Good morning, all! I have another McGlinnventory day, followed by some work at Toyland. After that, I am back here to proof the Act Two Opening Chorus of Mr Victor Herbert's exotic THE ROSE OF ALGERIA. I believe all that's left is the Act One opening chorus. As soon as the music arrives I can finish this project and send it off. Now I want to hear this piece from 1908: it's about a French Foreign Legion officer who's in love with Zoradie, the ruler of a desert tribe, so the men's chorus is primarily foreign legionnaires, but the cast also includes Millicent, a lady doctor and her chorus of nurses, a young American couple on their honeymoon, some deserters for comic relief, and I think it's the perfect summer show for DR JRand59 to direct in Indiana.
DR Jose, yes, I know Kelly Rippa is in the commercials, too. She basically acts as the vocie of reason to Mr Philbin's stupidity in those TD Bank commercials. I really do loathe them. So, DRs, what tv commercials currently running do you like and dislike? I love the Serta Sheep and some of the Geiko ones. I miss the mini-musicals that eBay used to broadcast.
I've also been catching previews for the new MARMADUKE film and wondering, who else besides Michael Barnum is going to this?
I have only cereal in this place for breakfast unless I muster up the energy to boil or fry an egg. Hmmm . . .
As for the TOD, the first spectacular dance I remember is the "Waiter's Galop" in the national company of HELLO DOLLY! with Mary Martin. A really spectacular dance in CAMELOT might have helped that show out, but Hanya Holm's work I have pretty much forgotten. Following that:
"The Red Rose Cotillion" choreographed by Agnes deMille for WHERE's CHARLEY?
"The Telephone song" choreographed by Ron Field for CABARET
"You Can Dance With Any Girl" choreographed by Donald Saddler in NO NO NANETTE
"Turkey Lurkey Time" choreographed by Michael Bennett in PROMISES PROMISES
"The Mack Sennett Ballet" from HIGH BUTTON SHOES reproduced in JEROME ROBBINS BROADWAY
"On Your Toes" choreographed by Donald Saddler and Peter Martins(?) from the revival ON YOUR TOES
