DR JRand561, Heigh ho the glamorous life indeed!
And the word of the day is: BOLE!
BK,
I am surprised....
No, SHOCKED!....

That you've never seen THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE.
It's one of my all time favorite haunted house movies; was released the same summer as THE EXORCIST.
And, it was either written by or based on a story by Richard Mathison.
Speaking of haunted house movies: Have you ever seen THE CHANGELING with George C. Scott? That's another goodie.
DR Elmore:
Why did McGlinn do the BRIGADOON? Please excuse, I haven't read the notes yet. Was it to capture the complete score? It wasn't a reconstruction project, was it?
BK,

Horrible to read of the shooting outside the Empire State Building.
Why are people writing about Tony Danza?
Why are people writing about Tony Danza?
Tony Danza was supposed to be in HONEYMOON IN VEGAS before that got delayed (I think) a season, so "they" :) are doing "Who's the Boss" parody lyrics in the Times comment box, too!

DR MBARNUM very nice picture of Jeffrey Stone.
So are we talking about William Reynolds or James Anderson?
Spot on. And funny. Why are people writing about Tony Danza?

I guess everybody loves Lucy. At least it's not Debra Messing (it's Sofia Vergara). I wouldn't want Dear JR to spit up on his keyboard while viewing
We know more about the shooting: a former employee of a store near the Empire State Building at 33rd Street waited to shoot the manager. After he shot his victim, all hell broke loose. Some of the victims may have been wounded by police in the return fire.
There was a series of harrassment complaints from both victim and shooter, and this was a battle going on for about a year.
I got a really nasty tweet (and follow-up) from Steohen Farrow, which makes me wonder if people must think the finger-on-the-golden-delete--button Ann Miner is Mother Superior crossed with Cinderella's fairy godmother Theresa.
Who the hell is this brilliant but cuttingly caustic Mr. Farrow? He seems like he has a real mean streak, but his tweets and feeds are very entertaining (when not directed at those I love)! I'd love to get to have a normal conversation with him someday, he must be a bitchy joy if he's not hating you at that particular moment.
FJL - normally, my reaction to all this would be to take a step back, breathe, and move on. But one someone attacks one's character, it's ON! Hang in there!

I just used the Photobucket account for the first time to post the Lucy picture. It's easy and it seems to work!
Thanks for the instructions George.
I just had great news: Karl Harpur's work visa finally came through and he and his girlfriend will soon relocate to Los Angeles to try for an acting career. His cousin Colin Egglesfield is doing very well there. It couldn't happen to a nicer person and I am thrlled for him and wish hm a huge success.
Sony is looking at turning "Tootsie" into a musical. Yawn.

Why not "Mrs Doubtfire"? Actually, it might be charming, if they did something like ONCE with the screenplay and didn't faithfully follow the film. Is Larry Gelbart still alive?

*I'm really(?) curious(?) about the upcoming musical version of "Grumpy Old Men". I think(?).

TOOTSIE's not written yet, but the parody lyric's done, if anyone has a minute for the NY Times comment box.
[just no "Ughs" - that means your staff especially, Jeffrey, you don't want anyone annoying Mr. L again, he's so protective of the people in his department]

Great lyrics, Fred!

I believe Aine took this photo of Stephen Rea recording the Finale from the chorus loft. He's on the left in black, next to Karl Harpur in orange.
Now I am confused. In your pictures yesterday you identified those two gentlemen in reverse order. And since I don't know either one of them, I took it that Karl was the one in black and that Stephen Rea was in orange.
I'm off to see a production of Chicago in which a friend of mine is playing Velma. Their Mary Sunshine walked a few weeks ago and instead of re-casting, they wrote the character out. I don't hold up much hope for this production. I'm already falling asleep!!

I hope that company still includes "Mary Sunshine" in their cast list. Otherwise, if the licensing house's "clippings service" gets wind of what they did, well... Not good.
2007 Australian production
Kookaburra Musical Theatre mounted a production directed by Gale Edwards in Sydney in June 2007, starring David Campbell as Bobby, with a cast including Simon Burke, Anne Looby, James Millar, Pippa Grandison, Katrina Retallick, Tamsin Carroll and Christie Whelan. The show was well-received, and Sondheim travelled to Australia for the first time in thirty years to attend the opening night. However, the production caused major controversy when Whelan was out sick for one performance and (with no understudy) Kookaburra chief executive Peter Cousens insisted the show be performed anyway, but without the character of April. This involved cutting several numbers and scenes with no explanation, and that night's performance ended twenty minutes early. Following complaints from the audience, there was considerable negative press attention to the decision, and Sondheim threatened to revoke the production rights for the show.

And there was a shooting in Brooklyn(?) last night where a street vendor thought another street vendor was honing on his turf, so he took out a gun and started firing. Two people were injured. Thankfully, two cops were in the area and had the situation under control in a very short amount of time.

This is the world we live in.
And people on castrecl tell me that when a person I do not know
posts creepy imposing images of gravestones; posts announcements online that "FRED LANDU is dead"; posts "Ugh" in the NY Times comments to a Molly Ringwald parody (of all things) in a manner that has to take insanely circuitous steps to go out of his way to keep his identity from being detected; insists that he knows me personally and that I "consider him a friend": and directs at me a lyric
"I wanna stick pins your eyes...
In short
I really hope you die"
People there have the audacity to tell me that I cannot read and that I am reacting to something that is not there, when all I ask is that the owner of a chat board (Ann Miner and Mike Reynolds) who knows the person's identity just assure me that the person is not a madman.
That is what's going on. that's why I'm finding it so odd that people are rallying around that Ann Miner - not even fair IMHO to describe her as a feelimngperson based on the lack of human responsibility, more like an animal in terms of behavior here in this case, just a cold, unfeeling, intractable unfeeling being.
Now that I've said all of that, I want to add that I do hope you find who this person is and kick his ass.

Indeed! How did THAT happen? It's almost impossible to comprehend.
I think I saw it at the Fox on Hollywood Blvd.
THE CHANGELING, on the other hand, I totally missed back in the day. Watched it for my first time on DVD last year.

We have two Restaurant Weeks, which are offered by different organizations. But this one is only a week, though a few restaurants are now offering their specials for several weeks.Tonight's Restaurant Week dinner: tomato and watermelon salad with avocado, pork loin with red cabbage and roasted potatoes, and ginger peach cobbler.
DR JohnG - Does your restaurant week last just a week? or does it last two to three weeks like it does here in NYC? -And twice a year now too!
Well, I'm off. I need to buy some non-alcoholic beverages for TAO's Get A Heart On for TAO- 2012 Summer Fundraiser (http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/264754)! :DNon-alcoholic beverages? I'm afraid that phrase is in a language I don't readily comprehend. Those are like mixers, right?
It's happening tomorrow night! I actually sold five, count 'em FIVE tickets! I hope other people were able to sell more than I have...this is an important fund raiser, so we need all the (financial) help we can.
Anyway, be back later!
