Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of The White Sheik, and now it is time for you to post until the milky white cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LEPTODACTYLOUS!
Smoke on your pipe and put that in.

And the word of the day is: LEPTODACTYLOUS!
Smoke on your pipe and put that in.
That's not me...at all.
-
BK, congrats on becoming an Amazon Top 100 reviewer! :D
-
Time for bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept remarkably well last night. I had a long dream about working at The Drama Book Shop and something about a musical passage with the bass descending in thirds.
-
DR TCB, I order from Chewy.com, Petco, and Amazon for the cats, depending on prices and how quickly I need something. I haven't tried Petsmart yet.
-
I need to do laundry this week, but I haven't decided if today or tomorrow will be the day.
-
BK, congrats on becoming an Amazon Top 100 reviewer! :D
Cheers!

And the word of the day is: LEPTODACTYLOUS!
There's a word for that? :)

Yesterday on Facebook, a high school friend shared a post from a woman in Florence Kentucky. It was a photo of a one-year-old French bulldog. The woman said her husband had either sold or given away their daughter's puppy and she was trying to find it. I posted: Your husband should be hanged by his tiny balls and beaten to a pulp.
So, I am now suspended for 30 days because Facebook claims I am inciting violence.

DR George, it's been my discovery in years of working with John Yap and listening to many of his "complete" recordings that he does very little research before recording. Both his Kiss Me Kate and Grease recordings follow the current published vocal scores with their cleaned-up-for-high-schools lyrics. John McGlinn's complete Kiss Me Kate recording uses Porter's original lyrics.
I will hear Anyone Can Whistle when I find a used copy, so I'm not giving Mr Yap any money. From the one track I've heard, I would say there's too much "acting" going on compared to the wonderful original cast recording.
-
That's too bad. He could do so much better.
-
One might almost think that The White Sheik is chique.
-
Wow - a bootleg CD of the audio file of Barber's Anthony and Cleopatra from the Met is going for over $900 on Amazon.
-
Also, on the Anyone Can Whistle booklet: the art is ugly, and the font used is precious and unreadable.
-
I've been reading every so often the Real A's One from Column A from Stephen Sondheim Stage and laughing myself silly. I'm only in November 1997, but it's a great place to go when one is bored with the frivolities of politics and plague.
-

Ouch! That should put JAY's panties in a bunch.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I don’t know that I’m crazy about the art on any of JAY’s releases.

I don’t know that I’m crazy about the art on any of JAY’s releases.
They do vary.

Kitty cleanup was particularly messy this morning. One of the cats vomited all over their dish and floor. I suspect Annabelle was the sick one. I had to clean the floor and wash the food mat as well as taking care of their dishes and the litter.

