OH!!!
And as I was checking the callboard at the theatre, I happened to notice a flyer for the upcoming production of Gypsy at City Center.  Upon closer inspection, I noticed it was a special flyer for the "Broadway Community" that was offering greatly discounted tickets for some of the previews next week.  So, after dinner, we walked up to the City Center box office, and picked up two very good seats for next Wednesday's matinee.  -And both tickets were less than the price of one single ticket!  -So, if any DR in or near the NYC area would like to see Gypsy next Monday night or next Wednesday afternoon, just PM me for the code.  -Which can also just be mentioned at the box office - no printout needed.

...  I just happened to notice that other guy agape, aghast or possibly ogling them as I matted and framed the photo for my bed-side table...

And I happen to have a matted and framed photo of Boo-Key... Oh... Nevermind....

I'm telling my husband it's a picture of some "cousins" .....

And just how many "cousins" do you have?  I take it you have a lot of "nephews" too?

I shall now be on my way to see Merrily We Roll Along - I have yet to see a production I've liked, so we'll see.

My concert last night was a great success.  The Red Rock Center for the Arts is a fabulous venue, lovingly and beautifully restored.  The seating capacity is 275, and we had at least 300 people show up.  It went very well, and I was pleased.  No word yet on exactly how much we raised, but estimated to be in the $4,000 - $5,000 range!  Wish we could do it again and send the proceeds to The Brain seed money!

Congrats, DR singdaw!  When do you head back east?

I took a nap and finished last nights movie. Now it is time to eat some dinner and watch my second Bollywood movie...this one is a war movie from 2003 titled BORDER HINDUSTAN KA.

For a war movie, it has some great musical numbers.

I mean, I don't think it's a show that will ever work.

I would just like to see a production of the show that uses the original book and music, warts and all.  I've seen about three or four big/professional productions of Merrily, and then one I liked the most was the one that didn't stray too far from the original.

However, the version that was presented at the Kennedy Center's Sondheim Celebration was pretty good.  -And Raul Esparza's rendition of "Frankling Shepard, Inc." was amazing!

I have no photos as exciting and as glamorous as Barnum and the HHWs.  I hope Mike got the Badge Number of those two officers.

Here I am in Vegas.  Looking at this photo, maybe I shoud tell everyone that I ran into Stockard Channing.

Hmm... Is that supposed to be Elizabeth Taylor?  Or is it Stockard Channing?

Didn't finish "Mame" last night.  However, while Ms. Ball is obviously miscast and Ms. Arthur looks horrid, it's a beautifully shot film.  "Loving You" is now one of my most favorite Jerry Herman songs.  I'm sure I'm totally in the minority with my review.

Today is Tech Day #1 for Beauty and the Beast lots of hurry up and wait and standing around.  I do enjoy this day, I hope it won't dissapoint.  Last night, the castle jumped the track and was slightly damaged.  I think by the end of the night, they fixed it, I hope it holds up today (and for the next 3 weeks for that matter).

DR Matthew - I meant to ask you this yesterday...  How are those 16th-notes in "The Transformation" coming along?  ;)

When I played the tour, it was a true endurance test keeping that pattern running in time.  And since the string patch didn't "speak" as well as (I thought) it should have, I had to depend on my fingers more than my ears.

What is that pie-like thing on the far right? A pie with a huge amount of meringue on the top? Yummy.

Yes, that is the Brooklyn Diner's Lemon Meringue Pie.  Which happens to be one of the two desserts we - we being DR MusicGuy, Jason and myself - did not try last week.  The other one being their Chocolate Blackout Cake.  -However, I also noticed some pretty decadent looking Chocolate-Chip Cookies and Rugelach on the counter.

-Wow! Was that just last week?!?!?

Me admiring the desserts outside The Brooklyn Diner  ;D

We passed another "dessert" on the street yesterday, and we thought of taking a picture of him to send to one of our friends in Oregon.  ;)

I suggest this, DR Ginny.........

...or perhaps this......

Either would look lovely on you, just my humble opinion.

That's how I wore my hair in high school! Both ways!

And look at the false eyelashes. (I threw those away loong ago. )

For me the original Merrily worked well. IMHO every fix since has not.

Agreed!  There seems to be less and less "heart" with each revision.  And I still don't get why "The Hills of Tomorrow" no longer bookends the show?!?!?

LOL, DR MBarnum!  Those girls look right out of my high school yearbook.  Actually, I had something more like Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada in mind.  Maybe more curly.

Miss Streep had a WONDERFUL haircut. I wasn't crazy about the film; I kept looking at her hair.

The DG (Dear Girlfriend) of our DS Rob is here for the weekend and we've had a delightful family movie night watching Shakespeare in Love.  This afternoon the two of them went to the first wedding in Rob's peer group.  Makes Mom feel old.

I think your hair looks just fine, Ginny. I've been letting mine grow out over the past year or so, trying out somewhat different styles along the way. That can be kinda fun.
