Back from a sandwich and no fries or onion rings.  I was so proud of myself for not succumbing to fries and onion rings that I gave myself a mid-meal standing ovation.  The rest of the people in the jernt followed suit.

Shortly I'll go pick up a package or three, then I'll jog.

It also sounds like many other folks have the same problem I do.  The ground is just too saturated to take the water and with that much water that fast, there isn't much you can do.  So, I'm going to quit whining about how no one helps when I need it even though I help everyone else and just take my time and fix it.

Thanks Jane and George.  I'm feeling better about all of it.  Probably because the rain went in LOTS of basements here last night.  A young prosecutor said "But you shouldn't have water in your basement. why is it there?"  I said "Because it rained"  She said "But why? it should be able to rain without going in your basement."  I just walked away.

The Topic of the Day:

The time of the "flower-power" was before my time and I never really looked back...except for Liz Callaway's "The Beat Goes On" (produced by our very own BK):

and the upcoming "boom (Live at Birdland)" with her sister, Ann Hampton Callaway:

Heading to a music rehearsal.

Thunderstorms with hail are threatened....we shall see what we shall see.....even if it happens, I doubt I will hear it over the CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN cast next door.

Cilla I mentioned this the last time you had this issue, but since you're ripping out drywall, I highly recommend buying the sealer paint.  We used to get copious water in a rental whenever it rained and once we had painted the foundation walls with the sealant paint we never had another issue.

I just made an appointment for Monday to get the oil changed on my car & had to add an extra 2 hours to the time to do the latest Toyota recall.  I figure that gives us a few days to drive the car & make sure there aren't any problems before I lend it to Bryan for the summer.  I had planned to wait until I can drive again, now I need Craig to take me.  At least the car dealership is across the street from the mall & walking distance to Target.  Craig needs summer clothes that fit.

from JMK:
Quote
I have discovered the coolest thing that I never knew existed,  handy dandy little things called HomePlugs.  You plug them into a wall outlet, put an ethernet cable into your router, and then there's another HomePlug you can take to any other room with a wall plug and you can "hard wire" any devices into your LAN with another ethernet cable.  We've been using it all over the house to do firmware updates where our wireless network won't reach and it's been doing great.

We almost purchased this the other day until we learned our measly 1.5 MB (download speed) can't keep up with it making it useless.  What is your speed with your new Comcast?

In the Hilarious But True Department, our new tenants called yesterday from California where they live to discuss a couple of things and it came up that they were in Ventura so that the husband could go to a Rush concert whilst the wife shopped in Santa Barbara.  I mentioned that I had reviewed the recent Rush audio Blu-ray of Moving Pictures and I then got a long, accolade filled email from the husband, who had actually read my review some time ago.  Though he's more or less my age, he is such a Rush fan that he told me he can play the entire album of Moving Pictures "note for note," which strikes me as funny.

What is Rush?  I know the room deodorizer, but not the  musician or group.

I can't believe I forgot to post this, but JR, contain your excitement:  SMASH is releasing a CD before the show premieres!!  (Seriuosly, the songs are by Shaiman and whoever cowrote CMIYC, so they at least might be tolerable).

Isn't it his partner (in both senses of the word)?

...but of course flower power type music was all the rage when I was a youngin...and I have many, many favorites...but a few are:

THE RAIN, THE PARK, AND OTHER THINGS - The Cowsills

REACH OUT OF THE DARKNESS - Friend and Lover

ABRAHAM, MARTIN AND JOHN - Dion

LOVE GROWS WHERE MY ROSEMARY GOES - Edison Lighthouse

WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS LOVE - Jackie DeShannon

AQUARIUS - The 5th Dimension

IN THE YEAR 2525 - Zager and Evans

I love the the love in these songs...I think the world today could use the loving attitude displayed in so many of these tunes.

It's Never Easy Department:  Comcast is having problems switching over my phone service to them.  I think I'd rather have no phone service than have to stay with Qwest.

I may be unbundling with Qwest by the end of the week.

Did a jog, did some work on the computer, and started watching a motion picture on Blu and Ray.  In about fifty minutes I shall be on my way to the screening.
