I went and sat in the sun while I did some deep controlled breathing.

This is NOT something I want to get used to.

From John:

I ushered for Disney Princess tonight. There were about 1,000 there, many not even four feet high. They were dressed in their princess costumes and had a ball.

Awww, cute :)

It’s supposed to reach 73 today. To reference a Bob Merrill lyric, I look forward to drying my tears with the sun on my face.

73 degrees sounds heavenly to me.

I am relieved we might hit 50 degrees today and not having freezing temps as when they replaced the first two of our windows. Today they are replacing the last three.

We aren't actually getting new windows.  They just have to remove them to fix the broken seals and replace the windows we already have.

Does anyone else here have a mattress warmer on their bed?

It's one of the greatest things I've ever found.

Even when it is super cold, the bed can be pre-warmed to be luxuriously inviting.

It's not a blanket.  It's a mattress cover.  There are electronic controls that can sit on your bedside table.  You control the degree of warmth with a dial.

Oooh....it's just wonderful!!!

Cool.  I just wear warm pajama's and use flannel sheets.  I was looking at a mattress that had a foot warmer.

I am sorry.  If, and hopefully it doesn't, you might try breathing into a paper bag.  Try putting one in a convenient place at home and maybe one in your car.

Ask BK (or anyone who might have a recommendation):

I need a good set of speakers for my laptop.  Everything I have found is either inadequate, soundwise, or requires RCA inputs on my laptop, which I don't have.

I have one set of Cambridge Masterworks speakers on my laptop in my den, and they are perfect.  But I have other laptops in other rooms, and the sound those laptops produce just isn't satsifactory.
