DR elmore - Can you check with Donna to see if she has any of her cast/company tickets left for Pride & Prejudice?

All is good, so far, today: I've ordered a couple of used books on 19th Century Romantic Piano Music and Chamber Music, settled on the title for the Herbert piano and cello music recordings, and bound my scores and librettos for EILEEN, ROBERTA and THE RED MILL. I'm arranging a piano-vocal score today, so I'll work on that for the next xouple of hours.

The only dilemma is what happens on Monday, when I'm supposed to be at the Library of Congress. I have just received word that they "don't yet have a continuing resolution for the fiscal year that starts Oct. 1st, so don't buy any expensive tickets until it's definite we'll be open."

So, DRs, the Library of Congress needs some vibes!

Oy!

I sent her a Facebook message, but she's not responded. If worst comes to worst, I'll go to the theatre early and see if I can grab a cancellation.

I just spoke to my friend Kasey Marino, about dates and interest in working on the Appalachian Christmas show. He wanted to do the reading but he was tied up with another job.

Jose - Since an outside producer is named, isn't it possible this is very prudent for the Pasadena Playhouse?  Maybe there's some enhancement money?

I looked up the new musical, "South Street." I was amazed that the otchestrator gets top billing on the ad! I should have been so lucky!

Oh, that's a possibility too. But couldn't their image as a "host" producer end up getting tarnished?

This morning I had a Facebook internet chat with a gal who played one of the background dancers in this marvelous nightclub scene from GUMNAAM (1965).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoqWOOtlIbM

She and her brother, Terence, were dancers in a ton of 1960s Bollywood movies, those that required more modern forms of dancing.

If I recall, the actor playing the singer is her brother-in-law Harman.

Only if the reviews are of the "What were they thinking?" type as opposed to "this is fun" or the "respectable failure" type - but isn't that a risk a theater takes with any new musical?

I had a nice time at the Flea Market.   I enjoyed seeing DR Ben and catching up with him.  Later I met my friend Robin and her mother after they arrived from Florida.   We walked around the Flea Market and watched a lot of the auction and had an early dinner at Carmine's.  It was great!

I guess what I really mean to ask is:

Why premiere a musical about "The Philly Sound" in Pasadena?

Especially for you JRand, here is a dance contest clip from the Bollywood film CHA, CHA, CHA where that gal can be seen. She (Edwina is her name) is shown shortly after the music gets going. She has very long hair and the camera catches them just as she and her dance partner twirl.

Her brother is in there dancing also. Just find the tallest, lankiest man.

I love this movie!
