I have ten more pages to read from last night.
I must say, even though BK hated the show, I found it to be fun and exciting (even though there was a steamroller for Best Musical). Yes, if you compare it to broadcasts of the past, it was not as good as the shows in the late 60s and 70s but I'm not going to trash this production. I enjoyed it
I cheered when David Hyde Pierce won. I was so glad. I don't dislike Raul but I so loathe this production of Company that it was a real treat to see an upset. I'm disappointed at the sweep for Spring Awakening. Not that it didn't deserve some recognition but it seemed a bit like mob mentality after a while. Oh, well. I was pretty spot on for most of the nominations (though I didn't post any yesterday or Saturday). I was even correct with Miss Julie White. That brought another cheer. I do love that woman. And I LOVED her speech. It was fresh and funny and from the heart. Mr. Langella gave the best speech of the evening. He didn't thank anyone. He just spoke eloquently and didn't even take 90 seconds. It can be done!
Later.