Have you ever heard a conductor call out, "Hey! The flute is flat!"
-
HA!
Well today I am supposed to receive the dividend - but I've already been out.....so I will wait and do some banking on Friday.....tomorrow my sister Molly wants me to take her to Aldi.....and there's no bank between here and her house and there....well....no branch of MY bank.
-
Congrats to MR BK on his millstone.
Wonderful news about the Important Envelope.
-
Thanks to DONALD for the new radio show info!
-
Today my sister Paula and my uncle Wayne - who was just diagnosed with small cell carcinoma - are having a socially distanced lunch at my house.
I will let him lead the conversation and see where he wants it to go.
-
I watched ZERO HOUR! yesterday - and it makes the satire in AIRPLANE! even funnier if you are familiar with the original.....
-
"You've got to go out there and find out if there is anyone who can fly this plane - and who DIDN'T have fish for dinner!"
-
Yesterday's TOD:
I finally decided my choice is LA DOLCE VITA.
-
I do not think I have ever seen THE WHITE SHEIK.
I may have seen parts of it on television....but not the whole thing.
And although I am in the LARGE minority here, I hate Giuletta what's her name in La Strada......so there you are.....
-
The Meat Fell Off The Bones.
This is the title of the last volume of my memoirs.
-
Wow - a bootleg CD of the audio file of Barber's Anthony and Cleopatra from the Met is going for over $900 on Amazon.
Can’t wait to read your review of it!
-
~~~MEDICAL VIBES~~~ for the DU of DR Jrand70!!!
-
Can’t wait to read your review of it!
HA! I ain't that rich. Besides, you can hear it via the Met's stream for $150 for a year.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Already a long day and I’m running behind.
-
I LEPTODACTYLOUS or I simply leapt to the wrong conclusion.
-
Good morning! Here we are, back at school. I'm still teaching online, but that's fine. At the moment, I'm trying to put together some resemblance of a Christmas Program. Since we are not allowed to sing inside - and I REFUSE to record anyone sining outside, I've resorted to short stories read by kids in each grade.
The show we had planned isn't happening as our permit didn't get approved.
Trying to keep things "normal" in a pandemic is getting harder and harder.
-
I'm up, I'm up - about seven hours of sleep, I guess.
-
Glad elmore is enjoying One from Column A. :)
-
I just think it's funny and a little sad that Mr. Yap cannot let a single negative comment go by without posting something condescending. I have a standard line I use when it happens: It's fine - not everyone is going to like everything. That let's the poster off the hook and doesn't make me seem like a petty egomaniac. I don't post reviews to show the guy how wrong he is, I just say the line and move on.
-
I have two recordings of Whistle. You can’t beat the original cast, but I do enjoy Madeline Kahn, Bernadette and Bakula on occasion. Don’t know that I need a third.
-
From DR TCB:
;D
-
From Tom:
Not with the HIPAA Laws
It is my understanding if you are exposed to covid you are to be told about it.
My sympathies for your discouraging efforts. From your descriptions school is going much better for than for our son.
-
Tom I am sorry to have missed you last night, well not too sorry as I was happily sleeping.
-
Glad elmore is enjoying One from Column A. :)
I am! Very much.
About four months ago in as fit of madness I decided to weed out my iTunes, and I did it in a rush and I did it very badly. For the past two weeks I have been going through iTunes and several external hard drives to clean up the mess I made. I have now reached the letter P. Oy!
DR Jrand70 is rolling in dividends (or soon will be) and blinding folks with his holiday coat.
I think I need an iTunes tutorial.
I think I have brought one of my computers to a virtual standstill with all of the iTunes library on it. If you purchase a title, it takes up space on your hard drive, right? And if you "nuke" it, or delete it, that frees up that space? But since you've purchased it, you can always just download it again at some future point? And can you listen to music you've purchased without downloading it onto your computer?
These are the things I ponder in my heart.
-
I ponder as I wonder, as it were.
-
In every way. So they say.
-
I asked several friends to post on my Facebook timeline that IU was blocked for 30 days. So far only one has and what she posted may be funny, but that's about it.
I went to FB and saw it was already posted so I didn’t post it again
Bruce, Congratulations on your promotion to the Top 100 Reviewers list
-
I just spent way too much time trying to create a shot of DR elmore3003 behind bars using an image with a transparent background, but I'm just not graphically savvy enough.
-
And, speaking of savvy...
Savoir faire is everywhere!
-
Hello, 0 Guests!
-
An interesting fact I learned today...
-
The title of my next horror film will be The Shriek of the Chique Sheik of Araby.
-
My DH just told me that I'm lucky I still have my figure and my girlish laughter.
I don't know whether to kiss him or to smack him.
-
Picked up some packages, worked on project two a bit, ate - fried chicken - four piece white - two breasts, two wings, two sides - I currently cannot move at all. The breasts were huge, which is also the title of my next novel, and one would have been fine, but I ate both. I can't even look at the wings right now - maybe later. Mac-and-cheese and corn were the sides and excellent. The fried chicken as amazing. A new jernt soul food thing called Sweet Blessings by Cyler - just fantastic.
-
