DISPENSING WITH THE FROU-FROU
« on: September 24, 2011, 11:55:12 PM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes dispensed with the frou-frou, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they've replaced the frou-frou with the moo-moo whilst dressed in a muu-muu.

As I was saying...

Good Evening!

Well...

It took me an hour and a half to get to the theatre earlier today. The matinee was at 2:00, and I left the house at 12:30, so... I literally walked through the stage door as they were calling "Places". -Whew! -I truly am sick of the DC traffic - give me a delayed A Train any day!

And because various streets in DC are currently barricaded and blocked as part of the security perimeter around where the IMF meetings are being held... And since there seemed to be a lot of various bar parties and functions tonight, it took me an hour to get home.

Thankfully, everything that came in between my commutes was wonderful: show, dinner, show, post-show drinks and desserts.

Greetings from Times Square!   I'm at one of the coveted little red tables in the closed-to-traffic section of Broadway, enjoying the free wi-fi.

I had a great day yesterday!  I was able to check in to my hotel early, which is always nice.

I went to see Avenue Q.  It's at a much smaller theatre now and I managed to get a 6th row seat at a 40% discount ($55).  I really enjoyed the show.  I had seen it years ago so I didn't really remember everything.   The guy who "played" Rod" and the other character-puppet (can't think of his name) was fantastic.

Then it was time for my dinner with DR elmore!  I had never been to Johns' Pizza before --I was amazed at the size of it.  The pizza and salad were great as was the company!

I kind of wish I had not gotten a ticket for another show. It would have been more fun to enjoy DR elmore's company!

Last night I went to see a show called "Channelling Kevin Spacey."  The title is kind of misleading..  It should really be "Channelling Al Pacino."  It's about this working stiff who's in a bad relationship, hates his job, etc.    Then he starts to act like the characters in some Kevin Spacey and (mostly) Al Pacino.  There are two actors in the show.  The other actor plays numerous characters and he's really great.   It was never boring, but I'm not sure I would go out of my way to see
it.

Well, I'm going to make my way over to the Flea Market and look for DR Ben!

Till later-

Have a great day, everyone!

DR Ginny, re: do it yourself manicures. Can you find polish that dries right away? It is so much better.  I basically only keep clear polish on my nails at all times. But it dries it seconds. And i love that part!

Tonight are the premieres of: TAR, The Good Wife and Desperate Housewives.

Can't wait!  I am excited about them in the order i wrote them.

On TAR looking forward to Ethan and Jenna from Survivor. Should be interesting to see winners compete (since i'm all about competitiveness). Although i saw a preview last night. And there is some kid who was the youngest ever to sail around the world (or something like that). He should be super athletic and competitive. He is doing it with his dad (who is hopefully equally fit and competitive).

Good morning, all! I had one weird dream about waiting for a plane and running into two friends waiting for the same flight. They were both flying standby and i spent a lto of time at reservations trying to get my seat changed to be seated next to one of them. My luggage may have been lost as well. I no longer remember.

I slept later than intended and I am sitting in this apartment thinking, what the hell? What disaster happened here? It's a cluttered mess. I think I will spend some of the day tidyng up because i cannot think in this chaos.

I feel all stuffed up today. Especially in my head. Not sure what to take. I tried Advil cold and sinus. Hopefully it will work.

BK, since you often only eat one meal a day do you jog on an empty stomach?

I find that to swim or bike i cannot do it on an empty stomach or i don't have enough energy to do it.

Also, do you carry water with you. I see a lot of people jogging here everyday and almost none of them seem to have water bottles.  I can't bike without water. Although i can swim for an hour without drinking.

Oh!

And yesterday's matinee performance happened to be the 150th (official) performance of Oklahoma! at Arena Stage. They broke out the champagne, sparkling cider and chocolate-dipped strawberries after the show. Festive!

And after tonight's performance, one of the "special interest" establishments in town is hosting a "Closing Week" party for the cast, crew and orchestra. Free pizza, free drinks (well, 2 of them), and Karaoke! Should be fun.

Yesterday, between shows, I met my friend, Yosh, for dinner at Birch & Barley. Great room, very good food, and perfectly times service. *And their bread basket contained some of the best soft-baked pretzels(!) I've ever had.

And...

Since there's some other traffic-causing events going on today in DC, and since I want to stop by my brother's house top drop off a birthday present for my niece, Alyssa, on the way in - she turned 9 on Friday! - I'm going to head out now. I really don't want a repeat of yesterday afternoon's incredibly frustrating and anxious commute.

Laters...
