When the DH went to take the new rescue pup out for her last time before bed, about 11:00pm, the cheap collar that the previous owner had provided snapped, and the dog took off. She would not come to us, and she had been in the neighborhood about 6 hours, so didn't know her way around. She is micro-chipped, but still.

So we didn't get a whole lot of sleep Saturday night. We kept going out, on foot and by car, trying to find her. A few times we saw her, but when we called her name, she ran in the opposite direction. I'm sure she was scared and disoriented.

We finally gave up, after notifying the adoption program and the police. But we had very fitful sleep. I got up around 3:30am and went out to try again. I did spot her a few times, but again, she ran.

This morning, the DH opened the front door to find her sitting on the porch. He wisely did not try to catch her, but simply said, "Oh hi, Kimber, and then came inside, leaving the door open. She peeked in, and then finally came inside on her own. We were so relieved! We figure her superior hound nose helped her find her way. She was shaking a bit, but otherwise seemed not to have been harmed by being out all night. It will be a big adjustment for her, but I think she'll settle in OK with time.

We were extremely fortunate that the overnight temp was well above freezing. I can't image she would have survived outside overnight in sub-zero temps. The first thing we did on Sunday after church was run out to a pet store and buy a new, secure collar.

I remember the good old days of the Public Theatre broadcast of Much Ado About Nothing in the early 1970s where the Xweox commercials were shown only at the act breaks.

Around 1995 - I believe I was working at the time on the City Center Encores! production of PAL JOEY - a conductor who stopped calling me about work when his career took off and his budget could afford a "name" orchestrator like Ralph Burns or Jonathan Tunick, asked me to orchestrate two numbers for a young Japanese lyric soprano. I do remember that the soprano lived on the Upper West Side and the band for my two charts had around 15 players. I do not remember now where the recording studio was, but I think the orchestration turned out quite nicely.

I also remember that the soprano had the stereotyped pronunciation difficulty with her Rs and Ls, and she called me Rally. Really.

So, here’s a number from Irish-born American composer Victor Herbert’s 1911 musical comedy,THE ENCHANTRESS. This wonderful comedy number owes its current popularity to the late great Beverly Sills.

I am curious, there was a very bad sound problem during "Hopeless Devoted To You". IT wasn't with the actual singing. But there was a really bad static while she was singing. Were they able to fix this for the West Coast? I was really disappointed that they couldn't get rid of it at any point during the song.

Well they used umbrellas at the beginning. I read something yesterday afternoon that they were thinking about doing it under tents if they had to.

I finally got my new computer back with all the stuff I want installed. Mostly. Now I just have to get used to a new keyboard and the awful touch pad (or whatever you call it) that allows the cursor to move around. I don't know about this.

But compared to the movie - which is was trying to be just like - it was a D+. Neither of the leads on TV compared at all to JT or ONJ....Julianne Hough was especially second rate.....her singing was bad and her acting was.....less than high school.....

Sondheim and Lloyd-Webber had it down when they used to film their shows, whether the original production or a staged production on a sound stage - at least it felt like a musical and there were no interruptions.

Grease Live will probably be on again. At least here it is on tonight on E!. And Downton Abbey replays every Sunday at 8pm before the 9pm showing (or at least here it does every week). Although not sure if E! and E! here in Canada show the same shows.

I thought it MUCH better than that made-for-TV mess from a number of years back that followed the auditons/eliminations process week after week.

The sets were cool, the music pretty well done (not always miked effectively). The vocals were good and the copycat performances were "expected" by the audience, I'm guessing. I don't hate Julieanne Hough and was happy to hear that she has more than just the helium voice she uses on DWTS. I thought her voice quite adequate for Sandy.

I'm not raving about it, but it was -- from what I saw in bits and pieces -- better than recent stuff done elsewhere on TV. LOVED RIZZO!!!!!!

If so, rather than leaving out the income, your CPA may want to include it in gross receipts, and just put on an additional deduction item and call it "2015 1099-MISC received for income reported in 2014" or some variation on that.
(Of course, you need to verify that it actually was reported in 2014, since your accountant may not have known to count it in 2014 with no 1099 that year.)

Post by: George on February 01, 2016, 06:08:55 PM: Well, I must be going. "Circle Mirror Transformation," the show for which I'm running sound, opens on Friday, so this is the final tech week (a.k.a. HELL WEEK). Hopefully, it won't be hellish. Actually, I know that it'll be pretty easy for me. I just have to push a button a couple of dozen times. As long as they were able to fix the program so that the projections actually project, it'll be fine...well, on the technical side, at least. I'm not so sure about the show, itself. ::)

The Man from Philadelphia strikes again. Today I received a 2015 1099 form for $3050 from the foundation. Curiously, the foundation paid me nothing last year. They did pay me $3050 on July 9, 2014, but i never received a 1099 from the foundation in 2014.

I am not paying taxes on this money twice and i paid it last year. Just when you think you are out of danger, here he comes again.

The total foundation income was declared in 2014. I always declare everything.

I guess I'm the dissenter here. When I bought my Macbook I was used to a mouse and didn't expect to like the trackpad, so I bought a new mouse. As it happens, I took to the trackpad right away and never use the mouse. I will say I find the mouse faster, but I often have the Mac in my lap and then the trackpad is much more convenient.

this happens often? I find that quite disturbing.

I think it depends on the lap top. I loved the track pad on one of my older computers. This one, not so much

I'm sure that's true. I had a terrible time with the touchscreen on the Android phone I bought. I hated it! (Hated everything about the Android.) I returned it and bought an iPhone. The touchscreen on the iPhone is quite different, much more sensitive, and what I intended to type actually registers. Huge difference.

Thanks, John, but they still haven't gotten it figured out. ::) This is the first show where they're using the projector after updating their computer to Windows 10.
