Well, you've read the notes, the notes were fatherly, and now it is time for you to post until the fatherly cows come home.

Good morning, all! I was having EILEEN copyist nightmares so I had to get out of bed.

I have another quiet day, although I do have to draft an email about the slowdown in EILEEN copying in the past week, and get a fire going under some folks. I need a trip to the local hardware store to pick up a few housekeeping necessties, and that's essentially my day. I have some personal work to accomplish and I've got a lot of DVDs to catch up with.

Last night I watched Peter Ustinov and others in [Thirteen at Dinner[/i] and portions of two hrror movies, Michael Reeves' The She Beast, which was an ordeal, and a relatively new vampire film that was so bad it was like watching softcore porn. I enjoyed the Agatha Christie movie quite a lot, and that ended my curent set of Netflix items.

DR Ginny, I am happy the service went well, I applaud DRs TCB and cillaliz for moving the number of posts forward. I was amazed to find so many posts this morning.

Speaking of Father's Day, I am a bit melancholic, missing my dad. Still, I wish all the fathers of my acquaintance a great day.

Gee, BK,

My son tells me he has sent me copies of both UNKNOWN and THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU (via Amazon) for Father's Day.

After reading your comments....

My hope is that this will be one of those many times where our opinions differ.

Well, I'll let you know what I think.

I summed up THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU with a resounding "meh" for y'all many days ago when I reviewed it.  I think I may have liked it even less than BK, but I gave it 3 stars for Chick Flick lovers, which is what I felt it basically is.

Jose, you actually DON'T have to reset a Droid phone.  We've already done one workaround, which did in fact work, I was just wondering if there's something simpler.

For some reason, reading summaries of UNKNOWN brought back memories of THE PRIZE.

Though I don't have to go to my church gig today, I am trying to catch up on reviews after several stressful days dealing with the soon to be ex-tenants.  I believe I will crank out reviews for the Michael Tilson Thomas Keeping Score series, this one about Mahler, which was absolutely superb, RideBack an anime series that's kind of interesting, and perhaps Max Manus, a Finnish film about a real-life WWII resistance leader.

Geek Alert Department.  OK, this is for those of you who haven't yet realized how obsessive compulsive I am about completely picayune things.  (There are a few of you who haven't realized that, yet).

BTW, Jane, this post will be long, so just skip it now.  :)

My mother got an album many many years ago from the Columbia Record Club when I was a kid, entitled Soundstage Spectacular.  It was by "Terry Baxter," whom I have since found out didn't actually exist, but was a Columbia Record Club pseudonym for specialty products that were evidently conducted by a variety of different arrangers (though a couple of Terry Baxter albums have Terry Baxter arrangements, something I've not yet been able to clarify).

One of the reasons I've loved Soundstage Spectacular since I was a kid was for its absolutely elegant orchestrations by Johnny Gregory, and if you haven't heard his work, I highly, highly recommend checking some of it out.

Anyhoo, I have been scouring eBay for a decent copy of said album and over the course of the past couple of years have gotten 3, 2 of which were badly damaged.  I finally got a near mint copy and was pulling the first two to put in the donation pile when I noticed something really peculiar.  Two of the three copies list 25 Songs from 25 Films as the subtitle, but one lists 24 Songs from 24 Films as the subtitle, and is missing the delightful "An Angel is Love" from BARBARELLA.  (A fantastic Gregory arrangement).  I think this is most peculiar and can't for the life of me figure out why they would have to pull one song, especially on what was probably a one shot limited release deal made to Columbia Record Club members.  Also, that version has a red label different from the typical Columbia Musical Treasuries Gold Label.

And thus ends my OCD Father's Day screed.

And, well...

Remember that wonderful "speech" that that adorable kid gave about riding his bike? Well...

If you "Songify" it, it sounds likes THIS.

DR JMK - maybe the "rights" expired - that song was only licensed for the first pressing - and those albums were featured for years in the ads where you got 12 albums free for joining, and CH wanted to keep it in the mix......

I don't have it ... although I remember it for some reason.

It is raining again this morning, and right now I am watching NO, MY DARLING DAUGHTER and waiting for Rad Fulton to make his first entrance.

Mr James Westmoreland said he enjoyed working with Sir Michael Redgrave very much - he didn't mention Juliet Mills or Michael Craig.

DR JMK - Thanks for your screed. ;)

*And as far as resetting your Droid phone, that is the easy way to do it. Not the most convenient, but the easiest - it just takes two to three keystrokes/button pushes.

I liked reading about DD BEN, the Show Biz Dog yesterday.

DR JOSE - were you wearing a baseball cap during your bus adventure yesterday?

I have completed my opening paragraphs for my reviews of MAX MANUS and RIDEBACK.  I find that once I have my lead written, the rest of the review is relatively easy.  I wonder why that is.