Listening to Flammen by Schreker, a 1903 opera from his best period and delightful.
-
Gave Richard a few music cues to do for the Doug playlet.
-
Serious question: what do you call the "knob" you can attach to the back of your cellphone or phone case to make holding the phone easier?
I have an ulterior motive which I shall share anon.
-
Last night on the Tube of You I was checking out some Oscar Straus operettas and came upon a recent production of The Pearls of Cleopatra in a wildly entertaining and totally fun staging that fit the music to a T - so clever and fun - the kind of "vision" an unpretentious director should have. I watched thirty minutes of it and saved it - and I just went back to share it here and it's been removed. That is so annoying. Maybe they'll release it. I knew I should have just grabbed it while the grabbing was good, but who knew it would go away so fast.
-
Never mind the answer to my previous question. It is apparently "popsockets."
I am cramping my hand reading my Kindle on my side in bed and I'm going to try this to see if it alleviates the problem.
-
DR JANE is taking a walk.
Very true. We walked along the little beach today. How was your lunch and how is your uncle doing? I see the response to my question.
-
Chemo vibes for the uncle of DR Jrand!
This is indeed interesting.
Good luck it works. The cover I have for my tablet makes it comfortable to hold.
Wednesday evening greetings!
...
DR GINNY might be crafting.
…
Yes, I was. But before that I saw Richard off for his routine appointment with our primary care physician. Because he’d had fasting blood work he picked us breakfast for us both at Wendy’s. After we ate I got myself ready for my own appointment with the same doctor, where I had a pneumonia vaccine.
Then I came home to my craft corner where I completed birthday cards for our niece’s 3 kids who all have December birthdays.
-
Now we’re watching “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” and I’m going to decorate the mantle. We have a new stocking to hang this year!
Yes, DR Jane - and my last, according to Dr. Frazer.
Yes, DR Jane - and my last, according to Dr. Frazer.
I am glad you have gotten them both. Supposedly they help if you get covid.
-
DR elmore3003, we were just watching a virtual holiday party/concert from the private school Shattuck-St Mary's here in MN (where my DH went), and one of the participants was Heidi Urquhart, and wondered if she might be related to Craig.
My DH was also a friend of Jack Gottlieb - another Bernstein connection!
-
Finished with one motion picture and started another that I probably won't finish tonight.
A popper
Sad to hear that Warren Berlinger has died.
Nice guy. Good actor.
In fact, the first play I ever directed was BLUE DENIM, which Warren had done on Broadway and also in the movie version. In fact, my friend, Carol Lynley, who passed away last year, was also in both the film and the Broadway play
They will both be missed.
Tonight's version of Scrooge is Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. Wonderful. Always wonderful.
-
Two audiobooks I've been waiting for both came in today. I started listening to Obama read A Promised Land and the first three chapters are really good. But Jane Smiley's Perestroika in Paris also came in -- and it's only 8 hours long vs. the 33+ hours for the president. Choices. I will probably listen to as much of Obama's book as I can take on the 18-hour trip to Louisville.
-
Jane, I met my friend at la Fonda on Main tonight. The food was excellent as usual and there were heaters on the patio to keep the place warm. The trees were loaded in colorful lights. The margarita hit the spot.
-
Gratuitous post No. 101!
-
We never watch commercial tv anymore but tonight Vixdad voluntarily put on Christmas in Rockerfeller Center and kept it on for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular
-
He still loves me!
-
That's sweet, Vixmom.
-
I'm headed to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
Finished with my viewing and listening to Der Schatzgraber, a Schreker gem in a not so hot recording in terms of sound.
-
What is this page four malarkey?
-
I should be sleeping
-
I nibbled on the two wings that were left over and maybe shouldn't have let them sit that long - feeling a little nauseous right about now.
-
But I’ll try a little
-
Puuuuuuuuuush
-
I had a baked sweet potato for dinner
-
And a plate I’d shredded iceberg lettuce with two tablespoons of dressing
-
And a frozen fruit pop for dessert
-
I had a bowl of butternut squash soup for lunch
-
And I had a cup of tea tonight
-
With skim milk and equal sweetner
-
That is all
-
No fried chicken
-
But I did find page 5
-
So there’s that
-
I have no other news
-
good night
Listening to Flammen by Schreker, a 1903 opera from his best period and delightful.
I have had a lot of Flammen in my throat the last few mornings.
I do not think I have ever seen THE WHITE SHEIK.
I have worn a couple over the years.
I always enjoyed Mr. Berlinger’s work. My condolences.
-
That is all
Wouldn’t it be better to wait until after the holidays to diet?
-
Last night I watched the John Wilson’s Proms production of OKLAHOMA. I really enjoyed it, but some of the American accents were amusing.
-
Did anyone here watch the Stephen Colbert interviews with Barack Obama last week and this week. It was such a joy to listen to him again.
-
Well, alone again. Good night.
I watched some of them on YouTube. You're right! Seeing (and hearing him) is like a breath of fresh air after so much swamp gas. :o
;)
-
Well, alone again. Good night.
Sorry I missed you, Tom.
-
Again, with the page five malarkey.
-
Most unseemly.
