Tonight's dinner is plated - steak, baked taters, and iceberg lettuce wedges with thousand island dressing and bacon crumbles.

Tomorrow's dinner is in the oven - corned beef brisket.  The trick I tried last time (cooking it in advance, letting it cool and all the juices settle, and slicing and reheating the next day) worked so well that I'm doing it again.

I have to wonder if all this "underbelly" is the result of the recent visit of the in-laws and/or if something is going on with Uranus - ???

I think it has more to do with trying to find a flight in and out of Fresno in one day when it is impossible to do so with the timeframe of the meeting.

With all the recent flight delays the chances of making the meeting are slim even if you fly on the same day.

What time is the meeting?  Did you try Orbitz... http://www.orbitz.com  ?

I went to college in Fresno.

I wasn't aware that their airport could handle anything larger than a bi-plane.

I have tried all of them. The earliest I can get in is 9:03 (the meeting begins at 9) and the latest I can get out is 6:30 (the meeting ends at 5).

How important is this meeting?  Are you the one going or are you booking it for someone else?

I've still got a half-hour for the brisket to cook.

I think I'll go watch another Stargate episode.  Or half of one, before pulling the brisket.

Hasta la.

Are there flights that exist and just booked.  US Airways has a 7:15pm flight from Fresno to Phoenix.  Is spending the night in a hotel absolutely out?  Not that I would want to spend the night in Fresno.

Obviously, Jose, you have never been in Fresno.  It wasn't a great place when I was there, and it's really gone downhill since.

Which isn't easy, considering how flat the Central Valley is.

I don't think Audra McDonald ever goes home.

And I don't blame her.

Even when I was in the No of Fres, Hotel Row was best known for it's hourly rates.

Good luck DR Laura!

I've never been to Fresno, but I wasn't evaluating Fresno either.  Was just wondering if DR DearReaderLaura had to stay overnight, if she could/would, and then grab the first flight out in the morning.

The board chair says emphatically in and out in one day to save expenses. There is no 7:15 flight the day I am going.  Unless they added it today.

There is no reason for "street" not to become a verb through current usage. No more objectionable than lots of internet acronyms which have entered the modern lexicon: BFF, LOL, and others. Times change and so does language.

I had an interesting night of viewing. It ended early due to a couple of lengthy phone calls.

I began with LIFE AFTER TOMORROW, the documentary on various actresses who have played Annie and the orphans in various productions. Hadn't watched it in awhile, so I enjoyed revisiting it.

Of course, the folks who will really be complaining are the ones in LA, who have to begin the drive at 4 a.m. and then drive home afterwards.

I was watching APOLLO 13 on HD-DVD when the calls began, so I only got 40 minutes into it. I'll have to finish it tomorrow.

I will say that the HD-DVD is stunning to look at in comparison to the sDVD that I had before (the Collector's Edition which had rather brackish color and was not particularly sharp).

Next came CANTERBURY'S LAW,

a very ugly episode that had very little to do with the two cases that transpired during the show and very much to do with the personal and professional life of Canterbury.

The show has gotten to a very dark place now only three episodes into its run. I'm not surprised it hasn't caught on with a mass audience. These are the kinds of problems a show's main character might face three years or so into a run. They haven't established her as a very likable character at all, and now her marriage and her practice is falling apart around her?.

I ended my evening with another episode of NUMB3RS. This one had to do with a terrorist cell that was going to poison the water supply at the Hollywood & Vine pipe station. Some good action.

There are only two episodes left in the box set. I should get to them tomorrow while I cook and eat lunch.

I'm going to play on the computer for just a bit and then head downstairs to bed.

Good night!

I agree with DR MATTH on his BLACK WIDOW assessment....I thought the extras were interesting.....and I wonder what happened to the scene with the $2000 dress that was the subject of several still photos AND a story in the pressbook....but was NO WHERE to be seen in the finished film?

If I write 10 more reviews on Epinions.com between now and Monday and get 10 Very Helpful ratings, I can earn $20.....BLACK WIDOW will be one of my 10.

It came from beneath the sea all right!  And Faith Domergue, the famous marine biologist set the Navy straight on how to take care of the damned thing!

I like sci fi movies when ladies in lab coats fall in love with men in lab coats, and even more so when the lady in the lab coat then falls in love with a man in a Navy uniform.  Oh and a big octopus, too.....but as DR derBRUCER said:  six tentacles only.

Sounds like DR GINNY is having a good time at the convention, you know how those librarians are....wasn't DEAR HEART about a library convention?

Watching some more octopus/submarine movies on TCM.

Today I gave a card reading to a man who decided to eat an ice cream cone while I talked.....I was non plussed.

Back from a fabulous concert in New Haven.  My friend, the young mezzo Sasha Cooke, performed Mozart and Falla with Orchestra New England.  She is a stunning singer and actress.  Next season she'll be tackling the principal female role at the MET in John Adams's Dr. Atomic.  Can't wait!
